For a small museum in a small city, the Everhart is just fine. They have some interesting exhibits in many different areas. The bird exhibit is clearly the crown jewel of the museum, and it is quite extensive. I’ve probably been there 6 or 7 times and have always found it satisfying. It’s not the Philly Museum of Art, nor the Smithsonian(both of which are GREAT, btw, and you should visit if you’ve never been) but it(we’re talking about the Everhart again) is well worth a visit.

A gift shop is located on the first floor, and is packed with art books, stuffed birds, jewelry, clothing made from Bhutanese refugees and anything related to the museum. The basement gallery is called«Migration from Bhutan to Scranton» and focuses on the lives of migrants who have made the journey. A Just for Kids area called Isaiah’s Corner is on the first floor and has coloring books, dinosaurs, etchings, costumes and lots of other fun stuff for kids. The upstairs gallery was mainly dedicated to peoples of the asian grasslands: Kazakhs, Mongols and Manchus. It has jewelry, equipment, weapons, armor and art of said people. Visited recently on Father’s Day. Admission to the Everhart Museum is 5.00 per person, and 2.00 for children 12 and under. There is ample parking in the area. Hours are: Mon, Thu, Fri noon-4pm, Sat 10a-4pm, Sun noon-5pm. Located in Nay Aug Park. All in all worth it if you’re in the area.
