Building C

Building C is tucked away in the lower reaches of Ballard, on the corner of Leary and 14^th in a don’t-blink-or-you’ll-miss it warehouse space across the street from Office Max. It is one of the more venerable stops on the Second Saturday Ballard Artwalk: it’s working artist studio spaces that the artists graciously open for Artwalk and are right there to talk to folks passing through.
While most of the artists are painters, working in a wide range of styles and media, there are also very talented artists working with metals and jewelry and beads and fabrics. It’s an extremely friendly group of artists who very happily engage visitors and will also sell you something if you’re interested. And sometimes there are bottles of wine and treats, and sometimes there is a cute dog or two running around.
Possibly because it’s somewhat off the main drag of the Artwalk, there will be some times when many of the studios are closed, but it definitely picks up going into the holiday season. Please do yourself a favor and check it out sometime. The talent level here is superlative (including AJ Power and CL Utley and Michael Dickter, to name a few; as this is a series of studios, the roster has some turnover from time to time). It’s the most unique stop on the Artwalk.
