I found this shop in 2001, shortly after moving to Oregon. I have a lovely bracelet that I purchased. I get back to this shop once a year now and always come home with interesting treasures. Susan is kind and enthusiastic about her craft, she is quick to praise the creations of others and gives advice about recreating something that is in her shop. Often I find artists will guard their territory and consider other artists a threat. Susan is quite the opposite, she enthusiastically jumps in to help find just the right component or sends you where you can find it.

HeartSong is an ideal name for this artists work. Intense love of creating and wisdom derived from the ups and downs of life, resonate from her unique Designs. For the couple harsh judges of Susan Hanson’s attitude I ask us all to give each other Grace. Are we always bright and cheery no matter what? I cannot say that I am. Those of us who are true artists must triumph over good and bad days. We evolve as artists via learning from«The Dark Night’s of the Soul» to quote Thomas Moore. Those of you who had unpleasant comments about this artist Please use it as an opportunity to evolve. Let’s look at ourselves. Blessing an artist who is having a hard day is healthier for me than anger and resentment. It is so easy to use the internet to Judge others. Let’s cut each other some slack. Life as an artist is hard enough. Let’s work together to be supportive.

I discovered Susan and Heartsong Beads in 2009 and since then, no trip to the Coast is complete without at least one visit to her gallery — I call it that because her work is pure art. Susan’s lampwork is the best I’ve seen in my travels; every bead paints a picture and tells a story. I have to wonder if those who referred to Susan negatively were actually at Heartsong Beads in Seal Rock, OR? Susan has always been pleasant, helpful, and accommodating — on a couple of occasions she took the time to customize her displayed pieces to my color choices and price range, all with a smile and sense of fun. She has put on a «private showing» for me and my elderly aunt, taking time away from her other work to demonstrate how she makes those incredible glass beads. I have nothing but good to say about Susan and the wonderful works of art she creates out of a few rods of glass and random pieces of potential! Heartsong Beads should be on everyone’s list of places to visit on the central Oregon coast!

This store is chock-full of lamp work goodness! The owner/operator is amazingly talented and always willing to lend a hand with any bead project. Her store is set up so that you can view her making her beads and she has beautiful displays of practically every bead you can imagine. Finished jewelry as well is available — beautiful selection for many tastes. Heartsong is always a destination for me when I’m in Seal Rock!

I am an avid beader and I sell jewelry at shows and online. I like to hit every bead store I can. I just came back from a trip to the Oregon Coast and had a fabulous time visiting many friendly bead stores throughout the area. This was not one of them. The store is nice and they have pretty things, but I would never go back because they owner has a horrendous attitude. I went to another shop who kindly mentioned Heartsong and said they were having a sale on lampwork glass. I was super excited to visit. When I walked in there was a nice lady working there, but she had been gone for a while and didn’t know much about what was going on currently. I asked about the sale and she said she hadn’t heard of one, but that she could reach out to the owner. Before she could do that, the owner walks in. The salesperson explained I’d been told there was a sale and she rudely said no there is no sale. I had also mentioned I had a resale number so the sales person asked if there was a discount for resale? The owner walks over to me and looks at me rudely and says it’s over $ 200.00 only and it’s 10 percent. I should have left then, but I had a few things in my basket. I spent thousands in Oregon on this trip, but I wasn’t about to spend a ton with this woman’s attitude so I went up to the register to check out and the salesperson said she was sorry again about the misunderstanding with the sale. I didn’t say anything, but the owner yells from the back. What is she spending? $ 30.00, just go ahead and give her the discount in the nastiest tone ever. The girl looked shocked. There was another woman in the store who was appalled at her tone. I was almost in tears because I was so taken aback that someone would be so rude to a customer. If I hadn’t already given the salesperson my card I would have dumped my stuff and left. The salesperson whispered she was sorry and I honestly just felt bad for her working at this establishment. Do not visit this place unless you wish to be abused. The owner needs to check her attitude or perhaps consider a line of work where she doesn’t interact with people.

I have known this artist since she came to the coast. This gallery store is her best venture yet. The store layout makes for perfect viewing while you pondered a selection. Her beads are excellent: well made and flawless. I recommend this store for all bead shoppers, gift buyers and lookers. I bet you won’t walk out empty handed.
