Stevie was great. 1^st visit today with her to do Balayage highlights & kinda of ombré effect on my too ashy & over bleached highlights.
Stevie took the time to listen to what I wanted & executed perfect. I love my color.
It is difficult to try new professionals to color your hair… especially for a curly hair girl like me.

Had my first appointment with Elizabeth today, and it turned out beautiful and just how I wanted it. She is friendly, talented, and is very good at explaining why something will or will not work well on your hair. I am 110% pleased, and will be making her my go to stylist from here on out.

I’ve been seeing a Ben for a few months now to get my high lighted hair back to its original brown and he did not disappoint. My hair is now low maintenance and back to the natural color that I love! Thank you Ben and Off Camber for always giving me the best experience every time I come in. If you want perfection, see Ben!

I was skeptical of all the glowing reviews; no salon can be THAT perfect, right? I made an appointment with Brent and prepared myself for another mediocre cut. Wow, did he ever exceed my expectations! It’s been a few weeks and my hair is still just as manageable and just as cute as when he cut and styled it; I’ve been complimented numerous times and asked who did my hair (sent them your way, Brent!). Needless to say this was an easy 5-​star review and I now know who my «permanent» hair artist is. Off Camber really truly is THAT perfect!

I scheduled an appointment with Michael. I arrived, admittedly about six minutes late, as there was no sign out by the street to show where this was. It is in a StudioSalon co-​op. They had about six stylists crammed in a small space, so it was very noisy when I found the place. Michael started off by telling me «how he works» which made it clear he did no styling. I tried to explain what I thought might be good, and he started clicking his pen, looking around the room, and popping chewing gum in his mouth. Clearly, he wasn’t interested in who I was, what my lifestyle was or what look I was interested in. He then pulled up one picture and told me that was what I needed. I excused myself to the ladies room and when I came back, he initially said he was ready to start, but he had a funny look on his face. I asked him if he was sure, and he stopped to check his computer. He began frowning, so I started to ask if this was going to work out, but quickly realized he had scheduled not more than 30 minutes for the $ 80.00 haircut. I left.
I am writing this because I had chosen him due to Unilocal reviews, including about the relaxed atmosphere (anything but!), and the skill of this guy. Can’t prove it by me. I will pay — and have paid — $ 300 for a haircut. But $ 160/​hour for this would have been criminal. Good money if you can get it, Michael, but you won’t get it from me or anyone with sense. Save your money, people, go somewhere that is more professional.

I am not easily blown away… I WAS TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY!!! I went to Michael Barnes for the first time and I have never been so ecstatic and thrilled about my hair… and this gal is not easy to please. ROCK STAR!!! The salon has an immediate cool vibe the second you enter. Everyone was friendly, not a snoot in the bunch. Michael not only listened to what I wanted, he educated me in the process. HE NAILED THE CUT TO PERFECTION! I LOVE IT!!! Both he and his assistant ROCK!!! My hair has finally found the perfect home. Fabulous salon, fabulous service, fabulous folk and FABULOUS stylist! I googled salons in the Phoenix area that specialize in balayage. I was impressed with the reviews and pictures they had uploaded. So I decided to book an appointment with Stevie.
I have never had color done at a hair salon, so I was really nervous, but Stevie was wonderful. She was incredibly peppy and even made me coffee. Stevie took the time to do a consultation with me, I showed her some pictures of what I had in mind and then she started her magic.
She took her time with me, and I even cut into her other clients, which I feel sorry about, but she wanted to make sure my hair would look amazing.
When she was done styling my hair and she showed me, I almost cried. I gave her a hug.
Walking out the door I got my first compliment in the parking lot!
I have already referred people I know to her, they saw the results and want something similar.

Michael did a such a fab job on cutting & styling my frizzy curly hair! I came in wanting about an inch chopped off and was in desperate need of some layers and texture. Michael gave me one of the best blowouts I’ve ever had on my curly hair, he made it bouncy and super soft (something many stylists cannot do with my hair /​without using a flat iron). He cut it dry and styled it so easily. He definitely gave me the look I was going for.
I always have to commend stylists when they can work with curly hair like mine. I recently moved to AZ about 5 months ago, and he is definitely going to be my stylist going forward. Highly recommend him & the salon as a whole!

Super impressed with the quality work and the level of service I experienced today at Off Camber. Loved the style of the salon and the other stylists were super friendly as well. Was even able to have a glass of wine as he foiled my hair… Bonus! Brent was my stylist and he did absolutely amazing on my blonde highlights! I came in a brunette and walked out with a full head of highlights I am in love with, thanks Brent!

Read the reviews and believe the hype. Brent is a real life super hero. He transformed my hair from middle age mediocre to absolutely amazing. He could very well be the only man to bring me true happiness!

I took the plunge into trying a hair salon that does not advertise how great they are with curly hair and I was blown away. Went in for a wash, treatment and cut came out looking and feeling amazing. Michael whipped these tight curls and coils into soft, layered straight strands of greatness. Customer service was what I expected (great) and ambiance was really nice. Will definitely be going back regularly.

Nice space, polite staff, and my services were okay, but I expected a greater level expertise based on the reviews I read. The most important part of a salon service is the consultation. My stylist was very nice and pleasant, but he wasn’t receptive to what I was asking for. I was explicit in that I didn’t want diffused highlights, but that’s what I got. I asked for a trim and a little long layering, but I got a pretty ho-​hum one length bob that was not executed with as much precision, or refinement as I expect for an $ 80 haircut.
My advice for the salon is to ditch all the gadgets. Instead, focus on technique and giving the guest what they ask for. The assistant took longer to lay out an array of cutting tools that would shame a serial killer than the stylist took to actually cut my hair. Too much gimmickry and not enough skill for my taste.

Brent is the best! I got my hair done a while back and loved the way he cut and colored it! It grew out so nicely and I plan to go back to him for the same cut and color. He is very talented and his modern techniques are amazing. I’m extremely picky when it comes to my hair. If I show him a picture of what I want, he goes for it.

Found Off Camber Studios and Brent when I moved to AZ just over a year ago. He does a great job and has great ideas when I’m not sure what I want to do next with my hair. I’m incredibly pleased everytime I leave.
The salon is clean and comfortable. Someone always offers a drink when you arrive. Staff is kind and attentive. The shampoo bowls are in a separate area of the building that is calmer and quieter than the main salon. This is really nice and relaxing when getting your hair washed and scalp massaged.
These guys get it. They’ve got a passion for hair and have created a great atmosphere at Off Camber.

I have to say my experience today was great. Elizabeth went above and beyond with the balayage color! She is sweet and professional. Totally recommend this place 100% worth it.

My best friend and I went in today to get balayage highlights from Elizabeth. She was absolutely amazing, I 100% recommend her! My hair cost $ 150 and that included my balayage highlights, hair cut, and blowout. My best friends balayage highlights cost $ 125 with a blowout. Which is very reasonable compared to other salons. I had never died my hair before this and it was the best experience possible! I will never go anywhere else!

Upon booking the appointment online, I picked Michael Barnes to be my stylist for my first balayage. I was nervous but excited when I came and once Michael got to work on my hair, I found him to be really helpful in my first time getting balayage done and also easy to warm up to. He explained the process and answered my questions. I’m glad to say, I picked the right place and right stylist!
Off Camber Studios is the place to go! I love the atmosphere and the people. I found it interesting that it was located in a building specifically for hair salons.

I’ve been pissed off since I left the studio tonight! All I can think is that there is no way I will find a talented stylist like Brent in California. It is really hard, in my opinion, to find someone who can do blonde SO well. I LOVE my hair. I love it so much it’s depressing me. It would be totally acceptable to road trip every 8 weeks, right?! Darn! The bar is set so high now. Thanks for making me so beautiful. I WILL be back at some point! xo

I have been coming to Brent for the last 6 years and have been incredibly impressed by how much pride he takes in his work on even a simple haircut like mine. Being a male I have found that most hair stylists just user a trimmer to cut the hair of a guy. Not Brent. From the beginning he has done it like I have asked and how he prefers: with a scissor and comb. This takes longer but gives a much better haircut. I also get my hair colored since I am 50+ and don’t like looking it! Brent’s knowledge of color and products is unmatched. I always look 10 years younger and feel it after getting a color and cut from Brent.
Additional Brent is just a wonderful guy. He is always professional and has become a dear friend.
I can’t recommended Brent highly enough.
