E-Z Rent a Car

I rent cars frequently, all around the country. I made a reservation with EZ-​rent a car at Seatac, based on the experience I had with EZ in Las Vegas, which was outstanding, and also the great rate.
I went to the rental counter a few minutes ahead of my reservation time, and waited a reasonable length of time behind a couple customers ahead of me. When I reached the counter, I was told «it will be a few minutes, we don’t have a clean car yet. Take a seat, we will call you when one is available». Hmm, never heard that one before…
I took a seat and started the timer on my phone. 15 minutes later I checked back with the counter and was told there was still a couple of customers ahead of me, and no estimate on how long it would be. To shorten this review I’ll spare you the details, but I ended up waiting 40 minutes (after waiting to reach the counter) and still no car. Frustrated, I was fortunately able to get a car with Payless (right next to EZ), for essentially the same rate.
The EZ employees were reasonably friendly, not very helpful, and the entire experience was a bust. I have added EZ (along with FOX) to my «don’t be suckered in by the low rate» list for SEA, unless of course your time has no value.

Surprise «mandatory» additional charges all over the place. Don’t bother with the ‘insurance’- it doesn’t cover anything.

I had an amazing experience with E-​Z Rent at the Seattle Airport. I had originally made the reservation and paid online. Before I left for my vacation I read some reviews on Unilocal and almost ditched my paid reservation and went with other rental company, i am glad i didn’t. I am not sure why so many people had a bad experience there.
The person at the counter was very professional, she answered all my questions. She asked me for a credit card ($ 200 in deposit) and my proof of insurance. It took me 5mins to get out of there. After getting down to the parking lot i presented my receipt, the lady gave me a piece of paper to mark any damages to the vehicle, i found about 5 different scratches and few minor dents which i made sure to to mark it on the paper. I went back to the lady in the booth she took my paper and copied what i had marked and told me i was ready to go.
I drove to Vancouver, left the car at my hotel and took shuttle every morning to Whistler, Blackcomb. I drove back after four days and returned the car before getting on the plane.
When I returned the car, there was a very nice and friendly older woman who inspected the car. She asked me about the scratches and dents, i showed her the receipt and the inspection slip that i had marked, she signed it and thanked me and off i went to the booth to hand over the keys. The girl at the booth was very nice and friendly as well. The whole process took less than 5mins. 15 mins later i got to the airport and i noticed receipt on my email with no additional charge.
I paid under 100 bucks for 5 days including taxes. The car was Nissan Versa and it was washed and cleaned spotless when i got it. Not to mention i spent $ 25 in gas to drive to Vancouver and back. My small Lexus Hybrid CT takes more gas than that. Overall, I was thrilled with the service and the amazing value.
Few things to keep in mind:
–You need credit card for deposit like every other rental company requires, even if you have already paid for the car.
— If you are going to cross any bridges please make sure to buy the toll pass at the counter.
Bridges in Seattle are unmanned and if you cross without obtaining the toll pass you will pay ticket and tolls, which could cost you up to $ 200.
— If you are denying the insurance provided by the rental company be sure to bring your proof of insurance paper.
— Inspect the vehicle and mark any damages carefully and show it to the booth attendant before taking off. If you are paranoid, take picture with your phone as a proof. Keep the copy of your inspection slip with you, you will need to show it as a proof when returning the vehicle.
— If you didn’t make reservation ahead of time, there is a possibility you may not get to rent a car. I don’t think it is their responsibility to provide car to each and every customer that comes to the counter. Often times i find customers at airport car rentals easily irritable due to travel stress and tend to vent on those poor people who work the counter.
— People go with E-​Z Rent for it’s low prices, so don’t expect them to act like the concierge at Hilton. Although 2 out the of the 4 staff i interacted with were very friendly. The other two were professional and prompt, that is all i care for.
I highly recommend them. Reserve ahead online to save money. Go in prepared with all your documents and positive attitude. Use common sense and make sure you inspect your car.

My wife rented a car from Seatac and while driving to Ocean Shores, she noted that a tire was losing air pressure. She stopped and filled it but it is still leaking. She called the company but the «Manager» told her that the only thing they could do for her was tow another car to her and tow the one with the leaking tire back, however, she would have to pay for this service. UNACCEPTABLE! They should have sent her to a local tire shop to have it repaired at THEIR expense. BEWARE if you rent a car here as you might not know a tire has a leak until you are 50 miles away and when that happens, you are on your own!
Also, they checked another customer’s car back in and charged my wife’s card while she still has her rental. Said they would fix it and still have not as of today. Impressive customer service.

If I could give them zero stars I would. We had to wait almost 30 minutes to get the car because they had two different customers in front of us who had to change cars due to someone smoking cigarettes in one and marijuana in the other. They didn’t have other cars for them so they upgraded them (at the customers expense of course).
When they finally rented me my car the employee at the counter pushed their $ 25 insurance like it was mandatory.
After we finally got the contract signed and went to get the car we discovered that they didn’t have the car. They had no idea where it was. They sent ME to look for it in the stalls when they couldn’t find the keys. They switched me to another car without informing me until I refused to sign the contract unless they explained what they were doing.
They send you to your car to do your own damage inspection. (Make sure you use a flashlight). The doors, bumpers, trunk, and hood were all scratched and dented. When I returned to the booth the attendant refused to go see the car, she just wrote down what I told her, didn’t give me a copy, and told me I was ok to leave.
When I tried to leave I had to wait a full ten minutes for the third attendant to let us out of the parking lot. Apparently he took a break and was very unhappy about us expecting to be able to leave.
The car was decently maintained inside and was relatively clean, so I have no complaints about the inside.
All in all it took almost an hour and a half to get the car and leave.
When we dropped the car off it took more than a half hour to get it checked in. The attendant checking them in disappeared and the two in the booth refused to leave to do the job.
Worst. Rental company. Ever.
I would have paid twice as much to not deal with them. I canceled three other rentals I had for upcoming trips and rebooked with other companies.

if you want to spend vacation time waiting for a car for 1.5 hrs… this place is for you. it’ll be a greaaaat start to your trip in Seattle…

Horrible customer service, have waited over an hour for my car and am still waiting. To be avoided at all costs.

We got into SeaTac later than expected, and they had given our car away… No car for us!

You get what you pay for. The car was a piece of junk. In Seattle and leave airport and find my windshield wipers suck. Found there was no automatic key lock. Had to crawl over seats
to open doors for passengers throughout the week. Then the low tire warning came on and stayed on till I dropped it off.
Have to say the drop off was quick, but after telling her about the issues with the car she just
said sorry Merry Christmas. Will pay more to get something decent.

A few days after completing my rental with this E-​Z Rent a car branch, my credit card was charged by advantage rent a car for E-​Z toll. As part of my rental agreement with E-​Z rent a car, I had purchased the daily E-​Z toll charge.
So I decide to call the rental location and Sharon the night supervisor for Saturday (¹¹⁄₂₈) answered the call. I went on to ask about why advantage rent a car charged my credit card additional toll charges after accepting E-​Z Toll charges for the rental period and was told to take it up with advantage rent a car that charged me the toll charges. I asked Sharon if E-​Z rent a car uses a third party service to process E-​Z tolls and was told that all charges are initiated from E-​Z rent a car. Reviewing the E-​Z rental agreement, I noticed the number listed on the E-​Z toll optional product section was for advantage rent-​a-​car. So Sharon failed to mention that both companies have merged or in the process of merging.
Till this date I haven’t been offered assistance on this matter from neither E-​Z rent a car nor advantage rent a car.

My husband is not the type to Unilocal but when I heard and then saw what happened after he rented from this company I had to warn people.

Be very careful when renting a car from this place. My husband had a job in Seattle and reserved ahead for a 1 day rental of $ 70. The next day he returned the car. He checked it into the parking area and received a ticket with the return milage, date, and that the gas was full. When he got upstairs the lines were very long and he was close to his flight so he asked a rep at the desk if he was ok with the check in downstairs or not. She replied that it was fine if he had the check in ticket and he left straight to the airport and flew out.
Flashforward 2 weeks: Our American Express bill arrives with 10 different charges from E-​Z Rent a Car. $ 112, $ 260, $ 110, on and on to the amount of $ 1400! We immediately called them and were told that my husband had not returned the car for 2 weeks! They wouldn’t even look into it or help so we decided to go through American Express to dispute.
E-​Z Rent a Car supplied Amex with an invoice that has different milage, dates, charge amounts etc. Weird thing is that SOMEONE drove the car an additional 160 miles after he dropped it off???
Is this a horrible paper mess up or is this company fraudulently using these cars and charging people for it?
I have never experienced anything like this in all my travels of the world. WORST customer service I have ever encoutered and would highly recommend that you go else where unless you want to pay 10x more than you actually used their services for.
Not to mention hours on the phone trying to get the charges dropped… E-​Z Rent a Car will not stay in business long with this sort of practice going on.
PS. I’ve seen all the other comments about rude customer service on here and believe me ITS TRUE!

We always use this rental car service because like some people, we are price conscious. However, you give me bad service, once, I will let people know. I work for the travel industry so let’s not even use that as an excuse.
My poor mom, after traveling for 12 hours at this point wanted to only pick up her car and then drive it home. Yes, I know the people working the front desk are tired and are constantly being yelled at but, you CHOSE to take this job, therefore, handle it with empathy. If you cannot do that, there are plenty of other jobs for you to do. My mom asked him to explain something and he literally stared at her and said «no». He also, ended up charging us for two cars when really, we had reservations for one.
The guy downstairs was much nicer and gave my mom the manager’s name for her to call. She called him the next day and he fixed everything and was much more professional and empathetic than his service representatives.
I hope the next time we come to SEATAC, we don’t run into this issue again.

i can’t say it enough, i will never come back. rude and they charge for everything. nick and dime you to death. $ 11 a day to add a driver etc.

I reserved a rental car through
, and was saddled with the unfortunate monstrosity of dealing with E-​Z Rent a Car. My trip was from 10÷15−18, and I returned the car on the morning of ¹⁰⁄₁₈ at 6am, earlier than my reservation required. I received signed confirmation that the car was returned in good condition (which wasn’t saying much, as the car had a great deal of external damage and stains all over the seats) and went on my merry way.
Somehow, now 2 weeks later. I am STILL dealing with this horrible company. They continued to charge my card daily until I noticed the charges, stating that the car had been «lost» and that I was still paying a daily rate, even though they later admitted that I did indeed return it on the morning of ¹⁰⁄₁₈. I have now spent over 2 hours on hold, spoke to multiple customer service representatives, talked to 2 managers (one of whom, David Gundel, was extremely rude and unapologetic), and still have received only a partial refund. I’ve even contacted the corporate office, to no avail. I was charged a total of $ 287.96 and still owed $ 67.37 back. In fact, I have been on hold for the fourth day in a row waiting to speak to any person who can assist me for 24 minute and 26 seconds, and I expect I will be waiting here until the day that I die.
DO NOT RENT WITH THIS COMPANY. They are an absolute scam, and obviously were going to continue charging me until I noticed what they were doing, even though I returned the car early and on time, and in better condition than I received it in.

The worst rental car company there is. Pre-​paid for my car and when I arrived at the airport in Seattle they did not have any cars left! The woman told me there MIGHT be one coming in at 2am but wasn’t sure. That is completely ridiculous and now I know why their prices are so low… they screw over customers like me! Will never rent from them again!
update 10÷13÷15: Was never refunded my money and when I contacted customer service, was placed on hold FOREVER!!! A representative commented on my post that this happens from time to time however this has never happened to me before and I rent from multiple companies. I even asked if there is a partner company that they could set me up with and pay the difference and the representative at the SEA/​TAC airport said «no sorry». I’m very disappointed and no one should ever rent from this company!

Like many airports, the rental car service at Seatac is not too far away from the airport and has its own building. Shuttles run 24hrs and arrive around every 15 minutes. Depending on time of day, this could be packed and usually another shuttle is on its way.
I was late when I arrived. So nobody was at the usual counter like most of the other car rentals. I had to go down stairs to the actual floor where the car was.
There was a booth and 2 people in it. I did the check out process and got my car.
Easy, maybe not the fastest, but good enough.
Price was good and the people there were friendly.
I was given a Toyota Yaris. I dont know if you can pick and choose, but this was good enough for my trip to Vancouver BC.

Upon returning the car, I forgot my jacket and I called them when I was at the airport. Julio found it and I gave him an address to send it to and he said he would take care of it and I would get charged for the shipping.
But the fact he actually checked for it and found it and told me was good.

I was relieved when I walked up to the counter and there wasn’t a line. To my dismay, I STILL waited about 20 minutes once I arrived and the agent (after I asked the status of the car) told me she could give me a MINI VAN when I requested a Jetta or a similar car. #FAIL
I didn’t complain because I was hungry and ready to leave. I followed the instructions to go to the car garage and to my surprise they had several cars downstairs that appeared to be available.
I went back to the agents in the parking garage and without question they traded the car for a nice small compact car (not sure why I wasn’t offered that in the beginning). Big sigh of relief, my cool points were still intact… Epic Fail averted!

Had a really E-​Z time (*groan*) using this car rental company during my recent trip to Seattle. I needed a mid-​week rental for 1.5 days and made my reservation on
2 days before departure. Give yourself an hour after your planned arrival for your car pickup — flight delays + shuttle time to get to the rental area should put you right around 60 minutes late. When in doubt, always leave yourself a buffer with your car reservation; the other reviews should be a good enough testament to that.
I walked right up to the booth and was immediately helped. They had my reservation on file, and after handing over my Visa + DL and signing my waiver, I had a receipt in hand and was on my way down to the first floor of the parking garage to get my keys. No hidden fees or charges beyond what I agree to at my reservation ($ 39/​day + the compulsory fees); I had a key to a 2015 Toyota Camry in hand within 15 seconds of getting downstairs.
No dings or dents on my car, just hopped in and was on my way. Unlimited mileage is my favorite part of renting a car, and I enjoyed my stay in Seattle with the flexibility and freedom that having a car afforded me (even though I had to play Über driver for my colleagues & give them rides to/​from the airport — karma points earned). There aren’t any gas stations right next to the airport, but I was able to stop off an exit at a 76 less than 5 minutes from the car rental location on my way out of town.
Checking back in was quick and easy, and I had more than enough time to make my flight home. Not sure why everyone else had such a nightmare of a time, but if you’re nervous about this place you should be fine. Happy driving!

Great small car rental agency.
Located within the «Consolidated Car Rental» facility about 10 minutes outside the airport.
If you rent from them, they are NOT like Hertz, National, Enterprise or any large corporate car rental agency.
They are a small company privately owned and gradually making their way into the US. I have seen them in England and Europe so I knew it was safe.
You MUST read thru their detail rental agreement ahead of time. Do NOT assume they are like the mega huge rental agencies.
Reason: other folks who also made reservations ahead of time were shocked with their rules.
I was not shocked — I did my homework ahead of time by reading thru: E-​Z car rental website & TripAdvisor.
When my flight was a bit delayed, I called them to let them know to hold my reservation as their pick up window is 1 hour. They were very nice on the phone and said no problem.
When I arrived an hour and half later, there were others who obviously did not read the reservation details — they kept arguing with the representatives. Most did not know they they needed to provide their insurance company declaration and credit card company’s secondary insurance policies as well as a credit card as the debit cards are not the same…
I got my rental exactly as originally reserved — no surprises, no extra costs, no forced insurance. Just great service and the rep even thanked me for calling them ahead of time to ask for a time extension — otherwise they would have given away the car to someone else if pass the 1 hour time limit. Used my Visa and had all my documents in hand for an easy $ 35 per day rental with unlimited mileage!
Guess most folks ASSUME this company is like the mega rentals — it is not — they will force you to take the CDW insurance if you don’t provide:
* Valid CURRENT insurance card (not outdated like most have in their possession)
* Current insurance DECLARATION of coverage (single page declaring you have insurance for collision and liability and it covers rental cars while vacationing)
* Credit card company insurance coverage details from Visa/​MC/​Amex (SECONDARY COVERAGE)
* CREDIT CARD (no debit cards) as the credit card gives you security deposit hold and the secondary insurance when you decline CDW/​PDW, etc…
When we got to the car by going down 5 levels in the elevator, make sure you INSPECT the car before you leave.
We found numerous dings, scratches, gouges, and other signs of wear on their 2014 car! We reported them to the rep in the garage booth and she made a note of them so that we won’t get charged upon return.
Staff very nice, courteous, and professional both in/​out of their facility.
Make sure you fill up the gas tank to the same level as when you left outside of SEATAC — there are no gas stations nearby. Some people did not know this and were charged $ 6/​gallon of gas (local gas prices was $ 3 per gallon when we were there). We filled up in Tacoma and returned the car with perfect fuel level and did not get charged a cent.
Overall would return again!
