It’s absolutely amazing that a grocery store this terrible exists in such a nice neighborhood. It’s baffling…
The produce section is always grimy and the veggies look sad and tired. I feel dirty when I leave here.
We need a Trader Joe’s in Magnolia BADLY.

This store gets poor reviews because it needs to be remodelled. Also, stay away from the Deli.
That said, it is actually better than many stores in the area for prices and product. The produce and meat sections are better quality than the nearest store, Metropolitan Market, at LITERALLY half the price. They actually remove the pin bones from their fish, and the meat is fresher because they move enough of it that it doesn’t sit on the shelf long.
The bakery makes really good cookies, granola, bread and more, all cheap and fresh. The shelf items are competitively-​priced, if not cheaper, and the cashiers are mostly very friendly people.

By far the worse place to buy groceries, first off the prices are, well simply put, crazy, .75 a can of friskies cat food… Really? $ 3.00 for eggs, to name a few then, the service particularly at the deli counter is rude to say the least and disrespectful. If I am paying $ 13 for a pound of cheese, be nice about it! Next the produce I seen mold on a avocado I mean is that even possible? (See picture) And the prices are no better. In magnolia there is not too much as far as grocery stores, granted, but it’s worth the trip to go to Ballard I’m done here!

Great store which gets poor reviews because it happens to be among so many douchebag magnolites in a very snobby area. The building is old yes, but it is clean. I’ve had horrible service at other grocery stores such as interbay QFC, whole foods, and fred meyer. This Albertsons however has a very friendly, down-​to-​earth staff, and people that really do go out of their way to help you. Karen especially is our favorite cashier, and we always try to step in her line even if it means a little longer of wait. She’s always fun to chat with, and is a very genuine person. If there is any area of opportunity (and yes there are always areas for improvement) it is the deli. Often very slow service, and generally inconsistent. So if you’re a snob concerned with age of a building, and availability of cheese and wine tasting, go to the over-​priced metropolitan market. If you want a genuine, comfortable grocery shopping store, hit up Albertsons.

I only go here to use Coinstar or RedBox. This store is so dirty that I don’t trust purchasing any of the products here. Not only are the floors in terrible shape (need a good cleaning), but I have also on multiple occasions found dust on items on the shelves. The produce looks sad and old. The bakery section only offers cheap items made by other companies. If they do make anything fresh, it doesn’t look that appetizing. I’m a bit surprised about this, since Albertsons in other areas of Seattle are just fine. However, if you want to grocery shop in Magnolia, go to Metropolitan Market instead.

Best store in magnolia based on price and quality. It’s not as Gucci as Whole Foods or Metropolitan market but still a decent place to shop if Trader Joe’s is closed or you don’t want to drive to Ballard. Good fried chicken too.

You know, I’m a BIG fan of Albertsons. I’m giving this location a 3 star… but really, it should be 1 star… for having BURNT, BLACK grilled chicken… just sitting in the counter in the deli. It was inedible and unappealing… why would you display your old, literally charcoal chicken? Yuck. Their food is usually old by the end of your work day.
Their deli service usually only has 1 person working there… and majority of the time, they are nowhere to be found. NOWHERE I tell you. I’ve even had the deli person walk pass me, stare at me, and just walked away. Lol. How did I know he was in the deli? He went back in as I walked away, annoyed. Meh.
Otherwise, they are really nice and location is okay. Smaller than the one in Mercer Island, up north and in on the East side… but they still have same quality. Except for the deli service.

The only reason I give them a 2 is because of their dairy. They have the awesome cottage cheese, yogurt and milk section. The pet section is decent too.

First I’d like to commend the North Seattle Albertson’s (I believe it’s on 125^th) on always delivering such a fantastic customer service experience. So fantastic that I drive 20 minutes out of my way to visit the North Seattle Albertsons rather than Safeway or QFC.
To save some time this weekend I decided to visit an Albertsons location closer to my home, this being the Magnolia store. Having been there only once before, I had a hard time locating the items on my list. At the Albertsons I typically visit, there is always someone available to answer my questions and even walk me to the correct aisle. I assumed this service was the standard at all locations, but I was mistaken. After struggling to find corn tortillas for 5 minutes, I asked the first employee I saw (someone in the bakery) for assistance. He replied, «Uhhhhhh I actually don’t know.» I expected that he would follow-​up with, «Let me check with someone else,» but he did not. He remained behind the counter and went about his business.
Annoyed, I wasted another 5 minutes finding these tortillas myself. I checked out and ended up getting lost on the way home but that’s another story in itself.
After putting all of the groceries away, I decided to make a sandwich using the gluten-​free bread I had purchased at your store. I was so excited to find gluten-​free bread, I haven’t been able to enjoy bread in quite some time due to my gluten intolerance. As I opened the package I could almost taste my delicious sandwich… that is, until THE BREAD DISINTEGRATED IN MY HAND. No joke. The slice of bread literally turned into dust in the palm of my hand. I checked the expiration date (which was printed INSIDE of the bag, ridiculous) and it read, «02÷13÷2013». I bought this bread on 03/​17/​2013. Would they sell me meat that had expired a month ago? Doubtful.
Because I received such poor service and got miserably lost the last time I visited this particular store, I would really rather not have to go back to return the loaf of bread (and «loaf» is being generous, it’s really just a bag of rotten bread dust).
So, now I’m stuck with rotten bread dust and a hungry belly.

Absolutely, Unequivocally one of the worst Grocery Stores I’ve ever had the displeasure of visiting, and I often have to as I live in area and only ride bus’ or bike.
A couple stories about how gross and overpriced this hell hole is.
FIRST TIME I ever went there I got deli meat that promptly went bad on me the next day.
I HEARD people have seen RATS running around there.
I went there for milk one day for my baby daughter. All the organic whole milk was being sold on same day it was expiring and I mentioned this to the Stocker/​Worker near me and he told me, and I quote «Oh it’s expiring today, we are allowed to sell it». My jaw dropped to the ground as I thought to myself, what a self righteous, overly self important pompous piece of shit thing for ANY Grocer to ever do or say. Yes oh ok sure, its ‘legal’ but really, not the moral thing to EVER do, EVER!
Go to any grocer and look at milk dates that are on sale and the dates are NOT EVEN on that day.
I am baffled by the people who actually seem to choose this place to shop.
Its like going somewhere to ask them to kick you straight in the nuts, then spit on you while you’re down on the ground.
Rudest Grocery Store EVER!

this store“was «the low price leader in the area making the sub par meat and produce department acceptable for my weekly vists. Since they did away with the old rewards plan, prices are higher than the local QFC, hence that is where I now shop. Sorry Albertsons the new rewards plan isn’t. !!

Being new to the area, I thought I’d stop by and check out the selection at some of the local supermarkets. I know that Acme (back east) is owned by Albertson’s so I should have expected the sticker shock that I experienced, but nothing really prepares you for grocery prices that are 2.5 times what you’re used to paying. If you don’t hit a store sale that you can match with a coupon, you’re really going to get ripped off here.
Additionally, I didn’t find a fresh butcher counter. The deli counter was quite small and didn’t carry much variety, although that seems to be fairly typical of this area. The produce department didn’t seem to carry anything outside of the mainstream. (For instance, they only had vine ripe and beefsteak tomatoes. Blech. No heirlooms that I could find.) I couldn’t find the customer service desk and there was no cart corral in the parking lot. (You have to unload and bring the cart, and all of your kids, all the way back into the store.)
These neighborhood grocery stores have an amazing opportunity to be such gems, and with the financial backing of a national corporation, prices do not need to be this high. I much prefer stores that respect me as a customer by offering competitive prices on their products all the time rather than making me wait for a «stock up sale.» I’m fairly certain that I’ll do my best to avoid this store in the future. I certainly wouldn’t use it for my weekly shopping, and that’s unfortunate because it has a very convenient location.

Pretty crap branch in terms of food. Good beer section.

CHAI Java Monster??? OMG!!!

Small and old. They always run out of the advertised items long before the sales end, then it takes forever to get a raincheck. Their register always rings up the deals wrong too, so keep an eye on it. They say they will give you the item free if it rings wrong, but then you have to stand in the customer service line and fill out paperwork, which is not worth your time.
I only go here because they have the cheapest prices in their ads. I stop in on Wednesdays, when the new ads come out, and buy the loss-​leader items because by Thursday they’ve run out.

Alright, before you call me crazy, I’m a big believer in knowing how to shop the markets that you go to. For the most part, I get all my produce and meat at Asian markets — the only time I come to these American ones is when I want, well, American goods, and they’re on sale.
Such was the case this weekend, where I managed to get Skippy for $ 1 a jar, and Wheat Thins and Triscuits for $ 1.48 each, all standard sizes, all varieties. While I may not buy snacks often (especially for PB, which I have a not-​so-​healthy addiction towards), even I know these are pretty darn low prices.
And even better is their customer service. I bought two of the reduced fat Skippys, only to go home, open one up, and realize that was a terrible mistake (tons of sugar in place of fat — sweet PB? yuck). And guess what? They let me exchange the others, as well as the open jar.

Wait… what? Albertsons still exists? No way, brotato! I hella thought they all got gobbled up by Lucky!
Forgive my Northern California hometown mindset when I was genuinely surprised to see an Albertsons in my new neighborhood. For some reason I could never get over the cheesy old-​school vibe that Lucky brought, so this is a welcoming relief. This location is your basic grocery store, conveniently located within half a mile of my home. Prices are fair, some extremely good deals out there, but nothing to write home about. It is great to have the ability to stop by here on my way home from work and grab everything I need for the night’s meal. Service is perfectly acceptable — not overly kind, but not rude in the least.
Minus one star for the lack of condoms. (No pun intended, but come on! Something that should be available at all supermarkets.)
Oh and it would have been nice to have received an apology when the Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll canister belonging to the person in front of me in line EXPLODED and shot the metal lid into my eye. No, I did not enjoy that. So minus another…

A little bit of midwest here in Seattle’s upscale Magnolia neighborhood.
Not since my days in Lansing, Michigan, did I spend time in such a dirty, depressing grocery store.
There is something deliciously disgusting about a bad caucasian grocery store. I can go to Little Saigon and buy food all day in the grimy aisles and it does not bother me. It does not depress me.
But, this Albertsons seems to embody the despair of the rust belt. It feels like the pain of joblessness, of declining house prices, of economic collapse.
Oddly, it’s in the middle of one of the most expensive neighborhoods north of San Francisco.
Why? Why is it here?
At the check outs, the clerks mope — shuffling back and forth in their spaces.
The wine area is expansive and depressing. Like the wine section of a well stocked post Armageddon corner store. The wine section Mad Max might visit.
The parking lot is not level, leaving the visitor with a feeling of dis-​ease before actually entering the store.
The doors are straight out of 1977, the auto opening, quick closing time. The shudder and wiggle as they open. They seem to be held up by grime and old grease.
The meat department makes you wish that you were shopping in the Repo Man mart — Harry Dean Stanton picking up cans of «Meat» for your nightly meal.
When entering, there is a King County Health Department tetanus stand. Shots are only 50 cents. The woman who staffs it is a real hoot!
Other than that, it’s okay.

As it turns out, I don’t eat out all the time. This makes reviewing grocery stores is one of my hobbies. Naturally.
This Albertson’s store is where it’s at for your daily needs, if you live in or near the Magnolia village. Yes, it is not as pleasant an atmosphere as some in Ballard, or even the QFC on Dravus. BUT– the people are always so friendly, and the prices are drop dead gorgeous.
I eat approximately three oranges per day in the winter. QFC is selling them for $ 1.50 a pound, and Albertson’s is selling them for .99 cents a pound. It makes a big difference.
Plus, one of the oranges at QFC that I started to peel today had a big hole of rot under the rind. Never had that happen at Al’s– that’s all I’m sayin.
The place has the basics, plus a little extra. The produce dept is small, but it’s got what you need. They sell tons of wine too– it’s a huge wine section for such a small store.
