Legit spot for Dim Sum when you don’t want to deal with 10 am madness in Chinatown and wanna get some Dim Sum around 5:00 pm. The cleanliness of the place bothers me a bit, but it’s nothing horrible. Great tasting food and prices aren’t bad either.

Good variety. Typical steamed buns and fried tofu, noodles(slightly under cooked) but Chinese broccoli was perfect!

The food was great. The store is not that big; just a normal size for small group. I wanna focus more on their service and cleanliness. They placed the chopsticks on the table without table napkins. I noticed that they didn’t asked us for water; we then just asked before we finished our meal. But our cravings were satisfied so all is good.

Still the best dim sum in town and very economical. Good variety of items on the menu also.

As everyone says, this place is for sure a hole in the wall dim sum spot. It’s tucked away and easy to miss if you not paying attention. This restaurant looks like it’s been here for years and would be a little intimidating to the clean freaks, but don’t let that scare you, the food is pretty good here. We showed up for lunch with my family and it was my first time here. The décor is super dated but I kinda liked that, it’s like a throwback restaurant. You order your dim sum instead of picking from a cart but the menu has pictures to help show what they have. We tried a lot of items but the shrimp balls, hum bows, sticky rice and eggplant really stick out for me. I was really happy with those and could of eaten a double serving. Service was fast, we got our food pretty quickly after ordering. Seating is somewhat limited as the place isn’t huge inside. Parking was easy but different since the spots are in the middle of the road(this makes more sense when you get there). Don’t judge a book by its cover here, they offer some good olé dim sum at a reasonable price.

Legit Dim Sum on Beacon Hill?! This the place to try if you are not too picky about the service or décor. Dim Sum house is indeed my new Dim Sum joint! I’ve been to many different popular restaurants such as Jumbo, Joy Palace, New Hong Kong, Jade Garden, Harbor City, etc. and they’re all pretty much a hit and miss. The food is usually mediocre and some items tasted as if it was previously frozen. PROS: Location: A hole in the wall restaurant located across from Seattle Supermarket on Beacon Ave and Columbian Way. Tucked away from the craziness of Chinatown, especially on a weekend. Price: Very cheap! I went with a friend and we ordered an abundance of food and also some orders to go. Our bill came out to only $ 40, it’s usually around $ 50-$ 60 at other restaurants. Food: It’s not a traditional Dim Sum place where they push around carts. You’d have to order each individual item. The menu has pictures for those who are unfamiliar with the food. We ordered shrimp ball, deep fried shrimp ball, hum bao, siu mai, chicken feet, turnip cake, shrimp on bell peppers. Our food came out within 10 minutes. Everything was extremely fresh, piping hot and delicious. Everything tasted homemade. The siu mai was one of the best that I’ve ever had. Nothing was disappointing. CONS: Service: Not the friendliest workers. The lady that was taking our order seemed very rushed. We had a hard time getting their attention when we wanted to order additional items. Parking: Limited parking across the street. Ambiance: The restaurant is a little run down. It is also a bit cramped with only about 10 tables.

I will never come here again! I came with my son one time and the dim sum is nasty, cold and tasted old.

If you’re looking for a well furnished, full service dim sum trolleys style restaurant, know that this is not that kind of place. Dim Sum House is one of those small, inconspicuous eateries that most only know of by word of mouth, and it is by no means a top rated spot based on its facility alone. That being said, it deserves a solid 4 stars for their food. Fresh, tasty, and cheap. Between the handful of staff that run this restaurant, everything is homemade and served steaming hot out of the kitchen. Sure, there are many fancier dim sum places out there, but if you’re looking for something more local this should be your next meal!

Not worth it. More family style for big groups. I order dim sum and 1 was enough for 6 people too much food pricey

Yes this place is indeed a hole in the wall, but the food is good and as a result I come here all the time during work for take out. Food: The dim sum tastes really good and is worth what you paid for. I love the shrimp balls and basically everything I have tried thus far. 4⁄5 Price: Around $ 2.30 a dish which is really cheap in my standards, four would fill me up. 4⁄5 Overall: A good place to eat IF you are in the area or need take out.

If you’re looking for tasty and cheap Dim Sum, this is the place for you! If you go with a group of friends you can get SOFULL off of $ 8. I couldn’t believe it. Of course you can get a sider variety of everything from dim sum places in SF/LA…but this is freaking Seattle! I never expected to fine a decently legit Chinese place during my trip to Washington, so it was a great surprise! My favorite thing we ordered was the sticky rice, it was unlike i’ve ever had! No salty egg yolk(which was relieving for me, never liked that part), no salted pork and chinese sausage(which disappointed me actually, I love that part), but it was filled with this saucy meaty filling which was DELICIOUS! Fresh, cheap, and good Chinese food… yummmm

My uncertainty about this place(dim-sum all day? take-out only? cash only? inside seating?) kept me away, and now I regret that I hadn’t discovered this great hole-in-the-wall sooner. I found the Dim Sum to be just as good if not better(and certainly fresher, from not having been rolled around on carts all morning) than the offerings at nearby Joy Palace, the price is right, and the seating and service are more than ample. If you want the crazy traditional dim sum experience, this is not the place for you– if, however, you want delicious, fresh-made dumplings and bean curd rolls quickly and at a good price, this is the place for you! I will say that their noodle dishes were not as exciting– seems that dim sum options are indeed their forte, as one might expect. Also a great option for take-out or catering your next get-together!

I feel like this place is a best kept secret. It’s always quiet when we go there Sunday morning but the dim sum is phenomenal! I’m a huge fan of the pot stickers, pineapple buns, hum boa, shrimp toast, and shu mei. My husband and I specifically don’t tell people about it because we don’t want it to get crazy full of people!

Dim Sum House is all about the food– always fresh, hot, and to-die-for. Whether your favorite is the deep-fried shrimp stuffed tofu, the crispy noodle chow mein, the shrimp balls, shumai or another dish, you will not be disappointed. Guaranteed. No carts here — you order off the menu(with pictures) or the specials on the wall(with descriptions). The price is right – 4 of us stuffed ourselves with 12 orders and the bill came to $ 50(incl tax). Atmosphere and service are what you’d expect at this classic hole-in-the-wall. No frills, but service is fast and efficient – if the teapot is empty, open the lid and the pot will be filled. Little effort is put on décor or inviting in passersby from the sidewalk – the restaurant is behind a Metro bus stop on Beacon Ave. You will need to step around the street trash to enter the front door. But once inside, Seattle’s best dim sum awaits.

I love Dim Sum House. Its just a 5 minute bike ride from where I live, so I could be biased by the convenience. I’ve had better dim sum, and perhaps the place could be a little cleaner, but the food is always fast, fresh and hot. Like, really hot — be careful. I have never had the«rude service» as some reviewers have mentioned. Maybe its because I know what I’m going to order before I even walk in. Sometimes I keep my menu to order more, but I’ve never felt rushed. Everlasting tea, cheap dumplings, comforting bowls of congee — this is a hole-in-the-wall worth visiting if you’re in the area.

This place wants me to go over to Duk Li and kick it in the bamboo steamer. I live super close to Dim Sum House, and while it is far from glamorous(what good dim sum place is?) this place always fills me up when I am low on dough. They have all the usual suspects: siu mai, hom bow, sticky rice, shrimp toast(a little dark and greasy for my taste but it’s not a usual go-to item for me anyways), shrimp rice rolls, turnip cake(in the proper form! Crisp, flat, and delicious), fried shrimp balls, shrimp stuffed eggplant… and the list goes on. Situated on Beacon Hill, close to Columbian Way/Alaskan and Beacon Ave S, they have parking lots in the middle of Beacon Ave. It’s close to the Chief Sealth Trail, so if you’re feeling especially comatose after your $ 17 multi-course spread, then you can walk it off afterwards. Shoot, if you want, walk north on Beacon Ave S and hit Jefferson Park for some disc golf! The service can be lacking at times, I often order more food after I have eaten what I originally craved, and I have to hail them down to order more sometimes – even if I’m the only person in there LOL My recommendation is to order it to go; they are happy to oblige! Inexpensive doesn’t mean the food has to be cheap-tasting. *Ahem* Duk Li.
