Amber Nordholm

You know you know a great trainer when, 2 years after seeing her the last time, she is the first one you think of referring a friend to who struggles with back pain. Amber took great care of my wife and I after a horrific car accident. Among dozens of providers we saw, she was one of our favorites. Not only would our pain go from excruciating before starting a session with her to no pain after but she also provided us with tools to maintain that state for prolonged periods of times.
Her personal experience/​injury amplifies her genuine care that she puts in the time she spends with her clients. If you haven’t seen her yet, you haven’t «tried everything» to take care of your chronic joint, back, neck, etc. pain.

I’m a traveler, a rock climber, a cyclist, and a human being on the go – I say all this to give a context to the review I’m about to write. I’ve seen a lot of trainers, physical therapists, sports medicine doctors, and «experts» and practioners in movement and biomechanics over the years, with varying results.
Amber has been one of the best, certainly the first person to not just give me feedback and tips, but to actually give me the tools and teach me the awareness to empower myself in my own health, range of motion, optimal movement.
Until the work I did in my FIRST session with Amber, I had never been able to feel my legs during a handstand or a shoulder stand. Always felt like they were dead weight. Amber’s observations of how I was using or rather, not using my glutes and other muscles in my leg changed my experience of being inverted forever. What the hell, right? That’s a whole lotta bang out of my first FREE session.
I’ve been on the road, and thus have never participated in Amber’s 10 part series, but have now seen her 3 times whenever I’ve been in town and each time has provided me with new tools and awareness to take with me wherever I’m going to take my own structure and movement into my own hands.
The first time, btw, I came to see her because I was having seemingly random knee spasms. From my own experience, I deduced that my knee was the weak link in a chain of misalignment. Trouble was, I didn’t know what to do about it.
Being able to turn standing, sitting, and walking into active and intentional movements instead of passive collapsing ones made all the difference in realigning and reshaping how I walked, how my body lines up, and how I move.
So…ya. 5 stars? She deserves every one.

Amber is absolutely amazing. After years of going to multiple doctors and physical therapists for my chronic tendonitis and knee pain, she has been the only one who has been able to give me precise exercises and physical awareness that make a marked and permanent difference.

Amber has worked wonders for my posture and fitness, and she is great fun to work with. Her simple and precise exercises have helped increase my lung capacity, relieved tension in my shoulders, neck and lower back, and have provided me with extra energy and a bounce in my step.
