Coffee Oasis used to be one of my favorite places in Clear Lake. They had live music from incredibly talented artists, fun open mic nights, and a great atmosphere. So what happened to this place? I was pretty busy this fall and hadn’t come to Coffee O for a few months, when all of a sudden I noticed a hiring sign outside their door. I had been looking for a job, so I decided to stop by. It seemed like they were redoing their décor, and I noticed there was no music, which was strange for a Friday night. When I asked for a job application, I was told by the barista that there had been a change in management, and that, in his opinion, it would be best not to apply. He looked like he absolutely hated his job. I was kind of confused, so I did some research. Apparently the owner is trying to make coffee oasis into a restaurant/wine bar, and she doesn’t care much for old customers. The musicians were fired, although their performance schedule is still on the website. They should have at least taken that website down, I can only imagine how many people walked in expecting to perform at open mic night or trying to see some live music. And guess what? That wasn’t the worst part. Not even close. The new owner is a huge bitch. She actually kicked me out of the restaurant. I ordered coffee and was sitting at a table, and she asked me to either order food or leave. The room was almost completely empty! It’s not like I was taking up a ton of space on a busy night or anything. She said that Coffee O was no longer a place where you could just get coffee(what the fuck), that it was now a restaurant, and that customers had to either order food or leave. It was honestly some of the rudest service I’ve ever experienced. Any business owner who feels that it’s ok to treat customers this way needs to be slapped in the face. I don’t think this new«restaurant» will last very long.
