Was here for an appreciation day in honor of the City employees, Fire, Police, and Water District, and other public service members. Hosted by the Scotts Valley Police Department. Nice spread, very nice park. Well kept and maintained, very clean, plenty to do for family and friend outings, and close to a great movie theater and City Hall. Thank you Scotts Valley PD for treating us so well.

This park is quiet with plenty of seating. It’s a nice place for a picnic too. There’s a historical house in the center of the park and it’s history is detailed on Wikipedia(link below). Pull up the link in Wikipanion or some other app and have your smartphone speak the details to you. It’s conceivably fun for history buffs.

Again visited MacDorsa Park over the weekend. Some slight improvements were made, so a slight improvement to the review. Of note: GOOD: * The gazebo has been repaired and painted. The immediate danger of toddlers falling through the walls has been removed. * A surprising lack of dog crap around the playground. Maybe the«leash laws don’t mean my puppykins» selfish neighbors have started cleaning up after themselves. STILLNEEDSIMPROVEMENT: * General filth. The gazebo had a lot of garbage in and around it. People do not seem to clean up after themselves very well at this park. * Drainage is still poor near the gazebo. We’ve had almost no rain this year, but the lawn remains muddy. ONENEWBADTHING: * Someone left a power tool(electric trimmer and battery charger) sitting on a table near the barbecue area. One of my toddlers found it, and was happily pulling on the dangling power cord when I took it away from her. While I resisted the urge to add a nice new trimmer to my tool collection, I do wish the maintenance people would pick up after themselves and not leave dangerous power tools within reach of visiting toddlers.(We were there for 90 minutes and I never did see anyone working there or who may have owned that tool.) Maintenance remains poor. Thankfully we have plenty of better parks in town. Still, it would be nice to see this little gem maintained to the level of our other facilities, as it is a nice place for kids to play.
