I was stationed in Germany for year +. I have not been able to find authentic German since I left, that is until now. The food is spot on and the potions are large enough for two meals. We will be back!

Love this place. Homey, comfort food galore, great portions and great service. It’s a mom and pop, with husband outside doing the seating and being very German, with wife in the back ruling the kitchen. This has been a go to place for us when we want to splurge. Really good place, highly recommended.

Wow! This has got to be the best German food I have had in ages. Authentic and delicious, it reminded me of my grandparents cooking. If your looking for delicious REAL German food this is the place to go. The Wurstteller was awesome!

We lived in Germany for three years and always look for German restaurants when we travel. We have always been disappointed with the Americanized German food that we have encountered — until now. Stammtisch has AUTHENTIC German dishes. We are thrilled to have discovered this place we will certainly dine here whenever we come to Monterey.

Disclaimer: I’m from Colorado/northern New Mexico. So unlike Californians, I don’t have unattainable expectations of perfect service and perfect food(nor do I pretend that I’ve had better.) O try to I judge purely on service and flavor. And my main expectation is: could I cook this myself? They passed that test with flying colors! I could not even dream of cooking german food so well. At first, my wife and I almost left once we looked at the prices, but I’m glad we stayed. We ordered the Hauseplatte, a side of spätzel, and the Zwiebelsuppe. The Zwiebelsuppe was A+, very flavorful. We were also amazed that the fluffy, browned spätzel had that much flavor! The beef was almost falling apart on the plate! And the Schnitzel was tender and moist. My wife and I barely talked as we stared into space, thinking about how this meal changed everything we know about life. The service was also great! The Austrian owner was very pleasant and even made sure to explain the best way to eat the food. We will return again every chance we get. We may not have much money, but it’s with it!

Hands down one of the best restaurants I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating in. We ordered the Hausplatte(breaded chicken scjnitzel, bratwurst, roasted pork, potatoes and cabbage) and Claudia’s Hausscjnitzel(breaded pork scjnitzel covered in mushrooms, onions, and cheese, spaetzle and cabbage) and every. single. bite. was glorious. The flavors are all very clean and distinct; The bratwurst was surprisingly fragrant, the potatoes seasoned well, and the scjnitzel’s were breaded and crisped perfectly while being completely moist inside. Hats off to the wonderful Chef at Stammtisch. I didn’t get her name, but she was kind enough to come out of the kitchen and check to see how everyone’s food was. My fiancée and I couldn’t stop eating, she almost licked her plate clean and then we took an hour food-coma nap in the parking lot. Glorious.

I’ve visited many«German Restaurants» and try to find one at every location I have business travel at. This week, staying in Monterey, this location came up and I wanted to try. I had a large Pilsner and Claudia’s Hausschnitzel. The Schnitzel was very good — brown gravy and mushrooms sealed it. The Spatzle was icing on the cake 1 one of the best recipes I’ve had. I you’re looking for some good food other than Thai, Mexican, pizza or wraps — you better try this out. Definitely a place to visit more than once!

I’m a Pacific Islander and was a bit skeptical at first to come here, thinking it was just sausages, but they actually had more than that. The food was delicious. It has a «home cooking» taste to it. Really authentic. But I would say a great pairing to go with a great meal is great service. The staff was super friendly and the head chef/owner came and hand delivered our food and also checked in on us from time to time. She floated in and out of the kitchen and had time to make sure her customers had everything they needed. I love that!

Place was great. The service was amazing and the food was delicious. Can’t wait to be back in the area to have a meal there again. If you enjoy German food you will not be disappointed here.

Excellent, friendly service and incredibly good food every time. I’ve also had a banquet meal there with almost 40 people and they were totally accommodating.

This place is a great German food restaurant. My friend and I stopped here on the way to big Sur and were highly impressed of how wonderful their food is. Jagger schnitzel was to die for, also the cheese appetizer was so good! Black Forest cake for dessert! Wow! So good!

Wonderful German food. Reminds me our trip to Munchkin. Great hospitality and atmosphere. They did not have Apple Strudel tonight which I was looking forward to but the forest cake was a good substitute.

After reading the reviews on here to make reservations prior to arriving, I called 45 minutes before and was the first party to arrive. I was greeted by a shorter German man with a strong accent who welcomed us to sit down at any table we would like. We sat and he asked us for our drink order. He brought out our drinks and was very friendly throughout our visit. We both ordered the weinerschnitzel and I asked for red cabbage on the side. The food was tasty and was seasoned perfectly. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves German food.

Had dinner last Friday night, absolutely wonderful! We didn’t have a reservation and they welcomed us without hesitation. But glad to know for future visits. It felt like we went to visit our own family for dinner. Such a warm and inviting experience. Plan to go back!

Stammtisch is German for reserved! So as the name suggests, make sure to call ahead for that reservation if you want to be seated for dinner service! They make enough food to accommodate guests with reservations plus just a little extra. Walk-ins may be turned away, asked to wait or rushed through their meal. No reservations required for lunch, walk-ins are welcome. The lunch menu is somewhat simpler requiring less preparation for service. Nighttime finds more involved specials like the Roasted Pork Knuckle & Liver Dumplings. These two dishes are not on the menu, but served periodically. I generally call ahead before traveling to Monterey to see if either of those specials are being offered during my visit. The staff & ambiance enhance the German feel to the establishment & the food puts the experience over the top. Their schnitzel is out of this world good & my go to during lunchtime. The Hausplatte is my regular dinner favorite, it’s a sampler of famous German dishes. Twelve Bottled German Beirs are available &4 more on tap. The Black Forest Cake is phenomenal, highly recommended! Eat a couple bites & take the rest to go if you’re full from dinner. The place is very reasonably priced for real German food prepared by the best!!!

This was the first time for the hubby and I to try authentic German food. We made a reservation, and were seated as soon as we arrived. The restaurant was moderately busy on Saturday night. The waitresses was friendly and could pronounce everything on the menu correctly! The owner walked around often, smiling and checking on customers. I ordered that night’s special which was a pork chop with gravy(so delicious), dumpling, and sauerkraut. The hubby ordered the sausage plate. The gravy was so delicious I wish I ordered extra. The Dumpling was large and delicious, and vaguely reminded me of Italian gnocchi. My husband’s sausage plate included a veal sausage, which was divine! We both ordered medium beers. I was worried we would be served too much food, but we were served the perfect amount. Ended up spending about $ 70 for the two of us.

We ended up here after trying to go to another restaurant and finding the hours listed on Unilocal to be incorrect. We had been meaning to try this place anyhow so we went. We were kindly greeted and our waitress was super helpful. We ordered one senior meal, one of the sample plates, a kids hot dog and a sausage plate. Everything was good. We were even checked on by someone who I believe to be the chef. I wouldn’t say this was outstanding and the prices here are a bit higher than some other places you could eat especially in this area of town, but for something a little different and probably authentic this was pretty solid. Not a place we will frequent often, but a place we will likely return to.

I can’t speak to authenticity as I’ve never actually been to Germany. What I can tell you is the restaurant is absolutely a pleasure to be in. The owners are adorable and very friendly. We did not have a reservation, but were waiting when they opened for dinner service and were accommodated without any issue. They recommended a platter that was kind of like a sampler platter. I wish we had listened and just gotten that. Instead, thinking it was like mots places we got that plus our own dinner courses. I got a chicken dish while my husband got a sausage plate. It was all so amazingly delicious, but neither of us could even finish our plates let alone the sampler. Their schnitzel is out of this world good! We didn’t dislike anything we had. The service was also VERY attentive, friendly, and helpful. We had our 2 year old in tow and they did great to try and also keep her happy. however, I would say they aren’t well-equipped for kids, so if you can, leave them at home. You’ll enjoy your dinner much more. If you’re in the area, this is worth the wait.

WOW… is really the only word that comes to mind… Take it from me… 1) Don’t judge a restaurant by its location/décor 2) Order the sampler platter(forgot the name but it has a little bit of everything amazing) 3) Sausage platter is stupendous as well! 4) Food comes out quickly but don’t let that fool you 5) Dessert is sublime especially the lemon cake Service is friendly and unobtrusive Overall Thoughts While I haven’t been to Germany, I can say with 100% certainty that Stammtisch has done a great job of representing their country!

Ich hat in Wiesbaden für drei Jahre gewohnt. Ich hat die Essen vom Deutschland vermisst. Und die Bieren! Das war die Besten. Needless to say when I heard that there was an authentic German restaurant in Seaside… I knew I had to go. It would just be wrong of me to miss the chance for German food in America, especially with so many good reviews. I went in with such a high sense of hope for the food. The atmosphere was right on point. Straight from Bavaria. The standard German music and woodwork sent me right back to my days on the town with the schnitzel and beers. I got the Jägerschnitzel and it came with the potatoes. It was beyond delicious. The mushroom sauce was the perfect consistancy and flavoring. This is the cheapest you can get German food without spending over $ 1000 on plane tickets and hours of painful travel and headaches from TSA screenings and adjusting to Jet Lag. My only qualm with this restaurant is that the owners are not German. They are Austrian. They do speak fluent German and will gladly speak to you in German if you know it.
