Bookworm Exchange

I have ordered from Bookworm through Abe Books online but have not been to the store.
The items I ordered were 1) in condition that was as good or better then described, 2) reasonably priced, 3) carefully packed, and 4) promptly shipped.
For anyone that orders used vinyl, CDs and books, item No. 1 especially is something we don’t always see enough of.
Hmmm, or 2, or 3, or even 4.

I was just trolling around Columbia City, and decided to take a walk up the road when I didn’t find the used bookstore I was looking for. Turns out it’s moved up to Hillman City, right by the new cafes and chicken place. That might be just the jolt this area needs!
The owner was gracious and helpful. He didn’t have the book that I initially wanted, but knew what I was talking about and was able to recommend a bunch of things based on my taste. It’s a cute little room with a reading table and some cool plates from early textbooks, a couple of which I bought for my father.
Definitely worth the trip and one of Seattle’s best kept secrets!

A few days ago, I was looking for a book for a friend. I wanted to buy a used copy but really couldn’t wait for it to be special ordered or shipped in from some random place. I figured my only choice would be to buy a new copy from a large corporate book store (and pay the difference to get it new) because it seemed so unlikely that a small bookstore would randomly have a copy of this book on their shelves. But… I live pretty close to the Bookworm Exchange and figured, what the heck, and called them, just on the off chance they happened to have a copy. Well, as you might have guessed from my five-​star ranking, they did. Jim offered to hold it for me until the next day. It was my first time at the Bookworm Exchange when I went to pick it up. Yes, it’s small inside, but very bright, clean, and cozy… a very nice contrast from the busy-​ness of Rainier. Jim was friendly, had my book right behind the counter, and the book actually ended up costing me less at the Bookworm Exchange than it would have even would have cost me on Amazon! Sometimes «buying local» means waiting longer and paying more — but not here. If you’re on the search for a book, or just want to check out a cool little place in the neighborhood, I highly recommend stopping in! :)
