This is a great neighborhood bar, friendly owner, staff & bartenders. We love the patio and aside from the occasional smoking table it is always a great spot for drinks on a nice evening in summer. The food is mainly bar fare but good weekly specials and I really like their steak. They usually have music on the weekends and of course they have my Guinness on tap so that is always a plus!

Back when I lived in the Green Ridge section of Scranton I was on a trivia team. We were called The Evil League of Evil and played exclusively at Andy Gavin’s. I visited this pub and eatery many times during my Electric City sojourn and always enjoyed myself. During the summer months I enjoyed dining on the outside patio while facing the Lackawanna County Prison located directly across the street. Only when enjoying a delicious meal precious few feet away from incarcerated murderers and rapists can I truly appreciate the extent of my freedom and quality of Andy Gavin’s entrees. I often wondered if the inmates were ever able to hear the noise of the restaurant while locked away in their cells; how they must have longed for a quality steak, cool alcoholic drink, and attractive dinner partner. My only major complaint with Andy Gavin’s is their restroom area. The men’s room is among the smallest and most cramped I’ve ever been in. If you suffer from claustrophobia be sure to use the bathroom before you leave home. Upon moving to Scranton I first misread Andy Gavin’s as Lady Gavin’s. I still think Lady Gavin’s is a much better name and hopefully a pub in Scranton or Wilkes-Barre will open under that moniker. I also knew people who frequently mistook Andy Gavin’s with a similar sounding pub and eatery by the name of Micky Gannon’s. The names in Scranton are so confusing.

We were a group of 12. Service was great and food was awesome. Owner came out to speak with us and was very friendly and helpful. Even large group next table were super fun. Thin crust pizzas were the bomb… and burgers were great. They even had the hockey game on which for us canadiens its a huge bonus. Great sports bar which was all that we expected and more Thanks Andy’s!

The wings are HUGE and nasty! They are not able to get them extra, extra crispy. The meat would not come off the bone. They have large hunks of cartilage that sound like your biting into an apple when you try to eat them. They were rushed out and almost flash fried. The sauce is tomato based(not a bad thing) but the«hot» lacks heat and flavor. A+ for the thickness of the sauce. I am sick of places rushing out an order of EXTRA, EXTRACRISPY wings. They think they need to get everything out of the kitchen at the same time. I will sometimes order them extra, extra crispy and tell them I don’t mind waiting for them. The kiss of death for myself ordering wings extra, extra crispy is some else at the table ordering wings normal. I know that the cook is putting my wings in the basket with the normal order and that they will come out at the same time and under cooked. Ahhhhhh! There are places that make their wings crispy and I don’t have to order them special. But this is one of those places you have to get the waitress’s attention and tell them EXTRAEXTRACRISPY and that you will wait as long as it takes. If they listen and do so the jumbo sized wings might be alright to eat. But if you like your wings crispy and medium to small sized(like I do) this is not your place.

Stopped by for lunch on our way to Ithaca… won’t be going back. Salad was mostly the white part of the romaine head, chicken was dry, my husband’s signature sandwich was more bread than meat. The staff was great and awesome beer selection.

Immediate props for being open on Sundays… so many places closed in the area. Plenty of street parking, even with the snow. Walked in to a mostly empty bar/restaurant but greeted promptly. Quick taste of a local beer and ordered our brews of choice. Small snafu on the beer lines, but they handled quickly… dude marked kegs incorrectly. Homeade pierogies with butter and onions were solid. Salad with chicken bites just ok. Ordered Jerk but were more like bbq sauce and overcooked pieces. Salad was fine. Service was the winner here, as she checked on us often. In and out in an hour. Would gladly go back.

I ate at Andy Gavin’s for the first time on Saturday. The beer selection was great and the service was good but the food was terrible! We ordered the sampler platter of wings as an appetizer and other than the ranch, we couldn’t taste the difference between the other sauces(and none of the sauces were good). For our main course my boyfriend and I both ordered burgers and fries. You could tell the items were not fresh and had been frozen. We only took a few bites and then decided to call it a night. So if you are looking for a place to drink then try out this place but if you are hungry I would suggest going somewhere else.

As both a musician and patron of this establishment I have nothing but praise for Andy Gavin’s. The owner Donny and his staff are always class acts. I love performing here and the food is always top notch. In my opinion they have the best hot wings in Nepa. Thumbs up!

My favorite corner bar and college haunt. It’s close to Marywood, so it’s where pretty much all of the students like to go. The food is great — especially their homemade chips. I’m a big fan of the free popcorn, too. My only complaints are sometimes it takes awhile for service and the entertainment — we’ve seen a few bands/acts that have been really awful.

I’ve been here a few times now and I have to say that it is definitely one of the better pubs to go to in scranton. Now you may ask why did I give this place 3 stars. The first thing is that their menu thins down when a specific time occurs at night. I forgot if it was 11pm or midnight, but the good stuff is gone and that was disappointing. However, the bigger issue is their tap. A good pub relies on their tap for their«bread and butter» beer. The first time I came, I tried a guiness and it tasted rancid and really weird. I told the waitress and she replaced it with no questions asked. Nice. The next time I went, I ordered a blue moon and it was really flat. I’m not sure if its an issue with the tap or with how they store the beer? But regardless, it made this place a little disappointing since I like the environment to hang out and drink at. I would give this place more like 3 and a ½ stars. I’ll probably give this place a chance again and try the tap again but so far, it’s been hit or miss. Place is a good place to chill though so bring lots of friends! Their food is about average pub food. Not amazing but good enough that I will eat it again.

This was our go to bar. Great service and great selection of beers! Loved all the pumpkin ales they got in around the fall. Didn’t eat here very often but when we did it was pretty good.

With all the bars disappearing in Scranton, Andy Gavin’s is the closest I can get to a constant. Great service, good food and cold beer… and there’s usually enough space, too. Who can ask for more?

Decent, clean and well-maintained bar in Scranton. Good selection of beers and microbrews. Crowd is chill and friendly. Didn’t have the food there but saw some people eating and it looked pretty good. I’d def go back. 2 issues… mens restroom is tiny and it’s in a terrible spot in the middle of the bar. Yes the middle… very odd. Also, you’re better off getting beer in bottles as opposed to tap… the beer tastes stale as if they don’t clean their tap lines.
