SAVING GRACE! I am beyond pleased! the shop was actually closed a few minutes past seven but I decided to get off anyways in hopes of finding someone there that would fix The hatchet job that a previous barber at a different independent store did to my head. Eric, who im sure was tired and wanted to get out of there, was kind enough to take a look and ultimately work his magic to correct the horror that was my hair. To boot he didn’t even charge me. WOW! Words can’t describe how grateful I am. I won’t ever go to another barber shoppe and you shouldn’t either, Cut Throat is where its at.

Not impressed.
Called twice hours ago to make an appointment — no answer.
Just walked in a moment ago (2 pm) and we have not a single customer being served with 3 hipsters watching the big screen. Cute place btw.
I asked one of the guys for the owner Eric based on the positive Unilocal reviews. He came out and I asked for a shave and cut. After a number of times calling me «hey man» he said he was booked all day and could someone else cut my hair.
I told him it was my first time here. Sure I said — as long as they are good.
We work by appointments only he says. I told him I called twice with no answers.
Next he looked at his iPad and asked me if I could come back later tonight.
Um — no dude.
The barber business apparently us more cut throat then the owners imagined apparently.
Let’s see — not a single customer in the store with 3 guys at their work stations. No one answers phone. All the guys are watching TV. And no one available for a cut and shave.
Sorry dude — I pass.
If you are an appointment only shop my advice is to try to answer your phone during business hours. Especially when no one is in the store and you are eating lunch in the back room.

What a great find! Followed other reviewers’ advice and made an appointment with Erick for a cut and beard trim — he’s usually booked out pretty far, but worth the wait.
I let my hair and beard grow for about 8 weeks without maintenance, and am unaccustomed to having both long. We discussed what was wanted, his thoughts and the man got straight to work. I haven’t looked this clean and trimmed in YEARS, and I’m a big fan. Will most definitely be back for the next needed appointment.

Cut throat is amazing! I have been getting my hair cut by Allison for the last 5 years and I will never trust anyone else with my hair. The vibe of the shop is really cool, the owner Erik is awesome and the other barbers are as well. I would (and have) recommended Cutthroat literally to everyone that I know!

If youre looking for a great barber in this area you need to check out this spot and make an appointment with Allison. She is a perfectionist and took the time to make my experience relaxing and worth the stop. Appointments are highly recommended. Straight shave was one of the best i ever had!

I received my cut from Allison, and I’ve already decided she’s my barber for the foreseeable future. Since I’ve lived in Arizona I’ve been searching for barbers who really understand African-​American hair– and she does. I highly recommend her for people with special needs… and the shop itself is cozy and modern in a clever way.

Every time I go in I am never disappointed. Allison knows what she’s doing. I have my hair long so I can comb it back. She give me tips and ideas. And the place it’s self is really cool. I highly suggest that everyone go here.

Heard about this awesome barber shop from a friend who also comes here regularly, my fiancé came in early Monday morning without an appointment and David squeezed him in and gave him a nice fresh cut, I love the vibe this shop has, they even had some oldies on. I love me some oldies, anyways Gabriel my fiancé will be back and I don’t mind joining him because of how much I love the ambiance.

Being in a very detailed industry, I can be quite picky when it comes to my haircuts. Jacob at Cut Throat is not only talented, but a consummate professional who has an eye for detail. I would highly recommend seeing Jacob for your next cut and you will be hooked!

Figured I should write a positive review to balance out all of my negative food reviews on Unilocal.I’ve been a customer of Erick’s for about a year now, and I plan to remain a customer for many years to come. I gave him a blank canvas to start out with and I’ve been blown away by what he’s able to accomplish as a barber. He’s quick, professional, easy to chat with and beyond talented at his craft. As a fellow small business owner it’s great to meet a guy so passionate about what he does with the chops to back it up.
While I haven’t worked with any of the other guys in the shop yet, if Erick trusts them then they must be good guys. If you’re looking for a place to get a quick cut and neaten up your beard this is the only place in the valley to even think about visiting!

Erik has been my go to guy for a couple of years now. Though I haven’t been able to book an appt with him recently as he’s always booked a few weeks out and I usually decide to get my head shaved/​beard trimmed a day or two before hand. As such, I’ve been serviced by Mateo, Dan, and Jacob aside from Erik in 3 of last 4 visits.
Each of them have done an outstanding job, though Erik has always stood out as clearly the best. Today was my first experience with Jacob and I was thoroughly impressed. I’d put him right there with Erik. Great attention to detail, listened clearly to what I was looking for, and nailed it. He was quick, as well, and kept the conversation on point and appropriate, which was Mateo’s only downside.
I already know I’ll be back here because even when not at their best this place is better than anywhere else in town I’ve been to, but between Erik and Jacob you’re sure to be impressed and happy with the experience.

Jacob is truly a top tier precision barber. I would fly this guy to England every month if I could. Thanks for the cut and shave buddy

This place is 5 stars all the way! I got a great haircut by Jacob. Love the old school style and modern equipment!

Online appointment system worked great. I went on the spur of the moment. Got the Cut and Presidential. Jacob did a great job with a straight shave cut and complete cleanup of a goatee that was on vacation for three weeks.

I just had one of the best haircuts I have had in old town from Dan. I have been searching for a barber like this for over a year of living here. The service was amazing, barbershop was super clean and well kept. This place just found a new customer for as long as I live here.

Second visit to the shop before a big wedding and I feel great. Thank you Mateo for a true barbershop experience. This is the place to go if you enjoy intelligent conversation and consistent haircuts. Always on point. My go to shop.

Mateo is the finest barber I’ve ever been to. I cannot express how how much I appreciate his service.
I’m from California, I come to Phoenix/​Scottsdale to get my hair cut by Mateo. He is the ONLY one trusted.
He is a PERFECTIONIST. He claims it is a blessing and a curse… I don’t see any curse when it comes to working on my hair.
He composes the most artfully crafted cuts, better than the rest. I only wish he was closer to where I live.
He can work with any head, any style, and always comes thru. I can only hope I never have to have someone else cut my hair.
