Build Urban

We recently moved into a Build Urban town home in Seattle. After having lived there for 2 months we are still as pleased with the design as when we first saw the place. Very clean lines with well positioned windows. There is even enough wall space for a Seahawks sized TV. Large old grandfather and grandmother trees were saved so that when we look out the window we see green branches and pine cones instead of another wall. I believe the birds and squirrels are equally appreciative! The team has been responsive to our requests and always have a smile for us. Good move on our part.

If I could give this company negative 5 stars, I would. They are perhaps the most inconsiderate, obnoxious, buffoons to grace the construction industry. There’s a reason «spec» builders are so hated in most communities. They roll in and take over a neighborhood with utter disregard for the people who ALREADY pay to live there.
They are building a huge, multi-​home project at the end of my street on Mercer Island. So far I have almost slammed into a dump truck parked in the middle of the road on a blind corner, been trapped on my street multiple times when they have blocked it thereby missing critical appointments, been unable to get to my house when they cut across the road repeatedly without warnin, ruined the spoiler on the front of my car from bottoming out where they cut through aforementioned road and did a hack patch job, and majorly inconvenienced in more ways than can be described in this review. My only hope is that they get so upside down on the project, which has all sorts of critical slope issues causing significant delays, that they loose money.
If you see a Build Urban sign go up in your neighborhood, beware.

I grew up in construction. Whether we did commercial or residential I was taught to be polite and considerate of neighbors. Build Urban is currently constructing a townhouse in our alley in Magnolia. An alley which only has a single entrance or exit. It so happens the construction site is at the entrance. Delivery trucks have blocked egress for the residents already living here on several occasions. When asked to temporarily move the crews have been resistant and rude. The Superintendent has not returned calls. Just a few days after confronting the crew about being more neighborly and courteous my tire picked up a sheet rock screw that punctured the tire. Random chance from a dirty job site or something else? Once again, unable to reach anyone at Urban Construction to discuss.

Build Urban built my town home. I expect builders to be late — but they have yet to even START on my punch list, and I’ve been moved in for nearly 60 days. What’s on my punch list? Stairs permeated with concrete mix, two appliances that are not hooked up correctly and thus do not work, a cabinet that has been left unfinished and exposed, a sink that isn’t hooked up, and more. Not minor things. They have been unresponsive, and further more the GC has shown up at my house at 7:30 in the morning, parked outside and stared in the windows. Creepy, right?
I don’t recommend this builder.
