An Italian Elite Event @ Wine World

Wine, wine, wine. VERY hard to go wrong with wine!
I arrived a little late because we decided to have dinner before the event, so I didn’t end up tasting any of the baked goods, but I sure enjoyed the Unilocaly company and the wine that kept flowing (and flowing and flowing). I especially enjoyed listening to one man talk about the wine he brought because he was a talkative individual that loved to tell stories, and loved to talk people into drinking another glass of wine. :)
Thank you, Katy, for another awesome opportunity to mingle with fellow Unilocalers, and thank you to Wine World for hosting and pouring wine!

The Elites were wonderfully treated with a wide assortment of Italian Wines provided by Mr, David LeClair and Wine World of North Seattle.
Some of the Elites also brought themed dishes for the potluck. I wish more people would have participated.
It was a great event filled with entertainment, sociallizing with fellow Unilocalers, cool live music, and Wine of course!

The bachi-​ball in the middle of the room was fun, which I’ll admit I thought was an actual sand pit at first. :/​The room size was perfect as it allowed people to walk around and not feel overly crowded. Wine also makes me super warm so it was nice to have some room to spread out.
Great job on the food, Unilocalers! I missed some of the popular dishes, but everything sounded, smelled and looked amazing!
OMG, those cute old men were so fantastic! They had such great spirits and made the experience with the wine that much more authentic. :)

I love the selection at this place. You can buy super inexpensive and fabulous tasting wine, or you can splurge on a more expensive bottle. Buy local or from Spain. They have free wine tastings all the time, and often there are wine events.
I’ve been two a few events at Wine World, the first being Chef Tiberio’s book release of «La Figa» where he catered it with his own food and had nude models as a live art canvases where he covered them in amazing arrays of many thinly sliced fruits. The wine was BYOB — of course, we all bought it at the store when we arrived and brought it in to share. That was pretty smart of them sales-​wise. The next event was another party, just a large group of us trying different wines and enjoying music together. Most recently, I was there for an Elite Unilocal event. The wines we tasted were very nice and on the lower end of the price range, very affordable and impressive flavors for the price. Smooth! We played this lawn bowling kind of game (I have no clue what it’s really called), and there was a live quartet singing. Very sweet. There were hor’d oeuvres and fabulous people.
One complaint: I’m not sure if the staff assumed Unilocalers were all there just for freebies or if we are not wine-​savvy, but it was like pulling teeth to get the pourers to tell me about the wines BEFORE I tasted them, and one of the men was overly cocky about how «this» wine was the best (regardless if I liked it) and it won awards and blah blah. I was like really, dude? There’s no room for opinion? Don’t be so defensive, I just don’t love that one wine, there are at least 6 zillion others I can appreciate. Hopefully that guy will grow to be more open to other people’s experiences and a little more closed with his mouth.
Dave LeClair, the owner, is a fabulously friendly guy, he knows his stuff, is outgoing, and when he poured for me, it was interactive and fun, a memorable experience that made me want to return. I’m really glad to see that he’s had such success with Wine World. Go, Dave!
I most certainly will come back here again and again. I also just heard they will be selling spirits soon — yeah, BOOZE! get all your alcohol in one place. Party on, dude!

It’s easy to think you might get overwhelmed at Wine World. It’s a warehouse, and it’s full of wonderful wines! But never fear, the staff are here to help you narrow down your choices and pick just the right thing.
I appreciate their handy parking, convenient location, and the passion of the staff for their product.
I hadn’t managed to check out Wine World before a recent Elite Event, as I always thought it must be a soulless chain or something… but after hearing a short speech from the owner (David LeClaire) I found out that it’s locally owned! The staff all care about wine and helping you find the perfect bottle (s). I’m very excited to go back for future events!
Due to recent changes in Washington state’s liquor laws, they’ll soon be carrying spirits. I hope that their commitment to great wine carries over, and that they’ll be stocking some great small label spirits.

Really fun, even though I’m not a wine-​o! As such, it was still pretty cool to check out Wine World, which seems like a wine connoisseur’s dream.
I especially liked the fact that there was parking and a nice array of different wines to choose from (not that I know anything about wine)…Oh and the bocci ball! I didn’t play but it was fun to watch. I always like when there’s something interactive at these events rather than just standing around and drinking. It was all around a hit!

I love Wine World enough as it is, and I’ve always gazed longingly into the private event room. And what do you know, they let my sorry bum in, even after I’ve been a Very Bad Unilocaler for quite some time.
Much to my surprise, I even saw some people that I knew! Turns out some of the old gang is still around! (Here’s looking at you, Riss)
There were waaayyyy more wines than a girl could taste in 2 hours (on a school night, at least), but every one was poured generously and cheerfully by some knowledgeable employees. And I don’t know who made the breadsticks for the food contest, but I sure ate one of those in an un-​ladylike manner.
Those of us who stayed until events end got to hear a great little speech by the owner (which further cemented how great this business in) and try an extra-​special-​fancy wine. So awesome!

An Italian Elite Event– My very first Elite event and a wonderful one at that!
Located at Wine World, one could have never guessed what an amazing venue this is. The meeting room had a wonderful décor and ambiance to it. The added touch of live music was perfect for the Italian theme.
Free wine and as much of it as you wanted, that in and of itself is a wonderful treat! Throw in great food, good company and wonderful hosts and you have one amazing event thanks the Katy and Seattle Unilocal!
Loved the small nature of the event, great way to get to know others and look forward to Spring Break in VEGAS!!!
Thanks everyone for making this a memorable first Unilocal event!

This was my second Elite Event since migrating up to Seattle. I had a lovely time and was happy that it was a small, friendly crowd. I think the attendees as well as the business appreciate it. Less chaos and quality connections are made — a better all around experience.
I left with a bottle of bubbly and oddly enough Chimay, neither were products they were actually pouring. However, I learned that there are tastings every night from 6 to 8pm including a weekend event in which they’ll be having dog food tastings for our four legged friends.
A business after my own heart, clearly.

My first ever Unilocal event was at Wine World last year, and I was excited to check it out again. The wines were all delicious, and I was glad to see 3 different bars set up, so there wasn’t a huge wait to get tastings. I tried a couple different of the red wines, and they were all delicious, especially the Chianti. I loved the Italian theme, with bocce ball and the musicians. Everyone working the event was nice, and knowledgeable. I enjoyed how small, and low-​key the event was so I got a chance to talk with lots of people and meet some new Unilocalers, as well as play some bocce ball.
We also picked up some Champagne at a great deal! They do wine tastings nightly, so I definitely plan to come back to Wine World for more yummy wine!

This was a great event!
I arrived early to ensure I got lot parking, and was treated to their daily free tastings in the store first. Some seriously yummy stuff out there with the winery rep doing the pour and able to really explain and pump the local winery. bonus free drinking!
This was definitely a great mix of what I love most about Unilocal.A few general regulars that I love (and often strong-​arm into coming with my secret secretary skillz), a blast from the past with Alli D coming out! (haven’t seen her in YEARS) some new folks to meet and greet and a bit of everyone and everything in between.
The staff was awesome, the wines were fantastic, the treats and food brought by Unilocalers was all yummy, Julie’s cookies were definitely my favorite, though. And, she won! So I was right! :D
Loved the strolling minstrels, too!
Katy does a great job mixing it up in attendance, size of events, locations and after attending a few really big events recently, this one was the right mix of people, space and laid back fun for a Tuesday evening with Unilocal

Not to mention the great venue, my favorite and only place I buy wines due to the huge selection. My favorites are the Malbecs from Argentina and the huge selection of great Washington wines.

I love wine, I love Wine World, so of course I loved this event!

It’s good to be elite. This was an awesome event! From the moment I walked in the door, I knew it was going to be fun, casual and winey! Now, I’m not a drinker, but I loved the opportunity to try a bunch of wines I would normally scoff at. The best part about the whole evening, was that even though I am a wine rookie, most of the staff members were very patient with my naïveté. I mean, they even showed me how to swirl my glass!
Now, even though the wine was a very important part of the evening, there were a lot of great things going on in this event. There were two strolling Mistrals who played some really great music, including The Godfather Theme. In addition, there was a bocce ball court, and some tasty treats made by our fellow Elite! My personal favorite was Gorman’s angel hair pasta — it was YUMMEH for my Tummeh! But, the amaretto cookies were beautiful, as well. In addition, there were some wonderful cheese and crackers and an amazing. Oh yes, and I cannot forget to mention the AMAZING sundried tomato and cheese spread. I can say my fellow Eliters have some talent and are just amazing and friendly people.
The event was mellow, fun and casual, and a great way to unwind after a crazy hectic day. I can’t wait to attend more events and get a chance to meet more amazing people. Katy, you done made us proud again. Thanks for an amazing night!

World Wine Warehouse is a great place to have wine tasting. Unilocal had the whole back room for the event. The set up was great. Three different wine bars set up around the room and two tables full of food from Unilocal fellows.
I really enjoyed meeting new friends and catching up with the old ones. GREAT EVENT!
Congratulations to Julie G for winning the cooking contest. My buddy, Gorman also made great dish. Olivia made a killer roasted tomato! :-)

I LOVE Wine and I LOVE Wine World so this Unilocal Elite Event was perfect for me.
Thanks Katy, Nate (intern), Dave and staff of Wine World for another fantastic event here. Everytime I am here, I learn more new things, drink tasty reds, and bring home more wine for my collection.
Here is my review for Wine World:
A wonderful theme of Italian Affair. I was able to participate by bringing Angel Hair Pomodora — (made with fresh herbs, tomatoes, Extra Virgin Olive Oil and topped with a creamy Fresh Mozzarella). I also brought garlic bread sticks. It help feed a lot of Unilocalers. Others brought fruit, cheese, bacon figs, and cookies. Julia won the bake off… congrats to her! My friend, Olivia made this amazing roasted tomato spread and a cookie for my daughter. She is so awesome!
Generous pours from three bar sections all Italian Wine some locally and some from Italy. I stuck with the reds which I love… some went well with cheese and others I think best pair with a steak or pasta.
I was able to meet new and old Unilocal friends, perfect low key and intimate atmosphere to enjoy the tasty wines and conversations. The live music was a plus and they play the Godfather theme song. lol They have parking which is awesome. The space is perfect for parties.
They had this giant shuffle game called bocce ball? It look like miniature bowling balls if you like to play with balls… it look fun if that is your thing.
Even though they ran out of Sledgehammers, I bought a few Kiona Cabernet Merlot 2009 to take home with me to pair with some steaks in my fridge. It was already a deal but they also gave us 10% off! Yippee!
I will be back for more Sledgehammers! Thanks for another wonderful YEE!

Katy you did it again! I love wine and this was a great event. I sampled some fantastic wines and had a jolly good time! So low key but warm and fuzzy. I dig it!
Sure the big events are fab, but these intimate ones have their charm too! Love it!
