Aesop

I love Aesop skin care and have been using it for 6 years. It’s cruelty free, natural, great for sensitive skin, and a high end product. Chelsea, the manager at the Freemont store, was very friendly and helpful. I felt like I was welcomed there as a valued customer even on my first visit to their shop. I will definitely be going back. One of the best things about Aesop is that you can ask for samples if you want to try something so be sure to get a couple before you leave or stop in and ask for a few if you want to try before you buy!

I am SO HAPPY we have an Aesop here in Seattle. After years of bringing back soap and body wash and lotion on trips from Melbourne and Sydney, we now only have to go a mile or so from home. Moreover, they stock everything (unlike Barney’s) and you can try it all. If we could get a MUD ceramics and a branch of DOC, we’d have our own little version of Fitzroy here in Seattle.

Stopped in today to pick up some classic conditioner (which we originally found in an airplane amenity kit, or maybe a hotel). We got excellent service by our consultant Kat. Our dog Freddie was welcomed (and it sounds like all worldwide Aesops have a dog bowl outside). We picked up some shampoo, conditioner and some aromatherapy rub to calm upset stomachs. I like this place! They don’t take themselves too seriously (they allow dogs, and sell post-​poo drops). Five stars!

This is definitely not a «stop in and browse» shop.
I was excited to check it out for the first time after hearing so many great reviews of the products by YouTubers. It was completely empty except for the two ladies working, eager to assist you. I also work in retail so I understand the frustration when someone doesn’t want help. However, it’s almost impossible to browse in the quiet cave of a store without feeling like you’re constantly being watched.
No prices on the walls which was odd to me as I tried to get a feel for if my wallet could even handle this store.
Overall underwhelming experience of the brand, not necessarily the employees. Just the nature of the store has a weird vibe.

The employees here must me on commission only. It’s the only thing that would explain my experience.
I went in based on trying a sample of the display testers. They would have had a sale if they followed basic customer service 101. The saleswoman though very friendly, proceeded to grab my hand and massage said lotion into it while giving her pitch. Very awkward and a total invasion of personal space. Ask first.
I just wanted to buy the lotion I had tried, NOT be held hostage and pressured to buy a whole skin care regimen by someone who would not take my «no thank you» for an answer. I was literally backing out the door (sale lost) and she was in my face!
The cherry on the whole experience was her condescending attitude when I clarified that I just wanted to purchase lotion. Her whole tone and demeanor indicated that I had the problem– that it’s totally normal to ambush your customers and run your mouth during the entire encounter.
Pro tip: a good salesperson listens more than they talk.
Oh and put prices on your inventory. It’s much more consumer friendly.

Wow is this place cool. Pricey but really cool. Don’t let the cave-​like quality of the view from the street scare you off. It’s beautiful and welcoming once inside the store. The employee was very knowledgable about the products, which are are all natural and feature some fascinating fragrances. She even knew which ones were meant to compliment one another – no small task given the vastness of the offering and the complexities of ingredients and scents. The company is from Australia. This is their first location in Seattle – joining their other locations in New York, Hong Kong, Paris and Melbourne. Check it out. You won’t be disappointed.
