Bamboo was discovered by my friend. She exclaimed that the mussels reminded her of eating savory mussels in France. I have never liked the flavor of mussels. However, after eating mussels at Bamboo – I am sold! We have been back numerous times all summer. We haven’t tried anything else. We give the mussels 5 stars. However, I agree with one of the reviews that it needs some TLC. I don’t understand why they don’t have umbrella’s. Also, they need to hire additional waitresses during the summer and peak hours. One of the waitresses seemed overwhelmed. We will continue to frequent Bamboo for the mussels. And, go to our other favorite Alki restaurants for those other special dishes.

Had our monthly sibling breakfast here this morning, if not for the parking situation, I would’ve gave 5 stars, but … Great place, great staff, awesome breakfast … If you are one of those rush rush types, go to Mcd’s if you want to relax and enjoy the scenery? This is your spot !!!

Mid day drinking and Bar food yes. If you want anything else on the menu its not worth over cooked steak and I am pretty sure the salmon is frozen not fresh. My partner order medium and got a burnt over cooked steak which was sent back. we were compensated for the burnt over cooked steak. It was disappounting.

Service was horrible!!! We waited at the table with no greeting for 20 minutes. The servers saw us and didn’t even say hi. I’ve been here twice and both times weren’t good!

Went here today really hungry and excited to try some of their food and sit on the patio. When my wife and I walked in we were greeted and took menus to sit on the patio. After 15 minutes of no acknowledgement I went to use the bathroom and the staff was joking around with people at the bar. After 20 minutes we just decided to leave with not even a hello. Food might be good but I will never know, service is obviously junk.

I keep coming to the Bamboo because I live just a block away, and I keep hoping things will get better. They have so much potential but fall sadly short. The outside dining area desperately needs some TLC. Look around at the overflowing restaurants nearby — they all have windows that open wide to bring in the breeze and beautiful outdoors. The Bamboo has large, fixed windows with flies aplenty. And what happened to shade? There used to be an awning that was seldom used, and umbrellas. Now there is no shade offering at all. I love the sun but nobody wants to swelter in it while trying to enjoy a meal! Again, look around. Other restaurants have umbrellas for a good reason. Dear Bamboo, invest a few dollars in your outdoor seating and some windows that open. Maybe my companion and I won’t be the only ones in the restaurant while other establishments have a waiting list? On this visit I had the beef taco salad. Their taco salad has always been one of my favorites. They recently changed it a bit, adding some kind of a sweet sauce. The sweet flavor isn’t bad, but there is just too much of it. By the time you mix in the dollup of sour cream and guacamole, it’s swimming in sauce. I mentioned this to our waiter, who is also the bartender, and he was very responsive. I suggested they serve about ¼ of the sauce, just enough for flavor. …or serve it on the side. Overall the food isn’t bad, but the place just has an old, outdated atmosphere. Clean the dirty outdoor furniture, make the place inviting with some shade and open-air dining, spiff up the service(since there were less than 10 customers, why did we have to wait for service?) and you could once again become a popular venue.

Great food, it was a hot day yesterday so it was not ideal sitting inside as the ceiling fans didn’t do much. The menus we were given were also dirty and the service was a little slow. Other than that, we love bamboo, the food is tasty but the place could use some updating if they want to compete with the other places down the strip.

I’ve been going to Bamboo for years and I love everything about the place. It’s not the best looking bar but it has an amazing location. The staff is always nice to both locals and new customers. It’s a fun place to go hang out after a run on alki or watch a game. The have an amazing happy hour menu! Don’t get confused by the items on it because they are somewhat overpriced during regular hours. We went there after walking around the beach and ordered two drinks and an order of onion rings which was more expensive than both of our drinks together. Lesson learned. Aside from overpriced bar food outside of happy hour… the place is fun and worth checking on.

Used to be a good place. The beef on my skewers was chewy like jerky. The cesar salad was obviously cheap dressing. The coconut shrimp was good. Service was poor. Place was over staffed, a lot of people standing around and still bad service. Just talked with the staff and apparently there is some changes coming worth coming back for. Here’s hoping.

What’s not to like? Bamboo is a local favorite known for its casual flavor! Not necessarily the place to plan a Valentines date night but a great place to meet friends for a couple drinks and bar food! I read some of the awful reviews and couldn’t help think that the reviewers were looking for Canlis and were just lost! It is a bar folks. Nachos, burgers, ribs… You get it! If you are lucky, you may get Sarah with the big glasses as your server! I swear this gal always has a smile. Best server on Alki! If you just want to relax and shoot the bull then visit Bamboo!

If you are not a regular you will not get service here! We have been in twice. Both were unpleasant. The first time. We sat right at the bar. There were maybe 4 other people there(also all at the bar). It took us about 5 mins to get drinks. there were two bar tenders available. After getting our drinks and food order in all was smooth. And, the food was good! The second time we went in with two friends. It was pretty empty. Three bartender, maybe 15 people there? We sat at a table. But, figured that no one was coming around because it was later(11pm). So, went up to the large open space at the bar. Still no service. So we ALL moved to the bar. All three bartenders walked by us at least 5 times. One even took the bill from the previous people sitting in our spots and cashed out the man next you all. We all had ID’s and cash in hand ready to order. We spent 15 mins trying to order a drink. Just before we got up to leave a group of people came in that they knew by name. All three bartenders went to the door to greet them and started their drinks. Needless to say we left! Overall, the bartenders are very rude and have horrible service! They are NOT friendly, the place in not welcoming at all! Unfortunately for us, we live less than a block away! If you are on Alki CHOOSEANYWHEREBUTHEREBECAUSEYOUWONTGETSERVICEANYWAYS!!!

We went on a Sunday with a big group and had a great experience. The waiter was awesome. The drinks were always flowin’, he took special requests, made suggestions, kept orders/checks separate if needed & was just fun to be around. I had a very nice experience.

We have never left here feeling good about anything we’d eaten. Most times, we just end up feeling queasy. Super greasy bar-type food that’s usually undercooked or severely overcooked. Expensive drinks for what you get. Not high quality at all, and your choices seems to be beer or fruity cocktails with very little alcohol. Staff is very clique-ish. We went once for lunch and the bar area was full of a couple regulars and staff just sitting and gabbing about the night before. Our dining there felt like a huge inconvenience to them, which is probably why it took over 20 minutes to get our mediocre food. So, we tried it once and hated it. Gave it another shot and still hated it. Go anywhere else on Alki for a meal.

Solid HH food specials, $ 1 off well drinks and beers on tap. The location is certainly a draw for this bar, and since it’s close to home it’s a favorite for my roomies. During the summer and weekend this place can get slammed, but today it was slow. Pours are good and the HH I and my room mate shared came out quickly, and the bartender was good at making sure we had what we needed. The real amusing bit was seeing the beta fish kept in the giant Patron bottle. According to the bartender, someone had brought it in and left it on the counter in a drunken haze, so they adopted the little dude.

Located on Alki Beach across the West Seattle Bridge. Interesting little set up. I guess they have DJd music after a certain time. Place was pretty busy as it was a nice day. They have a small outdoor seating area located in front of the restaurant. I had the avocado salmon sandwich… the avocados were hard as rocks… when i brought it to the waitresses attention… she was just like«oh really»… Guess theyre more interested in looking cute, rather than serving good eats or providing good service… since that sucks too. They take forever to do anything, and cant even deliver back correct change. The friends I went with were not too impressed with their extra crunchy burger, or flavorless ribs. Nice view… but way too many other restaurants to choose from with the same view, if not better… and of course, I’m sure, better food.

The drinks are okay if you can survive the smell when you walk in, it’s a serious battle between the stink of stale booze and bleach. I have to admit I’ve never eaten here. I generally leave as soon as I can. The servers are nice, that’s the only thing that makes it go from one to two stars.

I love this place!. why such poor reviews ?): I used to go here every Friday w my boyfriend after early classes and I’m not a sandwich lover, but this place makes them to where I want a sandwich. Their avocados and just how nicely put the platter was, just made it appetizing. I’ve literally tried 4 out of however many sandwiches they have on their menu. All were amazing. Aside frm sandwiches… One of my favorites until now is the chicken cordon bleu. SO good. Smothered in the sauce they have and everything tasted fresh. Also, I think it was this stuffed salmon w crab or something on it, I don’t recall, but they served it on a plank and supposedly it brings out the flavor in the fish… and yes it rly did haha. Everything on the menu is so good, you really can’t go wrong here. Perfect place on Alki. Service was always great at every visit we took and it’s super mellow in here during lunch hours. Dinner hours are fine, not so much noise to the point where it can bother a person. Tables and everyone are pretty good spaced out. I’d recommend going here to anyone who wants to walk out satisfied with price, food, and service.

Please note my review is strictly based on the bar & happy hour not the restaurant portion. I have been here for HH numerous times. I have always left filled with Bahamaritas and Coconut Shrimp. My fav duo! The flat bread pizza is pretty amazing as well. They have complementary valet and usually a spot or two up for grabs in the one of the two bars. The service is also prompt initially but tapers off as the evening goes along.(Lost one star) I am not a fan of the overly drunk patrons served one to many margaritas and cackling like hyenas while I am trying to host a business meeting or defusing from a long a work day.(Lost another star) Overall not a bad spot if you get in right when HH starts(3:00pm) and leave within about an hour & half before the liquor kicks in. Another please note: If this was strictly a bar the drunken hyenas and the withering service wouldn’t bother me. Bahama Breeze, unfortunately is a combo restaurant & bar so my expectations are a bit higher.

I would like to say that I recommend coming to Bamboo ONLY for Happy Hour. and even then, there are better choices. But it’s a nice place to sit outside when the weather’s nice. That’s the only reason to come oh and their happy hour drinks are $ 5 – 7 Here is my review for happy hour only: Their prices are decent. I enjoy the crab dip and calamari. Food and drinks range from $ 5 – 7 dollars That being said, there isn’t any non-fried food on the HH menu. I enjoyed one or 2 lemon drops off the happy hour menu. I tried to visit during non-happy hour times and everything costs over 9 dollars, including drinks. I’m not willing to spend that much when I don’t even know if the food will be good. Based on other reviews, I think not. I do however, like the fish tanks, that’s unusual.

After a long walk from the water taxi port to Alki Beach, my friend and I decided to grab a light snack and a couple drinks here since the weather was so nice. Even though there was HH, we decided to forego the reduced prices and enjoy the patio area. At the suggestion of the waitress, my friend ordered a nice IPA and the calamari, while I went with a refreshing Corona and the seared ahi tuna(that supposedly had just come in). The drinks were solid and my ahi tuna was pretty good. My friend’s calamari was just okay. A nice patio area and good service.
