The bouncer here late night on 1⁄15 thought my very real ID was fake. Instead of keeping it(if he were confident), or giving it back to me, he threw it outside like an asshole. It got scratched on the pavement. I don’t know what the bouncer had to prove, but it kind of ruined my night. I’ve been in bars all over Seattle, LA, NY, and Florida with this ID and I’ve never had this happen before. I went to Finns after and joked with the Finns’ bouncer about the situation, welcoming extra scrutiny to my now scratched ID. The bouncer at Finns thought it was funny, and couldn’t see anything wrong with my ID. Finns was more fun anyway.

A good place to make poor life choices. Earl’s is a college bar and a pretty good one at that: reasonably large(one of the biggest on the Ave), decent tap list, cheap liquor, lots of noise and STRONG drinks. Everyone warned me beforehand about the mixed drinks and I should have listened– they are REALLY strong, like ridiculously so(I am paying for it dearly today). They have pretty decent specials(I can’t speak to all of them, but Wednesday’s specials are $ 10 micro pitchers and $ 4 hard lemonades) that change every day and their bartenders keep up with the crowd pretty well(far better than most). Bathrooms are small but clean and easy to get to. If you are looking for a place with ambiance and a good wine list, this isn’t it(they have 1 sparkling, 2 reds and 1 white), but if you have a big group, want to play pool, get drunk or experience a college atmosphere, this is the place.

Get the purple rain drink, order some food and play darts and you’re set for the night for hanging out with friends!

I’m at the stage in my life where I love staying in. I’d rather be sipping on my wine while watching a netflix original in bed and wearing my jammies, make up off and hair in a messy bun. However, I do feel the need to go out from time to time. But even if I’m in the mood to go out, I’d very much like to go somewhere chill where I can just sit, drink, and have meaningful conversations with my people as good music plays in the background. At Earl’s, it is pretty chill but pretty loud too. It’s just not my scene. But if you like pool tables, darts and a bar with cheap strong drinks(no complaints about that), then this is the place for you.

Your typical college bar — dark, all surfaces are sticky, and it’s very loud. They make strong drinks, have cheap pitchers on Wednesdays, and the waffle fries are to die for at 1 in the morning. So, I guess there’s not much else to ask for in a college bar. The security is great here. The last time I went, a guy was getting violent and security immediately jumped to stop the situation and made him leave.

This place is one in a million. My friends and I like to go after classes, especially on Wednesdays when pitches of PBR are only $ 5. The waffle fries, pizza and chicken strips are really good. The wings are mediocre and I would stay away from the chicken nuggets. The staff there is also really accommodating and even brings fresh beer glasses to your table.

Never again! I went to this place when I turned 21 and am never going back! First of all, the drinks are way too strong. I understand that they are catering to a particular crowd of drunken college kids, but whatever. Still gross. I don’t like wasting my alcohol, but from what I remember, I could hardly choke down what I ordered. I also warn all you ladies not to spend too much time in the bathroom. I went in for about ten minutes to check on a wardrobe malfunction and came out to a couple of staff asking to escort me out of the bar. Evidently, someone thought I was puking. Sorry for trying to remain decent!!! Sheesh…

Hidden in the crevasse of University Way, this bar really knows how to take care of their customers. From being able to play any song on the jukebox, casual bi-passing with their dollar pizza and great talks with the bartenders, you would really enjoy your time here. They also have three pool tables and dart throwing in the back. But if you get their late, you’ll have a harder time getting a pool table since this bar is just too awesome to pass up. One more thing, I really enjoyed their fried ravioli.

An affordable go-to place on the Ave. $ 5 well drinks and cheap foods. One guard is rude, but bartenders are friendly.

I think this might be our close go-to place for a good while. Located on the Ave and not as crowded as Finn’s, it’s a pretty chill place to grab a food and some drinks. Their drinks are ridiculously cheap, like $ 6 for a long island and $ 4 for a screwdriver, and they don’t skimp out on the alcohol. They don’t taste that bad either. And they have jello shots for $ 2! Their selection of food is basically everything that you can make in a microwave. Except for the burgers maybe. But even that’s debatable. But its like $ 4 for a burger if you pay with cash, which isn’t bad. Their food isn’t expensive, but I guess the quality can be debatable. My friend and I got a pan of fries to share and it was a huge portion for sure. However, it definitely wasn’t really good or anything so I wouldn’t get the fries. The garlic bread was good though, but it might have been because I drank a bit when I tried it. Nonetheless, it was pretty decent. Food’s not great, but definitely a great place to chill with cheap and decent drinks. I’ll be coming back!

Earls, earls, earls. If only I can count the number of times you’ve allowed me to stumble my way home and enjoy the wonderful buzz that lasts for a long, long while. This is not a bar for the light drinker. They poor one of the heaviest hands you’ll find in Seattle and they’ll do it for one of the least expensive bar tabs you’ll come across as well. They do forewarn you of the heavy hand and I strongly encourage people to listen, observe and take that into note. That being said. This is your classic, timeless college bar. You have the most diverse crowd of people, and if you’re a pretty girl, you’re guaranteed to get hit on by the cliché frat boys that frequent this place. The staff is hands down one of the greatest group of guys. They know how to keep people in line, spot the fake ids, and hold if down if someone crossed a line of inappropriate or uncomfortable. This place has become my little home since I moved to Seattle over 2 years ago and I don’t think there’s anything that will peel me away from this great establishment.

I’ve been here once and if was definitely a very enjoyable experience! Not to mention that I felt like their shots were incredibly huge for such a decent price! You know what that means… tequila! Plus they serve pizza! I even witnessed someone’s pizza get thrown across the bar lol. Or maybe it was a hot dog. Do they even serve hot dogs?! Maybe I was too tipsy… I still had a great time! I also didn’t wake up mad at my credit card hehe ;)

Earl’s is a solid little bar that has a couple of toes in each of the waters of being a dive bar, sports bar, and college hangout. It’s kind of spartan with basic fixtures, florescent lighting, and the general feeling that you could take a pressure washer to the whole place if you needed to. But at the same time it’s rather cozy with a crowd of inebriates packed in and playing armchair quarterback with dirt cheap pints in their hands. Pro tip: Get a dollar off drinks with a day-of ticket for a show at the Neptune. Take advantage of this if you can because that makes it almost three beers at Earl’s for the price of one at the Neptune.

I never would have come in here if it were not for the fact that multiple pairs of «my people»(ahem Mormon missionaries) were working the ave like nobody’s business on a Sunday afternoon. SUNDAYAFTERNOON! It’s a day of rest folks, save your proselyting for the rest of the week maybe? That said — we all wanted to avoid these perky pairs of zealots so instead of Flowers we went here. It’s grungy. With folks who are definitely not undergrads getting the wobbly bar stools here perfectly sculptured to their butts. We got a boozy slurpee which was probably the most disgusting drink I have ever drank… and a beer. And it was only $ 7. CHEAP. Later there were shots of fireball… and these shots were at least doubles if not edging up to the triple pours worth. Again, stupid cheap. I left buzzed. And kind of gross feeling. And I avoided the missionaries. So mission accomplished???

LOVE Earl’s On the Ave for: — interesting daily drink specials — amazing bartender Harry — cheap drinks — strong drinks — amazingly large drinks — close location to other bars and restaurants that are open late — cheap dollar pizza slices — friendly staff — 2 dart boards, 3 pool tables NOTSOLOVE Earl’s On the Ave for: — restrooms aren’t as clean as they should be(but it’s a bar, so shrug) — rowdy crowd In short: Come here for dirt cheap drinks that’ll get you buzzin’ fast, and stay out of trouble with the crowd.

So many mixed things to say about Earl’s… but I honestly have to say, I have to love this place more than I hate it because 1. the staff here is amazingggg! 2. the drinks here are not only CHEAP, but taste so strong and so damn good. 3. $ 1 pizzas??? I love you Earl’s! Hahahha! I come here from time to time, but never for their Thursday night«Thirsty Thursdays» when they have a live DJ and all that jabber. I’ve had their purple rain here, and oh gosh, take like 2 of those drinks and you’ll be buzzin’ like a bee! :) I come here for their thirsty thursday’s at night finally to try it out. I said, why not? Well, we enter, and there’s so many people here already. I think it’s 11PM but I can’t remember. Literally every table is taken but we get lucky and find one. Then, we order shots and beer and out table was taken. But it’s okay because we make friends with these 2 sweet girls and share a table. Yay. For Vegas Bombs, it’s $ 7 a shot. Heck yes! Thank you, let me get like 10. Haha, jk. But yes, the bars are busy with drunkards. Expect to get drinks spilled on you and expect to wait a little. But do wiggle around, you’ll go from the back of the line waiting to the bar in seconds! I order some pizza for $ 1 a damn slice and some hot wings. I was HIGHLY disappointed when my wings came, and they were as small as my pinky. YES, they were like baby chicken wings. I was like… WTF! I couldn’t be mad though because I was mad, hungry, and it tasted so good. Their ranch and wings went perfect together for me. Their pizza was fresh and came fast too. Overall, I love this place. Delicious apple cider beer, great pizza deals and yummy baby wings LOL. I am laughing at how small they are, but how forgiving I am to not hold this against Earl’s. One thing to note. Most people know that I don’t like«Asian Crowds» because I love to be around people from all races, at all times. I just like to be mingling with people from all races because it’s the beauty of diversity. So be warned that it is 95% Asian. Yes, from left to right is all Asians. I was like… WTF seriously? I probably seen like 5 Black people, maybe 1 or 2 Hispanics, and a few more White people. I was just surprised, but also kinda like ehhhh. I settled for it. But with drunk times, comes greater memories. It gets crowded fast, so come early, eat and enjoy the music. There’s darts there too. Yay for cheap drinks and foods. Oh, and watch out for dirty nasty girls that throw up in the damn restroom floor. –__–

This place is great for inexpensive strong drinks and cheap delicious pizza. Drinks here are made strong and affordable to meet the needs of all those college students. The pizza is $ 1 per slice. This place gets pretty crowded on thursday nights, so come early. They also are usually busier after midterms/finals. Since it’s located on the ave, it’s a go-to bar for college students. Since it is on the ave, the typical crowd is the young, recent 21’s, college students. Bouncers are not friendly at all. They even give out of state ID’s a tough time. I’ll definitely be back soon for drinks that don’t hurt the wallet. They also have pool tables, tv screens, and music too. Earls is known for their Long Island, Purple Rain, and blow jobs.

Creative cocktails, good service. The usual Ave crowd hangs out here, so expect a lot of bros and Asians. They have tons of seating and a huge area, only a small part they use as a dance floor. It does seem to always have at least a few takers, which is great. They have DJs, even on weeknights(this could just be Thursdays, though). Yummy pizza, which appears to be available even up until last call. If you’re in, tell Travis I said hi!

In my first review on Earl’s I mentioned that it was my home away from home. Earl’s has gone down hill. The lines are longer, the bouncers are ruder, and the drinks have become weak. The biggest reason for me coming was the drinks so when they decided to not be as generous with the liquor it was time to change locations. It’s still bearable though. I’ll still drop in every now and then for a weaker drinker, say hi to my bartender friends and play some pool but it’s definitely not home anymore.
