I am scheduled for an exam in a couple weeks, the prior review sort of scares me but since Sara the person whom I spoke with at his downtown Seattle office was very nice and welcoming I will go to my scheduled appointment and see for myself what experience I have. Hopefully good.

I have never been afraid of the dentist before going to see Dr. Buchanan. I had been recommended by some coworkers at the time and it was conveniently located to both my home and my office. I had been uninsured for nearly a year before seeing him and knew my teeth would reflect that neglect, but I didn’t think it would be THIS bad. Neither he or his hygenists have any empathy for anyone feeling pain. I consider myself to have a high pain tolerance, but every time I sat in his dental chair I was in so much pain that I had been brought to tears. It runs in my family to have a very high tolerance for Novocaine-we usually need twice the normal amount to feel numb. I told Dr. Buchanan this from the very beginning and even after stopping him from drilling because I was in so much pain, his response was«Well, I’m almost done. You need to tough it out.» He was completely oblivious to the tears streaming down my face. Another time, one of his hygenists hit a nerve somewhere in my mouth, sending shooting pain into every one of my teeth. I Unilocaled in surprise and pain and my eyes welled up, but she just brushed me off. I’m pretty sure they over-billed me as well. With insurance, I was paying $ 200 – 300 for a filling. Maybe I’m just inexperienced with dental billing, but to me that is way too high. The blatant unprofessionalism and disregard for their patients well-being has sent me running to find another dentist. Avoid this dental practice at all costs, unless discomfort and pain is your thing.
