Look, this place rocks. Collecting comics in the late 80’s and early 90’s as a child, this store is a throwback to how it used to be. I am not sure how many people nowadays collect actual paper comic books. It seems many of my friends(38 – 40) who collected as kids now only do the digital stuff. I like having the books. Touching them, smelling them age, taking care of them in acid free plastic and putting them on display in my man-cave from time to time. I took about a decade off from my favorite titles and recently went back to Chris’s and was totally lost. Marvel recently did a reboot to all their books. Everything started over to my dismay. I asked who I think might Chris’s son but not sure, just a guess. He was around late 20’s/early 30’s I’d guess and was super helpful explaining to me all that has transpired in the Xmen universe recently. I cant recommend this place enough. What a gift to live so close to this shop.

I’ve gone here a few times and am usually pretty satisfied to get in and out of there with no problems. Sometimes, however, I feel like I am a bother of some kind to the people that work here, as if they’re doing me a favor by selling stuff to me rather than them just happily accepting my business. It’s happened to me a couple of times between playing Magic and Pokemon over the years and coming to this store first each time for both. Now I mainly only shop here for hard toploaders as they are the best place to find them. If you catch them on a good day, you’ll be satisfied, but there shouldn’t be an «if».

I’m a huge fan of Chris’s. Used to go to the Salem store as a kid, and when I rediscovered comics a few years ago, I was more than happy to hit the Seabrook store and have since become a regular customer. The new comics selection is enormous and comprehensive– from Marvel, DC, and Image to the smaller publishers. They also have a huge selection of trade paperbacks, including some great $ 5 and $ 10 deals. For back issues they don’t have as much here as they do at the Salem store, but there is still PLENTY to dig through… Silver Age stuff as well as more recent. Reasonable prices too. But one of my favorite things to do here is dig through the 50 cent bins. It’s mind-boggling how many boxes of 50 cent comics they have, with new things coming in all the time. My childhood is in those 50 cent bins… so much great Marvel &DC stuff from the 80s… lots of independents as well. I’ve found some amazing stuff here. On top of it all, Chris, Dave, and the whole staff are super-helpful and knowledgeable. Great people. I can’t recommend Chris’s highly enough!

Great place if your a comic book collector.(which I’m not) they have a huge selection of comic books and sports stuff like action figures decent amount of cards also. Thy have cheap cards like rookies parallels refractors and stuff like that for only 25 cents but there autos and jersey cards are pretty expensive

An old time comic book shop like back in the day. Boxes of old comics in the middle of the store and the walls literally lined with all of the most recent releases. They also have action figures, some sports and sci-fi cards and a few other items. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

Chris’s comics offers the welcoming atmosphere, competitive pricing, and nerdy merchandise that anyone who has spent time in the clutches of a dungeon(imaginary) or conjuring magic(in a gathering) would appreciate. It’s a casual place where regulars are remembered and treated well while those new to comics or gaming are embraced. If there is a better spot for nerd needs within an hour’s drive, I’ve yet to hear of it.

Unfortunately due to the economy and overpricing of cards, their are no longer any good hobby stores left out their. The days of having the corner store where you could go hang around and be greeted by someone happy to be their and happy to get your business, well, those days are all done. Now you get places like this that has some mope working that makes you feel like you are doing him a favor to be their. Little tip, hire some people with a frigan personality.

Far larger and far better than the Salem NH location, Chris’ original location in Seabrook is one of the better comic stores I’ve been to in New England; pretty much tops. If it weren’t an hour away, it’d certainly be my weekly comic fix of choice. Chris’ is HUGE as comic stores go, and focuses almost exclusively on comics. You can get packs of sports cards and your magic and heroclix boosters here, plus browse from a decent selection of sports cards and a minuscule selection of single magic cards, but this is NOT the comic book specialty store to go to for your specialty board games. The fact that Chris’ is as large as it is and devotes practically all of its space JUST to comics(no gaming space, no bulky specialty board games) is really something. They have an abundant selection of new issues and a sizable selection of back issues that remains intact when other comic stores are clearing theirs out. They also have a full row of bargain bin back issues at 50 cents, an expansive selection of graphic novels and, perhaps most importantly, a whopping selection of reduced to clear graphic novels; hardcovers set at $ 10, the rest at $ 5. There are TONS of the phonebook-sized Marvel Essentials series in with the $ 5 stuff, which is a major find. In addition, the store sometimes has really good sales. Just once in a long while, mind you, but when they do, it is significant. I recently just happened to stop in after a day at Hampton beach and enjoyed treating myself to a 50% off graphic novels sale. When my more local stores infrequently have any kind of markdown at all, it never goes above 20%; so this was just a blissful splurging experience. The store is a bit dim and cluttered, so it falls into the more«dungeon» like side of the comic store spectrum, but it is livened up by the extremely friendly and helpful staff as well as the sheer bliss of the store’s expansive selection, plus their reasonable prices. My only complaint with the store is that the majority of their graphic novel stock is interspersed with the new title racks in a way that makes them just a tad difficult to browse. Beyond that, this is a great store that people who live close by are lucky to have and people who just pass through once every few months are strongly advised to check out whenever they have the chance.

I love the smell of comic books; it instantly transports me back to my childhood. Unfortunately, comic book shops are few and far between these days. Not so for Chris’s Cards & Comics, which boasts two locations in Seabrook and Salem, New Hampshire. Chris’s in Seabrook is a sizeable place with a huge selection of new, used and vintage comic books and graphic novels. You’ll also find plenty of the expected comic paraphernalia: action figures, posters, and knick-knacks of all shapes and sizes. Chris’s also has a small selection of sports cards and memorabilia, including some autographed posters and jerseys. Prices are fair, the staff is super friendly and helpful, and the store is clean and well maintained. And to top it off, they keep a stock of every hobby nerds four basic food groups: candy, chips, soda and chewing gum.
