Chase Bank

Was on my way to another Chase bank using the backroads and saw a Chase sign. There was no wait and the teller (Johnathan V.) was super nice and helpful. I told him that my card wasn’t working and offered to order a new one for me. He even pronounced my name correctly which was awesome. I definitely will be coming back to this location as opposed to others in the area where the tellers are rude.

This branch in particular and Chase I’m finding overall has the most rotten customer service in the industry.
This is why I’m switching to BECU. I am buying a house and there is no way I would ever give chase my business after this!
The branch manager had promised to call me back. However, he was too busy for little problems such as mine and went on vacation; he could’ve at least had someone on his team reach out to me.
I had a grandfathered account that was exempt from fees and they all of a sudden started slipping in $ 12 charges each month.
Luckily I caught it in time!
This is an example of big banks like Chase liking to nickel and dime their customers!
After talking to a district manager and a very unhelpful representative that was in charge of calling on customer complaints (Who was extremely rude and asked me multiple times if it was too much trouble to check my statement; which is where the charges were put into the fine print! No other written or verbal notification was given after five years of having this account). No resolution was given, they basically lied to me.
Do the right thing join BECU and dump your Chase!

Great Customer Service
I’ve been coming to this branch nestled inside Thriftway for 2 years now and think the fine people who work here deserve a glowing review.
They are ever friendly and i have yet to fill out a deposit slip because they always just handle everything. That is unheard of in LA where i spent 20 years being ushered through with nary a smile.
The other reviews up here are old and irrelevant or from someone who didn’t think to just walk 5 feet to a cashier at Thriftway for a roll of quarters. That’s how i often get mine at close to midnight on the regular.

I used to get rolls of quarters here when it was a WaMu. A Chase teller just refused to give me a roll because I wasn’t a member. I asked her why and was given a totally apathetic shoulder shrug.
Aside from myself and the people working there, the branch was totally empty. I’d say more, but I don’t think I have to.

Power to the consumer. Here’s to the power of the web. Some one actually called me from WAMU out of the blue, customer service experience manager and refunded me ½ of the fees, not all but ½ and I am happy with that.
I feel so warm and fuzzy :-)

So I get a letter back from some sort of manager at WAMU stating that they don’t and can’t change customer accounts, and though they appreciate my business understand if we need to bank elsewhere. Wow! After over 10 years of banking with them.
No kidding. how about just notifying people, hey existing customer your paying for goodies that we are giving away for free now, you may want to change your account from Gold to Free… at least that would have absolved them of ownership and put the power in the hands of the customer.
5÷18÷08 Follow up, so I sent WAMU an email regarding this issue, they came back to me saying that I didn’t send the email through the proper channel and gave me a page long of directions on how to submit the email. Nice deflection.
If I could put a 0 star here I would. Not for the people that work at this particular branch because they are awesome and have been very helpful in the past. But for the bank itself.
WAMU has now made all Gold Checking Services FREE! for the last 6 months. Check your bank statements, if you are paying a $ 7 service fee from Gold Checking get it switched to Free checking.
Now mind you the 1 star is because I feel they have completely cheated their customers. Sneaking in free services for new customers while charging existing customers for the exact same services that the new customers are getting for free.
I asked the branch to refund it and they said call the 800 number, the 800 number rep transferred me to a manager and the manager said he’d have to verify with the branch.
Look WAMU — you are all WAMU to me, no matter if it’s the 800 number or the branch. get a clue.
