Derek’s Auto Detail and Hand Car Wash

Best groupon I ever purchased! How they managed to remove the dried pizza dough glued to the headrest of the passenger seat of my car (don’t ask!) is a mystery! The car was cleaned to brand new condition, inside and out! I will definitely be a repeat customer!

I dropped into Derek’s without an appointment. I had an unbaked egg-​dish spill all over my passenger seat and floor; plus it had dried overnight, unable to scrub it out. They kindly made a spot in the schedule to shampoo and deep clean the seat and floor/​mats. They did an awesome job, cleaning all the crevasses and it is perfectly clean! And it was only $ 30. I appreciated their concern with getting it clean before it started souring and for the thoroughness of the job at a reasonable price!

My car was broken into and thrown-​up in. So unfortunate and gross. I felt horribly for having to ask anyone to clean it up, but they had a great attitude and made me feel well taken care of. Was greeted warming, they did a custom job — only did what I asked them to do. Worked quickly, and guaranteed their work. Said that if it started to smell again, they would touch it up for free. Great experience. Hopefully I don’t have a reason to come back, but if I do, I’ll come here. Also gave me a great price!

I have had my car detailed here before and they did a FANTASTIC job. So I bought my boyfriend a groupon detail for his truck and it was definitely not worth the money. We did let the Groupon expire so I expected to pay the difference. To be honest it wasn’t worth the extra or what I paid for the groupon. We could have done a better job at home. I’m really disappointed and definitely won’t be back.

This was the second time I have taken a vehicle to Derek’s for a carpet shampoo. Both times I was impressed with their friendly service. The rates were great, and I am happy with their work. I would definitely use them again.

This place has friendly staff and quick service. The detail was done well but did miss a few spots (especially when vacuuming the inside) but the car was clean inside and out.
They do a good job, just not as «detailed» as I would have preferred.

I was completely thrilled with what the folks at Derek’s did for my van. Last year, a man who worked at the shop let me know that he would have to put a whole new finish on my van, as the paint had lost its luster — and he was right. So, sure enough, I came back this year for an outside wax and a minimal inside cleaning. Even though the place was swamped, due to Groupon cetificates, my van was done in time, it looked and smelled beautiful, and the personnel was both friendly and warm, despite the load of cars and customers. Bravo!

Professional crew and fabulous service — I went in for the first time day to get a full interior detail and wash/​wax. They welcomed me with a smile, educated me about the services and gave me their best deal available. The car came out fabulous and faster than expected. I’ll definitely be going back — that is the highest compliment I can give! Highly recommend!

I took my Audi wagon here almost 5 weeks ago, on July 10^th. I paid full-​price (no Groupon) for a delux interior detail.
When I got in the car, I noticed a few pieces of the interior had been placed in the center console. The technician came out to mentioned that their solvent «melts paint off plastic.» He pointed out several spots where dials or buttons were now missing their labels, or the plastic cover was gone entirely. I told him I was more concerned about the broken pieces, and we worked together to find out that they’d broken the rear ash tray cover and the rear cup-​holder cover. As for the ash tray cover, he suggested super-​gluing it shut since, «you don’t smoke anyway, right?»
I returned to the office and explained that I’d like compensation for the broken parts. The woman at the desk said they’d call me by the end of the week.
Three weeks later, not having heard a word from Derek’s, I called to follow-​up. The manager, Cathy, told me the reason they hadn’t followed up with me was that they’d fired that technician. She said she’d figure out compensation for the broken parts, or order them as replacements, and update me on progress.
A week after that, not having heard from Cathy, I sent her an email with photos (see attached). No response.
That was nine days ago. I called today to hunt down that follow-​up, and she responded that they were on-​order and should be in this week.
Given that it’s been entirely up to me, repeatedly, to chase down compensation and updates for broken pieces of my car after a service that I paid full-​price for, I wish I hadn’t taken my car there and I wish I could rate them with zero stars.
I will update this review as the process (hopefully) works itself out.

When I read the many negative reviews I was nervous about taking my car to Derek’s. But I had a great experience. I was greeted warmly. The person signing me in looked over my car and asked if I wanted them to focus on anything in particular beyond the usual. She explained the details of the service I purchased and told me my car would be ready in 90 to 120 minutes. My car was ready in less than two hours and it looked great. They did a wonderful job with it. The reason I didn’t give 5 stars is there was a little cleaning solution residue on my console. Nothing serious.
I’m very pleased and would go back.

Got my car detailed, hand-​washed and waxed here and I am incredibly happy with my experience. They made making an appointment really easy and even called me to tell me my car was ready hours before I expected it to be! I would definitely recommend this place.

If I could give them no stars I would. I took my 2011 sportage there last fall. It was fairly clean, but having purchased the groupon I wanted to use it. I made an appoitment prior to the expiration of the groupon which was for 2 months past it. My ride back canceled on me so I rescheduled. I drop my car off. Nothing was stated to me that I would be charged full price because my groupon was now expired. I have used groupon for years and never had a problem when the merchant has no available dates.
I pick up my car and noticed the light in my cup holder is now broken. It’s not lighting at all. So much for that lighting package I paid extra for.
I get home and didn’t see my emergeny kit or tools. I left them in the seat pocket. I called and was told yes it’s right here. I said I’d be back in a few days to get it.
I arrive back there and it’s now missing. My tool bag is there but my emergency kit is not. She said she’d find it and get back to me.
I kept calling and stopped by again, no bag. In essence, they stole it.
If you want convicts working on your car, by all means go here. But they are thieves and broke my light plus the work wasn’t all that fantastic. Who sprays cleaner on a black car after it’s been buffed? Yes, the small spray marks are everywhere.
No I will never go back. Neither should you.

After contacting the owner I decided to post this review. The express detail was less than what I expected from any place I’ve been. I paid 40.
The wheel was slippery and dangerous to drive as was the dashboard being very shiny. There was still dirt all in the carpets and none of the services that I was especially concerned about like the doors were addressed.
I contacted the owner to ask for some kind of compensation and he refused. He offered to fix all of the problems. I immediately went to another shop and asked their opinion about the experience and was informed that using a shiny substance on the wheel is dangerous because it reduces gripping.
With such safety concerns as that, amongst their lack of quality, why would I return to a place to let them fix it? The concern is would they even know how to fix it? I spent another 60 fixing and correcting the parts of the car that were not detailed at another location and what a difference!

I had an offer and went to Derek’s with my Fiat 500. I have dogs and my car gets totally disgusting due to fur, dirt, etc.
It took them (understandably) a long time, but the end result was beautiful. I could hardly recognize my car.
I would recommend.

They did a CRAP job detailing my car. Rims still left dirty. They also STOLE $ 5 worth of coins out of my coin compartment. Which you have to individually pop out each coin one by one. So it’s not like they moved loose change to clean underneath and forgot to put it back.
Secondly I just looked in my glove compartment yesterday remembering I had more coins in a ziploc bag with A CD that belonged to my great uncle whom I bought the car from and he has since past away. They stole those coins to. That just makes me ill to my stomach. Those scum bag thieves going through my personal things.
I WILL NEVER RETURN!
I gladly reported the incident to groupon for they are always promoting this so called «business» that steals from clients and rifles through their belongings that contain their customers personal information like home address etc.

Great uncles coins had been stolen as well, spoke to the manger whom had given a $ 45 «credit» on my account in the computer, supposedly; without getting my name, or information. The manger also wrote on the back of a business card saying $ 45 credit. He also said he didn’t know who cleaned the inside of my car out but said when we looked in my trunk «oh yeah I remember this trunk, we cleaned around the outside seal since the trunk was full» but you have no ideal who cleaned my car out?! «Ok»
They also went through my trunk which was not cleaned out because I had it full of my things. Which was clear but they still went through my things broke the stand to my picture frame, went through my fiancés CD’s which he still will need to see if any were taken, and God knows what else.

I recently took a long road trip along with my dog. My car looked disastrous, and smelled even more so. I was apprehensive with using Derek’s again, as I had a bad experience some years back. Groupon had a deal, and I do like giving second chances, as sometimes it can be very fulfilling, so I took a leap of faith.
Steve took such amazing care in the deep cleaning and detailing of my car, I would be a jerk to not shout my happiness from the rooftops. My car looked and smelled like it did when I drove it from the showroom floor. I will most assuredly be not only returning, but will be recommending having not only the business, (Derek’s), but to also request for Steve to do the service.
I am truly grateful, as both I, as well as my car, were treated with care and respect.

When you go to a car detail place, you expect attention to DETAIL. While from a distance my car looked nice and shiny, when I got up close I noticed a definite inattention to detail. Marks weren’t removed, tree sap was still on my window, and worst of all, they swirled the paint with their buffer. The interior was done in a hasty manner, with windows streaky, dirty fingerprints, and a haze from not wiping off their cleanser.
Customer service is horrible and it is nearly impossible to reach them directly, or have them return a voice mail. The guy at check in was really surly and did not instill confidence.
I will not go back.

Dear guy (s) who cleaned my car yesterday, I’m sorry I tipped you poorly. When put on the spot, my mental math sucks (even more than usual)! I’ll be back with better tips next time.
I purchased a Groupon for #4.5 «mostly complete» interior cleaning and #5 exterior detail and hand wash. I named my car Roosevelt (RoRo for short), because I spend so much time in it. In the years I’ve spent with RoRo, he’s seen a lot of miles and places, and I haven’t been taking care of him very well… other than the occasional car wash. I decided to treat him to a full cleaning session and it was money well spent. I’m especially OCD when it comes to cleaning, but the guys at Derek’s Auto Detail really impressed me.
1. RoRo was as shiny as the day I got him from the dealership! I didn’t know that he could look that good. Even the tires and wheels were scrubbed spotless.
2. On the inside, my floor mats have never looked better. No amount of vacuuming on my part could’ve done that magic. They look brand new! Wait… maybe they did go out and buy me new mats that are exact replicas of my old ones?
3. In the past, I’ve made half-​hearted attempts at vacuuming the lint, hair, dog hair, and other mysterious particles off of the car seats, but it’s as if they’ve embedded themselves onto the fabric of RoRo’s seats and held on for dear life. I also tried using a lint roller to pick these unwelcome guests up with not much luck. Yet somehow, the car seats too look fresh and clean!
4. This is where they went above and beyond: on top of cleaning the cup holders, the side pockets on the doors, and the steering wheel + dashboard, they also cleaned the «in between» areas. They cleaned RoRo’s trunk weatherstrip seal (You know, the area where you would usually get leaves and dirt stuck?). They opened the fuel door, cleaned the inside and the gas tank cap, too!
All this work was done within 2.5 hours (during which time I was conveniently camped out at Starbucks, located literally next door). There’s not much of a waiting area, and there’s only one (busy) lady working the reception so you might have to wait for a bit… And yes, it’s on Highway 99, in a ghetto-​ish area. The place itself is basically a garage with a small waiting area attached to it. The people working here aren’t exactly the warmest individuals you’ll encounter, but they do a great job, they’re quick, and they provide sufficiently clear instructions.
For $ 99, I would definitely come back to get RoRo detailed again!

I got this this thru Groupon and it’s my second time using them.
The Bad:
They usually never answer the phone and take a couple days to return your call. The guy in aurora front desk has the worst customer service (real bad attitude, treats you like a number and your a pain to his existence). Not a happy employee at all. They are swamped with work due to Groupon (at least a months wait).
The Good:
They do a great job of cleaning your car. With the Groupon its a good deal.

I was super excited that there was a great Groupon deal for a car detail at Derek’s. After purchasing, I promptly called them to set up an appointment. They were very polite and friendly on the phone, and my appointment was scheduled the following week. After that, everything went DOWNHILL from there.
I dropped off my car by 12pm on a Monday and asked how long it would approximately take. I was told 3 – 5 hours and that they would call me when they were finishing up. However, it was about 5:30pm (they close at 6:30) and I haven’t heard from them so I gave them a call. I got a snappy «Yeah, it’s been done.», so I had to rush over there to pick it up. This was no fun during 5 o’clock traffic coming from the east side.
I pulled up to the shop and the car looked gorgeous outside! On the other hand, the interior was clearly half-​assed as the center console and glove compartment wasn’t even wiped down. Even more, the glove compartment had all of this dirt and debris that was not there before I dropped off the car.
The MOST disappointing part was the I found out that they had BROKEN the center console door. I didn’t find out until after I got home because you couldn’t tell it was broken if it was closed and adjusted. No one bothered to tell me! I posted a picture of it as well.
Long story short: Skip the Groupon deal. If you’re going to get your car detailed here, be prepared to disappointed and even get things broken like I did.
