Samuel is awesome! I am natural and have been for the past two years. I have been so terrified of going to anyone after having my hair wrecked for so long getting relaxers. I heard multiple glowing reviews of Samuel, and I really really needed a good blow out and trim. when I went in I was a bit nervous, it was my first time in a salon in a year. Samuel was very courteous, funny, and knowledgeable. he talked to me about the wrong products I was using on my hair and how my low maintenance routine was destroying my hair. He used this fabulous product line on my hair, changed my understanding of what my hair can actually do, and how I could wear it and care for it. I trust him and his advice. At this initial appointment he washed and conditioned my hair, massaged my scalped, detangled my neglected hair, blew it out, flat ironed, and then cut 3 inches off! He gave me the option of trimming little by little, but it’s just hair, and if you hold onto the scraggly hair it’ll ruin what you have. Plus, healthy hair looks so much better! I was so amazed by what my hair actually looks like when he finished up. I had always thought that my hair was coarse and would never fully straighten, but I was wrong. He showed me just how wrong I was. This week I am going in for a Brazilian blowout. I’m very nervous but Samuel has assured me that we can control how much curl to take out. That has been my main concern. Being natural and taking care of growing out my curls has been a nightmare. I love my curls I just want them easier to manage. HORRIBLE!!! Don’t go here!!! Worst blow dry ever. The guy has been an educator for Tony and Guys for X amount of years. He treats you like a student not a customer. He called me a «hair baby» saying I didn’t know what I’m talking about… Well yeah, I don’t do hair. I had fly always all over my head when he was done and he tried to claim it was because I needed a hair cut. He stuck two blow dryers to my hair for a «rough blow dry» causing my hair to go every which way. Then using a straightener. It was horrible. My normal girl was all booked so this was last min but I could have done a better job. Needs to learn how to use a round brush and treat customers. Will never be back!!!

I wanted a «drastic» change so I went to Samuel for the first time. I was afraid to have anyone I know cut my hair short because I’ve never had short hair. Samuel went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. I spent 7 hours at the salon getting hair, mani/​pedi and brows from the girls next door. Samuel at Puzzles was great with my hair! Best haircut I have ever had and I have gone to some of the best in LA and NYC. I’m so glad I found him! I will go back from now on for sure!

Samuel is this truth! I can’t go off the grid anymore. I’m cute but he beautifies me. HAHAH! I haven’t had a relaxer in a year and a half, and he lays my hair better than any relaxer I had in 20 years! I I come out feeling like a rich powerful woman. The WORD says the a woman’s hair is her glory. With Samuel’s blessed hands, my hair is glorified! LOL

I’ve been trying for a while now to find a salon that I can frequent. I’ve been to a few salons in the Scottsdale area and they just aren’t able to handle my type of hair. I’m black, and live by relaxers. My hair was always dry and lifeless 1 day after leaving the any other shop.
I was so pleased when I went to puzzles studio. The location is perfect and they are flexible on scheduling, which is nice since I live a busy life.
I went in to see Samuel and he’s amazing. He’s very knowledgeable about hair itself, products, and constantly gives me maintenance tips. I’ve switched to lye relaxers, and am loving my hair. I was so pleased after my first few visits, I decided to join the blowout bar membership. I go in once a week and Samuel always takes good care of my hair. My hair is more full of life and body, which lasts in between visits. Almost equally important is that I’m not breaking the bank. The services here are very reasonably priced, especially for the amount of care and attention my hair needs.
I’d recommend this place, and Samuel’s expertise to everyone, regardless of hair type. Just make one appointment and see for yourself.

Not too long ago, I was referred to Jenna for color and I am impressed! I have dark hair and color it every two weeks. Of all the colorists I’ve gone to over the years, not only does she get the color right every time, but she applies it so carefully that I never walk away with streaks of brown around my hairline. That is a first. The products are first rate, the color really has no scent and my hair has never been shinier. After six months or so, Jenna moved over to Puzzle Studio, and of course I followed. The new location is comfortable, relaxed and I love that it is small and quaint. Samuel has cut and styled my hair and did it perfectly. Another plus is their online booking app which just might be one of the most convenient ones I’ve seen. So easy to make one appointment or multiple, to change or to cancel. Jenna and Samuel are working hard to make this business a success and they are on the right track!

When I first came here with my friend I came as her support. This was her first time trying the salon. Our first impression was that the atmosphere was professional and quaint.
We really liked the artwork that adorned all the walls. The artwork was done by local artists and its good to see them support their community in this way. The staff was friendly and very professional. My friend enjoyed her experience so much that she signed up for the blowout bar membership and now comes once a week. Samuel did her hair and she continues to see him.
Anyone who is looking for friendly experienced professionals Puzzles Studio is the way to go.

Just had went to this new salon and absolutely love it! The facility is warm, friendly and inviting… and beautiful decorated! Jenna is a colorist and did a wonderful job with my hair. I’ll be back soon to try out their upcoming Blow Dry service.

If you are in the Phoenix/​Scottsdale/​Tempe area you should come by Puzzles Studio and check out all they have to offer. I’ve had Samuel as my stylist for over 15 years and cannot say enough about his amazing hair styling skills! He talked me into trying Kera Straight about two years ago and it turned out to be one of the best investments I’ve ever made. My hair is stronger, healthier and the longest it’s ever been — Thank you Samuel!

I just started coming to Puzzles after following my colorist Jenna from another salon. I love it! The studio is set inside Hair Personality and it has a wonderful cozy vibe decorated with art from local artists. Each time I’ve been offered a glass of wine or other refreshment. Jenna and Samuel are wonderful and I would definitely recommend this place. The color and cuts have been fabulous thus far!
