I was disappointed with the Agua spa and I don’t think I will be back. To give them credit, the receptionist warned me when I made my massage appointment that they were a «boutique spa» and very small. I said that’s fine. They don’t have any of the spa facility«goodies» like a sauna, steam room, hot tub, etc but I was OK with that. I showed up for my massage after a day of work and I found out there isn’t even a locker room! I wanted to take a shower before my massage, it was a long day at work and this is Arizona! LOL They did lead me to a shower room, I give the staff credit for trying! However, I tried for 10 minutes trying to find hot water and there was none to be had in that shower. I reluctantly gave up and headed self-consciously to my massage appointment. My massage tech was great. I have no complaints at all, she did a nice job and I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere there as well. When I left, the massage tech and the receptionist both tried to upsell me on their lotion products. Overall, while the massage was quality, it was very much a get-in and get-out type of place and I much prefer a spa where you can hang out and relax in. There was no locker room, nowhere to relax, no water even to be had, and then they tried to upsell me. Eh, it was OK but I’ve been to better places and I don’t think I’ll head back to the Agua Spa at the Mondrian.

We decided to go to Agua Spa instead of having to drive 2 hours to Sedona. We wanted to stay local and save the time and apply it to shopping at Fashion Square instead. Pulling up to the Mondrian Hotel felt like I just left the west coast and entered Miami. Everything was white and crisp. We had to pass through the pool area and get cleared by the hot pool security guy like entering a VIP line at a trendy club. Diffrerent from what I’m normally used to at S.F. Ritz Carlton, Agua Spa has a more modern boutique style. I like how each room is provided with a private shower to make the experience more fluid. Today Nayomi performed the AromaSoul body scrub and wrap. Literally the best body treatment I’ve ever had hands down. Most places after I leave, I feel like they missed a spot or the service didn’t suffice to what I had expected. First, you get to choose which aromatic oil you’d like to be blended in with the scrub. Next, you’re scrubbed down using mild massaging strokes. I asked Nayomi to focus on a few areas and she was flexible to accomodate. After the scrub, you walk over a few steps to the private shower which Nayomi started a few minutes ahead of time so the water heat is just perfect. You’re then rubbed down with theraputic oil and wrapped with two layers to enhance the hydration. During this point Nyomi does a small facial massage. She first asks to take a deep breath as she light masks my face with her hands lined with botanical aromatherapy oil. Then… I fell asleep as she massaged away. I was extremely happy with the service. I would have given AGUA5 stars. I gave it one shy because when I had called to book services the receptionist didn’t know which facials provided extractions and it seemed tedious to get the information that I needed. Manager Shawn was very pleasant and informative. Jared performed my deep tissue massage. I keep alot of my stress in my neck, shoulders and upper back. He really knew how to get into my deep knots and work them out. Nayomi performed my facial. She took a closer look and evaluated my skin to make sure that I chose the correct package. We agreed on Pureness since I’ve had some congestion on my forehead lately and required some extractions. The staff here take their work seriously and genuinely care about satisfying their customers’ needs. Thanks Shawn, Jared, and Nayomi. I’ll make sure to call yo guys when I’m back in town…
