We called Bob to inspect our chimney. He showed up early, inspected the chimney from top to bottom and gave it a clean bill of health.

He missed a 1/​16″ crack about 18″ long in one corner of the tiled shower in a condo that I was buying. The constant water had caused the wall studs to rot. Oh well. The termite inspector later found two exterior utility doors that were dry rotted nearly all the way through at the bottom.
The quoted price will be higher if you leave the bill to be paid in the mess of escrow closing.
Even if you ask up front not to be solicited by email you will start receiving junk email that can only be stopped by blocking the senders. A «whack-​a-​mole» irritation that can last a lifetime.

I would like to say right out of the gate, how I have no problems with this company as far as inspections go. My huge problem is the incessant junk email you will receive months after your relationship ends. He apparently has no control over the 3^rd party actions he willingly/​sells (?) Your email info to. I have asked him multiple times for it to stop, but he has put that on me. I have «opted» out of the junk mail streams, but it just appears to create more junk email.
My advice to you… Make him mail you the reports, and DO NOT GIVE HIM YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS.

Loved Bob, seemed extremely thorough. Made a great effort to talk me through his findings. Told me to call him with any questions, which I did the following day, and he was great about answering my questions. Very good, would definitely use him again no problem and highly recommend him. Really nice guy as well.

We called Bob at Hometech for a property inspection and the service was exceptional. This is our 4^th house and Bob is the best inspector we’ve ever had. Very thorough & detail oriented in his inspection and the report was received that same night! He also provided a professional printout of the report, as well as gave advice/​recommendations for contractors. He fielded my follow up questions happily and even came back for a follow up visit to review an issue for us. 5 stars is not enough for Bob!

I was in the market for another property and before escrow closes, needed a trustworthy home inspector to thoroughly go through every inch of the house and tell me what condition the house is in. Bob Williams was very prompt and punctual and spent about 3 hours on the house. He crawled through mini spaces and every inch of the house was inspected. He did a very thorough job and gave us a super detailed report with photos on all things he found wrong with the house. I will definitely use him again in the future and recommend his services to others. even though his office is in Scotts valley, he does make trips out to the bay area.

I spent about a year searching intensely for the right home for me. Of course in the Valley, it’s a difficult process with getting overbid by nuts who don’t do any research and just pay over listing price.
But when I did find the right home, I got a home inspection from HomeTech. This company was recommended by my realtor and Bob was really one of the best inspectors I have seen. In addition, his inspection reports are very detailed and written very well.
He was able to identify that the roof was improperly installed and was also missing the starter course and the projection over the house. The first roofer I contacted completely missed this until I pulled out the inspection report for him to read!
He also notes some major issues in the crawlspace under the house which definitely could have been a big ticket item.
In the end, I didn’t get that house (too many huge problems) but it worked out for the best since I’m in a better one now! The sellers already had a home inspection done by another company, but I really respect Bob’s knowledge and so I’m going to get a home inspection from him within a year to see what the first guy missed and figure out what maintenance things I need to plan for.
