Menlo Park, CA
I was hesitant to take my 10 and six-​year-​old here after looking at the reviews, but decided to try it on a Monday at 10 AM. The little playground area about a large grassy field which is next to a nice community garden. There were a lot of seniors out today, and a couple of homeless folks who kept their distance. I recommend this place for kids at least early in the morning.

My family and I just moved in to Seattle and we think that having a park close to home would be wonderful for our daughter! What a sad mistake!
The park has a very nice structure, 2 playgrounds, sandbox and even a field to run with your dog, the problem is that it’s frequented by drug dealers and drug users. Once, a couple sat on the playground and started smoking pot, as if there were no children playing there! I tried it again, another day, and there was people drinking, using drugs and at a certain point, those people exalted themselves and had a fight.
Definitely not a good place to take a child to play with!

If you are a vagrant, drug dealer or dog owner who doesn’t know the law, them you’ll love this park.
What would otherwise be a great park for residents of SLU, is basically home to 20 18 – 30 yr olds who do nothing but sleep, litter, do drugs and crack whips all day. Yes whips. My 9 yr old can’t use the playground equipment half the time because some vagrants are using it as a shack.
Next there’s the dog owners. A majority of them think this is actually an off leash park. Want to play frisbee? Well you will need to deal with dogs jumping on you and the 60% chance you’ll step in a pile of dog shit.
Lets not forget about all the drug dealing, along with the occasional fight that comes with drug dealing.
The police refuse to do anything.

This place used to be pretty awesome. Being a dog owner it was cash money in the bank having a park across the street from my apartment.
Now, frankly, it totally sucks. I know that homeless people need a place to go but I guess when I’m paying $ 1650 a month for a 1 BR apartment having a park full of homeless people across the street is unacceptable. There are literally 10 – 30 vagrants there any given day/​night and it’s always a complete mess and my dog almost ate some drug paraphernalia last week.

Nice park in the cascade/​lake union area. They’ve got a big ball field, then a couple different areas for the kids (one for little kids, one for the older kids). There’s a sand-​pit with some digging tools, plenty of slides and climbing things. There’s also a basketball court that doesn’t seem too full.
They even have bathrooms, if you’re in a pinch, and there’s the p-​patch to enjoy right next door.
Nice option if you’ve been shopping at REI or whatever and want to actually go enjoy the outdoors.

Vancouver, WA
This park is the best! It has a few small sandboxes, a playground for younger toddlers and a giant ‘lava’ pit for older kids. Many different kinds of slides, cool little chair swing for the younger ones, but my favorite part is it’s location and the fact that it is all fenced in! There are only a few openings that I have to keep an eye on to keep my runner inside the playground.
This park is about 4 miles from our house but so much better than the one across the street it is worth the drive :)

Broken limbs, sprained ankles, drunks kicking a ball around… what?
Oh yeah– KICKBALL! This is where they hold the Lakefest Kickball every summer.
And, for the little tykes, a nice-​sized entertaining playground with «lava” — oooooh! And actual functional bathrooms. And next to a bar. And a few bums under the trees. And people walking their dogs.
A great getaway in the ubanacity that is Cascade, South Lake Union.

So this nice little quaint park is in the heart of whats known as the «Cascade Neighborhood» aka «ALLENville», South Lake Union, «VULCANtropolis»… whatever…
This park includes a nice community P-​Patch, a GREAT kids play area, a ball field, basketball court and regular bathrooms…
The only downfall of the park is the bums that still frequent the area, but they mind their own business and dont panhandle…
Many a kickball games are hosted here, you will constantly see the kids of the neighborhood daycares here… ‘
This place has a great vibe overall… You can go there with the kids after they go crazy at REI… Plus you have a few restaurants in the neighborhood to go get some ice cream in the summer…
All around 4.5 stars…
