Erin Curtiss, Licensed Midwife

I couldn’t have asked for a better midwife. Erin was everything I hoped my care provider would be and more. It’s funny because I had all these interviews lined up with other midwives but as soon as I met Erin, I knew she was the right match.
She’s light, fun and easy going, but still by the book and serious about you and your baby’s health. I really liked that she put emphasis on my diet, helped hook me up with other care providers when needed, made us laugh (especially when the going got tough) and always put the decisions in our (informed, thanks to her) hands.
Most importantly, we never really felt nervous or scared. We always felt «sure.» And maybe that’s partly us, but I’m pretty sure it was mostly because we were in such capable hands.
We’ve moved away from Seattle and I’m a little nervous for the next kid because I don’t think I’ll be able to find a midwife as good as Erin. She’ll be a tough act to follow.

Erin is a wonderful midwife– very warm and fun. But most importantly she is professional in how she runs her practice administratively AND she’s so competent with her care. She doesn’t mess around with your safety or your baby’s and monitors you health-​wise like a hawk! She knows a lot but also gets on it with research and consults with OBs and nurse midwives when she feels she needs other info and perspectives. She strikes me as well respected and connected in the Seattle birthing community.
Ultimately she didn’t deliver my baby because I sadly wound up having a C-​section due to severe pre-​eclampsia but I credit her with detecting it and correctly referring me to the appropriate OBs. She also helped me come to terms with first releasing my home birth dream and provided me with sorely needed moral support as I at first prepared to try and deliver vaginally even in the hospital. She was there for me with moral support even when I was technically not in her care. I can’t say enough good things about how she handled the whole experience.
And six months, she still asks after me and my baby!
I have wholeheartedly recommended her to friends and would to anyone searching for a great midwife in Seattle!
