Bob’s Appliance Service

Bob really is the best. I’ve used him three times for our various machines and problems, and all with fantastic results. He is timely, professional, courteous, KNOWLEDGEABLE, and (best of all) reasonably priced. He knows his stuff on all kinds of machines, and you tell him ahead of time about the machine so he can confirm to you whether it’s a type/​brand that he services.
He’s a one man show, but he comes in a marked van, dressed professionally, and as soon as he shimmies into position behind/​next to/​under your machine, you know a pro is in the house. He’s helped us out so many times that last time he was here he showed me pictures of his granddaughter and feels like a part of our family.
Bob’s wife has been ill and he’s the sole wage-​earner who has been taking care of her for years. He too, has been suffering medical issues lately, and has not always been available. Sadly for us, that meant we had to use someone else (Seattle Metro Appliance Repair) and it was a colossal disaster.
I miss you, Bob, very very much, and I hope all is well very soon.

Bob just left and I had to come right on here to say good things about him. He got right back to me when I called, double checked model numbers, etc. before he came so he could have the right parts and communicated with me thoroughly before arriving.
He got right to work, fixed the washer quickly and was super nice too. Also the cost was very reasonable. I will call him again the next time I need appliance repair, without a doubt.
To respond to other reviews, my washer was a Whirlpool and he didn’t say a word about it (the person who said he wouldn’t work on a Whirlpool). Also, for the person trying to reach him, he said his wife had been very ill and he was leaving to take her to the doctor, so that’s probably the medical issues you were hearing about.

Bob came by and fixed my freezer like it was nothing. The seal wasn’t closing all the way and I was guessing it was going to have to be ripped out and replaced. Bob asked for an iron and fixed it in 10 minutes. Saved me tons of time and money.

hmmm… I’ve liked reading the reviews of the reputation of Bob, but I have been trying to reach since March 2012 and the voice mail msg. relates to a medical emergency and is on going now til «mid July»… I hope all is okay.
I just left voice mail to get a reference for a referral for someone else that he might know that is reputable to fix a 10 + year old Maytag stackable washer/​dryer.

BOB ROCKS! I am not a big blogger but you have to know about this guy. He diagnosed my washer problem over the phone and told me how to fix it myself. FOR FREE!!! I will call him again.

Our washing machine’s agitator was not moving during the cycle, so the clothes were not actually getting clean. When you have a 3.5-yr old son who spends much of the day in the dirt, this is a big problem.
I called Bob and left a message at 8:10 AM Monday morning. He called back at 8:20 and said he would come today, and called back at 8:45 with a more precise time frame of 10 AM to 12 pm. He arrived at 10:15, quickly diagnosed the problem (worn dogs,) and fixed it, for a total of $ 101.58. (My dad thought it would cost me around $ 200.) He was gone by 11:00 am. He was extremely professional, and even cracked up at my charming, very chatty son. He cracked ME up as well:

BOB: I *know* what it’s going to do, I just want *you* to see it.

If you need an appliance repaired, you MUST call Bob’s Appliance Service. Our dryer has been working terribly for a week now. I called Bob’s yesterday, left a message, and he called me back a few hours later to let me know he could take a look at the dryer today and would call me between 7:30 and 8:00am to confirm a time. He gave me call this morning as he said he would, and showed up on time.
Once he arrived, he diagnosed the problem, made the repair, and now our dryer sounds good as new. He really is as nice and professional as other reviewers have written.
It can be difficult to decide what repair service to call when you have no idea how an appliance might work. I made several calls to repair services yesterday — one sounded really shady, one blew me off and told me I should buy a new dryer, one never called me back, and then there was Bob! Don’t waste your time making those other calls. Just call Bob’s!

Bob was great! I needed to hook up my fancy dryer when we moved into a new-​to-​us-​but-​very-​old house and I had no idea how to go about it. He came over and took care of it in a jiffy, charging us $ 68 and cleaning up after himself.
I only gave 4 stars because unless I called his cell directly, the general telephone number for his business never yielded calls back (I tried three times). Otherwise, our experience was top notch and I would call Bob again if we had w/​d trouble.

Long story short, I spent the ENTIRE day yesterday waiting for the Sears repair man to show up at my door step, diagnose the problem and tell me that he was going to have to charge me more than double what the estimate I got over the phone was… at that point I just wanted my dryer fixed so I told him that was fine and to fix it… problem number two with Sears… they told me that the parts were 7 – 10 business days out.
I then called Bob… he said he could have somebody come out next day and fix my dryer between 1:00 and 3:00pm. Bob arrived on time, fixed my dryer (as I was talking his ear off about football) and charged me $ 155 LESS THAN THE SEARS REPAIR MAN!!! At the end of the project (As Kelli C points out) ran out to his van got a broom and cleaned up after himself.

We love love love Bob at our house. He came out a few years ago to fix our dryer. Fixed for $ 90 bucks AND HE CLEANED UP AFTER HIMSELF!
He came out today to fix the washer. $ 112 bucks later all is well. Arrived on time, wassuper nice and above all, efficient.
Can’t recommend him enough.

Approx one month ago our washer would not spin and started leaking. Despite some of the mixed reviews posted on this list, I went ahead and decided to try Bob’s anyway since he is local to the neighborhood (Mt. Baker) and I wanted to support a local business. Initially Bob seemed personable enough, although initially connecting with him and scheduling an appointment was difficult. He made a repair on a stack/​washer dryer. After ordering the parts, he replaced the clutch two days later and charged $ 375. After 36 days and being used 3 times the washer stopped spinning and experienced the same problem. When I asked Bob to return to re-​check his repair he stated that he
would charge additional fees to check his work. He refused to waive any fees or even look at the machine without a charge saying that his warranty is only 30 days. Seeing that the machine had the same symptoms as before I thought this was unreasonable and I expected the repairs to last longer than 36 days and 3 uses.
We decided that its not worth investing any further dollars into this
machine and will replace it instead. But I would not recommend that anyone use Bob’s Appliance Service.

Called on 10÷29÷09 to schedule a service call for my Frigidaire dishwasher and spoke with Greg. Seemed normal enough. We exchanged all the information and set the appointment. The next thing that happened was, well, NOTHING. As of the date of this review, they never showed, never called. I’ve called Sears applicance repair. What’s up with that?

Unfortunately, I can’t echo the other reviews here. I called Bob’s on a Wednesday morning and told the woman I spoke to that I was having a problem with my Maytag front-​load clothes washer. I was told that Bob would call me early the next day.
Bob called the next day and informed me that he «doesn’t do Maytag appliances,» that «Maytag was out of business,» and that I should try someone else who repairs Whirlpool. I found all of this very annoying because they could have told me this the previous day and I wouldn’t have lost yet another day without a washer, which was already full of wet clothes.
Do NOT CALL BOB if you have a MAYTAG/​WHIRLPOOL appliance. He «doesn’t do them.»

Great service. Showed up within 24 hours of calling. Arrived within the time slot he gave me. Fixed my problem with a dryer within 30min. Professional, fast, clean and prompt. I would call Bob again and certainly recommend him.

Don’t use my diswasher everyday or every week, but when I went to use last it was dead. Searched Unilocal for a repairman and found Bob and all the good reviews he’s received. Called Bob, he was to my house in two days, diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, came back in a couple of days as promised and it works like new. Bob is an ultimate professional, knowledgeable and best of all just a nice guy. He called when he said he would and arrived in the timeframe he promised.

Okay, Bob’s van hasn’t even pulled away from my curb yet, and I’m jumping up and down to Unilocal about him.
My washing machine went all funny over the weekend and so I found Bob on Unilocal.I called late in the day on Monday and talked to a guy who said Bob would be out the next day and would call around 7:30 am to give me a time frame. Bob called at 7:30 and gave me a 2 hour window. He arrived in that time, went straight to work, fixed the problem first try, and didn’t tease me too bad about the fact that it was a bra insert (those little cutlet things) from my bathing suit that had clogged the line.
Bob is super friendly and great at his job. These days I take issue with people who complain about having to do their jobs. Like plumbers that don’t want to get down on their knees to get under your sink. You won’t get any of that from Bob. He’s a great guy who does a good job and is happy to do it.

5 stars for a class act:
We had our combo washer/​dryer unit for approx 1 ½ yrs now and the dryer took a turn for the worse recently which ticked me off being that it was relatively new. When we turned the dryer on it sounded like the Blue Angels were taking their practice runs for Sea-​fair weekend… in our house! The dryer guru that I am thought it was the bearings (Is this such a thing???) of the dryer drum getting off kilter.
So I posted a request for referrals for repair companies on a neighborhood site and I received 3 recommendations: All were Bob’s Appliance Service. Well shit I thought… this Bob guy must be popular I reckon I need to give this cat a call. I’m glad we did!
We called on Tuesday and Bob came the next morning. Immediately I fell for this man. He was pleasant and warm and made some funny comments about the mad house that he walked into as we had some family visiting with a bunch of kids running around. I took him upstairs and noticed a noticeable limp. He says his truck fell on him! Ouch!
Bob opens the dryer spins the drum a ¾ turn and in less than 30 seconds figures out that it’s our blower vent that went kaput. The blower came loose and the drum was grinding against it.
Watching from behind I see him lean against the unit, bow his head and hear him exhale through his nose… and I’m thinking… ‘prayer time?’ Interesting! I was about to clasp my hands, drop my head and whisper «Dear Father…» It was Wednesday after all. Bob lifts his head then says it’ll cost approx $ 150-​$ 160 with parts and labor. Ah-​so… done! We were thinking much worse. He was done in less than an hour! Total came to $ 146 and some change.
He gave us some tips and suggestions on other appliances. And unfortunately does not work on gas ranges anymore because the govt wants him to buy some useless but expensive equipment to continue to service gas ranges.
Bob was great, friendly, funny, and just a nice man and his work is reasonably priced. I bet he’s got some great stories to tell and I’d love to sit down over a meal with the guy.

Wanting to avoid food poisoning, we asked a friend for a referral when our fridge was getting warm. He recommended Bob’s Appliance Service. Stephen J. called on Thursday and Bob said he could come by the following afternoon, giving us a two-​hour time window.
After we unloaded the freezer of our GE side-​by-​side, Bob took out the rear panel and had the problem diagnosed within a few minutes: a bad defrost heater. Unfortunately, Bob had been told our appliance was a Frigidaire, but he had an extra GE defrost heater in his truck, anyway. Now that’s called being prepared. Apparently, we had quite a bit of ice built up behind our freezer wall, so poor Bob spent a long time aiming his hand dryer into the back of the appliance to get the ice to melt.
Bob has been in this biz for a while. I asked him how long, and he replied, «Too long.» He’s quite funny and entertaining. Heads up, though, he doesn’t care for dogs. Since I have two big ones, I had to put them in their crates for him to be comfortable.
In the end, Bob was in our condo for about 1−½ hours, had to replace the heater, and gave us a bill totalling $ 229, an amount I felt was fair. Our fridge is now functioning normally and I’m no longer worried about getting food poisoning.

I’m giving Bob four stars rather then five because he won’t come to Edmond’s to fix my fridge.
Bob is great. He works on his own and runs his own business. Because of that, scheduling can sometimes be a problem but its worth the wait. Bob is super friendly and does a very professional job. He fixed a dish washer for me and at the same time told a bunch of jokes and a few stories. He worked fast and was very reasonable price wise.
When you call, it can be a little off putting as I think its a family run business but don’t let that fool you. Bob does a great job.
