Okay normally I wouldve given this place a five star review. Lately it’s more of a 3 star… For nostalgic reasons I feel obligated to give it a 4. So here we are. So okay to begin. I’ve been coming to this place since I was a little girl and we lived in Kent. Yes we’d drive all the way from Kent to eat here. I’ll tell you why. CEMITAS! mouth watering pieces of heaven! The bread was fresh and soft. Packed with tons and tons of avocados and cheese and tender flavorful meats. Although there are many to pick from we usually went with the cueritos(pork rinds) or my favorite milanesa(breaded steak) Onions and your choice of chipotle peppers or pickled jalapeños.(hint: Go with the chipotle ask for it on the side) On special seasonal occasions they’d have papalote(an herb). Staff are very friendly and is very family oriented. However lately it’s gone down in the enthusiasm they put in their food quality. Sometimes the meat is good, sometimes it’s stiff hard… Sometimes there’s tiny pieces of avocado sometimes there’s a ton, other times you get two pieces of cheese sometimes it’s a TON(can’t complain when there is a ton huh?) but ultimately nostalgia will keep me coming back :).

My first time here. The Cemita de Carne asada is huge and very good! The service is also fast for such good food.

Food was okay but the service could be better. My boyfriend and I waited about 5 min before someone came from the back to get our order… then was nowhere to be found besides the short moment they gave us our food. Didn’t check in on us at all. I just wanted utensils! We ordered the carne asada cemita. It was huge!!! Which was why I really wanted a fork or something to pull it apart and eat it unconventionally haha. It was filled with grilled onions, avocado, seared steak and cheese. I wish there was a little less bread and a little more steak though. I also got carne asada tacos and those were okay. The salsa was actually spicy!

Is a great place to go and eat some people thing that 10 dollars is a lot for a sandwich but the real thing is this sandwich is worth it ! Full for avocado, onions, jalapeño and the meat that you like! I always order LaCemita de Asada and always I ask for a side of rice and bean(btw taste really good) the bread is so good I am almost positive that they make there own bread !!! Great quality and quantity!!! What else you are looking for !? Try it you won’t regret it

The food here is extremely authentic to central Mexico. It is a bit pricey but well worth it if you’re looking for authentic cuisine. There’s just one thing I wanted to comment on after reading prior reviews. The cheese they use is authentically Mexican. Some people refer to it as flavorless but I’m assuming these people are used to processed and aged cheeses(I love those too). Mexicans mainly use freshly made cheeses and it is more of a garnish and something to counteract the spiciness of the food rather than the main attraction of the meal. That said, if you love authentic cooking this is the place to go for tortas. If you prefer Mexican chain restaurants with loads of cheddar cheese, this is not for you.

Excellent authentic Mexican food. Love the picture menu on the wall with corresponding numbers for us non-Spanish speaking types. Had the De Asda Combo, came with 4 corn tortillas and a yummy sauce. Grab your drink from any of the fridges and use the bottle opener that’s hanging there. Any seat that’s open is available and tables are stashed in the back in case it gets packed. I don’t think that there were less than 20 – 25 people coming and going the entire time I was there!

A hell of a torta!!. Not like the usual. –The bread is really good, thick and lovely. ;) –The cheese seperates these Tortas from others, you get a slab of the queso fresco. But its not overwhelming or too strong. I would say it is their signature. –A good slab of carne asada –nice employees– spanish menu– but you are welcome in there!

A perfect hole in the wall restaurant with tasty authentic Mexican food. The cemitas(sandwich) that give this place their name are quite tasty and very filling. I will definitely go back again.

This place is as home made as Mexican food gets. This place is about real excellent home made flavor. Their specialty are a sandwich called Cemitas. They’re huge and feel of great flavor. I favor the carne Asada Cemitas. They come loaded with queso fresco(fresh Mexican cheese) and loads of avacado. I’ve also had the tacos and they are very plain. The meat is always full of flavor so that keeps me coming back. This place lacks aesthetics, but serves real home made flavors that only my Mexican born mom seems to be able to conjour up. Good place for simple Mexican food.

Worst mexican food ever. Paid $ 15 for lunch and it was horrible. The beans were bland and hardly any rice. My entrée was a pork dish which was overcooked.

I feel horrible writing this review because the service was so friendly, but the food was terrible!!! I frequent the teriyaki place next door and decided to give this place a shot, which I now regret. I paid $ 20 for two cemitas, which is not worth it at all. They are large, but it’s mostly bread. Not a lot of meat filling, very few caramelized onions, and large chunks of tasteless white cheese. I don’t know what to say other than it just did not taste good. The sandwiches were ready in 5 minutes, but the bread was hard and the carne asada inside was cold. Seriously… save your money and skip the cemitas.

The cemita at Poblanas was very good. The bread was fresh and ever so slightly crispy on the exterior. It’s definitely denser than a hamburger bun or a kaiser roll, but not in a bad way. It reminds you of homemade bread verses store bought. The sandwich is huge, as you can tell from the photo and very filling — it makes a torta look like a junior burger! They have a variety of different types of cemitas to choose form; steak, milanese steak, chicken, spicy pork, etc… The restaurant itself is a kick. It’s located in a tiny strip mall anchored by a Chevron station just North of Burien. It has a photo line-up of their entire menu on the wall above the cash register and in the corner the TV is playing the all latest telenovelas. The tables are resin plastic and flanked by resin folding chairs, but they all have tablecloths, which are in turn covered with protective clear plastic sheets. The place is spotless, though and the staff is incredibly friendly They also have a full line of tacos, burritos and other standard Mexican fare available, but you owe it to yourself to try a cemita at least once. It’s a rare privilege to have a bona fide cemitaria in our own backyard!

If no one is at the cash register, just ring the bell and they’ll be out in seconds. I’ve gone twice and I’ve gotten the pollo asada burrito both times. It’s going to run you a couple more bucks than chipotle and mucho burrito($ 8 – 9). But I feel like the ingredients are more«authentic» to a Mexican burrito than an Americanized chain. Ask for the green sauce. It’s a bit hot though. All in all I give it 4 stars because of the price. It could be cheaper. But it’s very tasty. Only thing that rivals it is the Mexican food truck on MLK way in beacon hill! Try it out!

I come here for sautéed octopus plate, tostada de pata(spicy and crunchy beef tendon) and cactus steak plate that I can’t get at other places. Yes, they have raised the price over the years as someone mentioned, however, I appreciate the fact that they don’t sacrifice the quality of the food they serve. Everything is consistently well prepared and portions are huge. They also have a chicken soup with pasta in a light broth that is perfect when you are sick. Nice to have a place like this close to my work.

Long time, repeat customer. The best tortas in town. Customers are blue collar and families looking for quality, quantity, and value. Mercifully hipster free. The spicy pork(tortas, tacos, …) are the best — slow cooked, chile rubbed, pork shoulder. Clean with friendly, competent staff/owner.

This is a hidden gem, you have to try. I use to work down on Boeing field and drive up at least once a week for years. Always bringing a few coworkers with me. The food is consistent every time, excellent! I’d say more but my mouth is watering just thinking about the great sandwiches. These days I work over in Renton and really miss not going every week. P. s. Go with a friend and split a number 4 and 7, Gringos are welcome.

Hole-in-the-wall, mom and pop shop. Looking at their picture menu, everything looked expensive($ 8 – 12), but basically everything is double portion or double in size from what you expect. The food is very spicy in a good, authentic and flavorful way. I went for take-out and will do so again next time I’m in the area. The restaurant itself was a little grimy and with a loud tv showing mexican programming.

Hopefully I can finish this review before my food coma hits…(deep breath) It was love at first sight. The first time I spotted the cemita de carne asada sandwich it was this morning in an article by the Seattle Times on Seattle-area sandwich sensations. Then I realized Cemitas Poblanas was just a couple of miles from my job, and the countdown to lunch time began. The cemita de carne asada is HUGE!!! I got it with jalepenos on the side, but ended up putting them in the sandwich for the extra kick. The cemita de carne asada is simple and delicious! How can you go wrong with avocados, steak, Mexican cheese, and grilled onions on fresh bread! Cemitas Poblanas is the real deal… Here comes the«my stomach is full and happy» food coma… zzzz
