Mac and cheese tasted like instant Mac from the microwave. Crab pasta was super bland too. Drinks were good. Waitstaff could be more engaged, passed our waiter on the way out on his phone… Didn’t even look up

This place is underrated. The food was great. Much better than i expected after reading some reviews. I came for dinner and trivia. MONDAY night TRIVIA. Very well done with very friendly wait staff, overall it made for such a easy and fun night. I got the hot blue burger which uses hot wing sauce and blue cheese, it was great. The fries were fried and unhealthy, just the way you want them. Even got a little dessert which was small but tasty. If you’re looking for a welcoming place to play trivia or just grab a bite, its not incredibly cheap(around 13 $/burger) but it is a good time.

First time to Blue Star Café — and I plan to inhabit again ! Had the Greek salad w/chicken, feta cheese and veggies. Dressing was tasteless. Asked for a side of blue cheese dressing — I’m happy. My guest had the black bean burger and onion rings — I tried a portion of her order. i ‘ve tried a few of these veggie burgers over time and i would rate this one one of the better ones. Service was good. We came in for a late lunch at 330 pm so I have no idea what it’s like at dinner.

Food is a little pricey. But Alyssa was a great hostess. She was prompt with our orders. Kept us happy water wise. And she was polite and professional. The food was also good. We ordered the prim rib dip and the club. The cesar salad was good. The truffle fries with the parmesan garlic aoli, even better. But then again fries… are greater than salads.

I used to love this place but it has really gone down hill. They really need to hire some more qualified cooks. All of our food was really bland ordered a medium cooked burger and got s really well down bland under seasoned burger. And we also ordered fish and chips and the fish was all undercooked and the batter or breading on the fish was all falling off and greasy and not crunchy at all it was nasty. I want to like this place cause I live only blocks away but definitely will go spend my money somewhere else. Shit Walgreens across the street has better pre made sandwiches that are better than this crap and for a lot less money.

Amazing food and a huge selection! We had the breakfast option and no one was unsatisfied. Eggs were great, chicken fried steak was wholehearted fulfilling and large. Prices were a bit steeper, but since your probably gonna get a doggy bag with the pots size, I’d say your paying for 2 meals. Hobo eggs were great. Service was wonderful as well. Host filled my water bottle up. Thanks for that. Super cute location in Fremont and very cute restaurant.

Yum yum yum! Went for mother’s day, not too busy but it was hopping. Super victory omelet and berry Norwegian pancakes were great.

Finally, a place we can call home! Went to Blue Star Café & Pub Monday for breakfast and the service was quick and friendly. I ordered the Hobo Eggs and I was only able to eat half, the portions are so huge. My husband got the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs, he was so shocked at how good everything was. We’ve been looking for a new breakfast place to visit and with the homemade goodness I think we found it. Now we just need to go on the weekend and see how long the wait is.

Sometimes mistakes can be good! Had lunch today at the Blue Star — first time here. My first reaction was it was clean and attractive. Felt comfortable walking into this place. I love a Reuben sandwich and when I saw it on the menu, I had to order it. When it arrived, with a huge pile of sweet potato fries, the server said that they must have forgot to put the Thousand Island dressing on the sandwich because they gave me side serving of dressing. No problem, this lets me put the perfect amount of dressing on the sandwich. In this case, they had thick sliced corned beef and just enough sauerkraut so by my adding my own dressing, it made for a great sandwich. And the seasoning on the fries was excellent as well. My lunch partner ordered one of the scrambles(I don’t remember the name) and she loved it. Had enough left over for a full meal in the future. I wish I lived closer to the Blue Star. I would become a regular.

My group of friends ate brunch here last weekend. We were optimistic when we saw the big queue of people waiting. Must be good, right? Nope. Seating was extremely slow. Food was bland. Everything was overpriced. We won’t be back.

Whatever wait time they give you, multiply it by 3−4x. We went for brunch and the hot chocolate was mostly warm water and the meals were potatoes with a side of whatever you ordered. I had a scramble and my friend had an omelette and we were both underwhelmed. My scramble had no more than two eggs in it, a good amount of bacon, way too much sour cream and cheese on top. Unfortunately the meal wasn’t warm enough to melt the cheese, so I swept it to the side with the sour cream.

Overpriced. We ordered a plain cheeseburger and fries, and a breakfast burrito(eggs and cheese only) with potatoes. a side of toast. And water. $ 30. Nothing about this meal was extraordinary. It was just, okay. The only reason we even came here is because it was across the street from an appointment, and we had an hour to kill. I wish my kid liked pizza, I would have chosen one of those places instead. Disappointed.

A few years ago I visited Blue Star and it was fairly decent. Now, it’s just outright bad. I’ve eaten here 2 times these past 3 weeks and these are my reviews… I’m not going again. Both times the service was horribly slow. The first time we waited at least 10 minutes to get water & only ever got it because we called over the hostess and told her we hadn’t been served. She seemed really confused about how to even remedy this, but eventually I suggested to her that she call over the server. She said she would«try.» That morning I ordered the tofu scramble & it was BAD. It was«shredded tofu,» a side of potatoes, & toast. They didn’t use any seasoning on the tofu, except turmeric for coloring. They apparently also don’t know how to cook Field Roast breakfast sausage links because they seemed to be just pulled out of the package & added to the lukewarm shredded tofu. No browning or warmth & mushy. It was a total disservice to the Field Roast brand(I eat it at home so know how it tastes). I also almost mistook the shredded tofu for Daiya, but they said it wasn’t. After this visit I swore I wasn’t going to visit again, but then my boyfriend reminded me of our expiring Groupon… Tonight I ordered the Popcorn tofu appetizer and a burger with the Field Roast patty. The«popcorn» tofu came out in large cubes. Decent flavor but it was not how I had it years ago, when it was actually like«popcorn» pieces. Secondly my Field Roast patty didn’t have the avocado as described in the menu. They brought out guacamole instead, as a replacement. Third, and by far the worst offense, the Field Roast burger patty was horribly over done & rock hard, for the most part. Maybe it was freezer burnt? At least 50% was really hard and dried out. For anyone who has ever eaten a Field Roast patty you know it’s really oily & fatty, so how it came to this state of being is beyond me. They must have tried really, really hard to ruin it. During this 2nd visit the only saving grace was our sweet server, Elliot. It wasn’t his fault that the food was wrong or poorly cooked & he was very apologetic and took note of it to the kitchen staff. Still, I’m not going back.

Blue Star used to be a go-to for us when we lived in the Wallingford area, and it’s still a standard when we are in this part of the city and looking for something comfortable. The place is like a well-worn hoodie: It has seen better days, and you wouldn’t necessarily wear it out on the town, but when you’re sick and just want to be cozy, it’s what you reach for. Burgers, sandwiches, and salads are done with reasonable(if not revolutionary) skill, service is adequate, and the atmosphere is old school Seattle to a «T». The bar is a popular place for trivia on Mondays, and serves a decent selection of local and national microbrews. Ambiance in the bar area is a little lacking for me(a little too brightly lit for dirty deeds), but otherwise a decent enough spot to throw back a couple of beers. My go-to food choice here is a monstrosity called, appropriately, the«Kitchen Sink»: Basically a tuna melt gone awry, its topped with all sorts of stuff that shouldn’t work but somehow does. They also do a very decent hummus plate, which I’ve occasionally ordered as an entrée. On our most recent visit, based on a server recommendation, I had the lamb burger. Not the best I’ve ever had, but also definitively not the worst. My wife had a bacon and onion burger, which she ordered well done(yes, she is one of those people). When it arrived, it was medium. Perfect for me, but basically inedible for her. Our server apologized profusely for the error, had a new burger to her in a matter of minutes, and we were not charged for her meal. Bonus points.

Usually love this place & came in today for New Years at 10:20AM. Put our name in(party of 3, 2 friends from out of town who I wanted to take to brunch!) & the host said it would be 7 minutes. Sweeeeet! We were standing next to the host stand for 30 minutes as we watched the host seat parties of 4s &5s ahead of us. It was definitely getting crowded, as to be expected from the holiday which is fine — we get it. My friend went up & kindly asked where we were on the list(literally verbatim, «Excuse me, do you happen to know where our party of 3 under Sean is at?») & my friend saw our name was the only one not crossed off &7 different parties were sat AFTER our name on the list. The host did nothing — she said, «Oh…we only have a table for 2 that we can possibly fit 3 at?» And my friend said that was fine since we had been waiting. We then waited about 15 minutes more & heard nothing. We saw a table for four get up, get cleaned & she sat ANOTHER party that just walked in after us there with no reservation. My friends were leaving town & had to get to Portland too — not too time sensitive but still something to be cognizant of on our end which is fine — have a good meal & then head out. We ended up walking up to the host stand again & asking her why she sat a walk in party of 4 with no reservation when we had been waiting for obviously more than 7 minutes. She didn’t have an answer, yet again. She said, «Oh, we just gave your table away.» And we asked why. She said, «I called your name…» You definitely, definitely did not. We were waiting with baited breath to get some brunch! She offered no solution so we ended up leaving. Thoroughly pissed at how it was handled. Going to give them a call later today if not tomorrow to explain what happened there. All 3 of us have been in the restaurant industry for 10+ years too so this is not your typical Unilocal review in which someone bitches about something not in the restaurants control. Every time I have came here it’s been excellent though! The servers are lovely & food & drinks are so delicious. But I’m bombing it with a 1 star strategically because of this particular host.

This has been and continues to be my favorite breakfast spot. I love that they have vegan options available on the breakfast menu, so few places in the area accommodate to my breakfast needs. I love the shredded tofu and I have never seen this anywhere else, and I have a lot of tofu in my life. They now use Chao cheese and other field roast products which contributes to a nice local feeling, although sometimes I do prefer daiya. You can customize any egg dish to a vegan dish with the shredded tofu for a slight upgrade. The bloody marys are delicious and the have a huge beer list. It can get crowded her on a weekend morning, but if you are not too picky about a table you can always sit at the bar. The tvs are usually on to keep you entertained, or you can pick up a copy of the stranger outside to read while you eat. My omnivore boyfriend loves to eat here, since its one of the few places were he can eat meat and I can eat vegan with neither of us feeling like we are making a sacrifice for the other. Sometimes we come for other meals as well, but breakfast is my favorite.

This probably one of the more popular places in Seattle for Brunch. And rightly so. everything(almost) was delicious! I went with my friend for her birthday. We arrived at about 11:30 on Sunday, 11⁄8. Had to wait about 30 minutes, but we didn’t mind/we expected a wait. We ordered 3 things to split: 1. Portobello Scramble(one of the specials). YUM! It was made with caramelized onions, roasted red peppers, spinach and goat cheese. Also with a side of toast and potatoes. Each table has a container of homemade raspberry jam — it was fabulous! 2. Cinnamon Roll. Yeah this wasn’t that great in my opinion. The cinnamon roll was dry, didn’t have enough cinnamon filling, and the cream cheese frosting tasted off… 3. Side of bacon. Thick and crispy, what more can you ask for? Overall this was a great place to share breakfast with a friend. Be prepared to wait, but the food makes it worth it.

I absolutely hate it when a place I really want to like — just doesn’t do it. In this case, I know these folks have good potential, but I think it was just a bad experience. The problem wasn’t with the food — it was pretty good to me. Sunday brunch, I had the French toast, and it was decent — although one of my other guests had a special which wasn’t especially special to him(but that’s a personal taste thing, your mileage may vary). No, I think the issue was with the service, or a lack of. It simply felt as if the server that holds everything together must have called in for the day. Everyone was swamped, and it showed by long waits and rushed service when we were waited on. Again, not specifically anyone’s fault, but it just felt like we were an afterthought — and«ignored» is quite possibly the worst feeling anybody should have at a restaurant. I’ll give it another try. I’d definitely like to see these folks knock my proverbial socks off.

This place has been on my «when in Seattle, eat here» list for well over 4 years and I can happily say I still come back :) such a great bar/brunch/dinner spot my favorite time is brunch so Blue Star is a must when in SEA. the set up:] think old dinner with an expanded menu, wooden tables and booths, window seating and I believe 3 mounted TV for some game viewing and eating days. brunch:] I always set myself up with a hearty egg dish while here. last visit I had the Dungenous Crab Benedict and it was great. The crab was not Krab(thank gawd) it was the real deal but my eggs were over cooked, the yokes did not leak(sad face) instead they retained their shape like a hard boiled egg, the centers were cooked to a creamy form, not the way eggs benedict should be. The hollendase sause wasn’t as lemony as I liked, I think my dish was victim of sitting under the heat lamps too long. whomp waa. The bloody Mary was cheap and hearty, my kinda deal :) the pickled veggies and slice of pepper jack cheese are the perfect addition to the bloody mary. skip the bacon waffle –My husband ordered this and we were both really sad. For nearly 8 dollers it was not fluffy, very borning, and it was just one serving of waffle, thankfully we added some eegs on the side to give ourselves a little more balance for the start of our day. Scrambles & Potatoes are the best options at BSC, I have had luck with every eggcentric dish here Other stuff:] the staff are super friendly, the nearby street parking is nice, and the location is fantastic –just far enough of away from the busy city but only 8 minutes from the center of it all.
