While the Russian restaurant is small, the food was extremely delicious & priced reasonably. The man working at the store counter did not believe I was 21(I am and had my passport & driver’s license to prove it) when I bought some Russian beer & I didn’t really appreciate how he voiced that harshly in a distrustful manner. Other than that, the Russian food was yummy. I especially enjoyed the caviar.

Just recently visited this store. Did not have any nice experience that were described in the other reviews of this particular place. Couple of times were buying dairy product and every time the expiration date on the product was already expired couple of weeks. There is a strong stinky smell in the store, don’t believe that it is coming from the kitchen at the back. However it could, if they use similar overdue food. Also, heard heard that the owner cashes out food-stamps.

A friend just showed me this amazing spot about a week ago and I will most certainly be back. I lived in Russia for a while and recently visited again, so this little grocery store is helping me with my withdrawal. :) Nice selection of teas, beers, snacks, meats, preserves, and sauces. I nearly jumped for joy in finding Zolotaya Bochka(not that it’s great, but it’s impossible to find in the U.S.) and fruit swiss rolls. My only reason for docking them a star is that I would have purchased 5 or 6 of those rolls but they literally only had one. Other stock looked very light too, but they probably walk a very thin line of too much vs. too little product. When I return I will dine at their restaurant too!

The lady cooking food in the back was all smiles and nice peeps, The cashier dude was old and grumpy. honestly i don’t think he racist just comes from a different generation and grew up in a totally different environment than most of us did or do. get the hint… communism … I only went there to try their borsht. while it was okay i honestly don’t think its worth going back :) no its not the best borsht out there. but if you wanna lose weight i recommend it hahahahahahah… lots of cabbage he played the change game on me also … but thats again different mentality :)

I agree with another reviewer that yes, too bad the owner is obviously prejudiced against people who look like me(half Asian) because the store has a lot of things I would love to buy regularly but I rarely go in there even though I live nearby and frequent Super Supplements across the parking lot because the few times I’ve gone in there, I can’t buy what I want anyway. Yesterday I went in and tried to buy a chocolate bar and a package of cookies and gave the guy a $ 20. He said he didn’t have singles and asked if I had a smaller bill. I didn’t, all I had was another $ 1, so I had to leave the chocolate behind and buy only the $ 1 cookies. I asked if he was closing soon and he said no, not for three hours. So he obviously did not want me to buy anything at his store. That was the last time I go in there.

Half Russian grocery store and half Russian restaurant. Definitely stop by here to eat authentic Russian food. I think this is my favorite Russian restaurant out of all the other ones I tried in Washington. Recommend — Varenkiki — Russian ravioli with potatoes and sour cream for dipping Pelmeni– Russian style dumpling with mean and sour cream for dipping Soup — Borsch(Russian beet soup) Mushroom soup(mushroom and barley) Piroshki — meat or cabbage filling. Both are really good Korean style carrot salad Great service and definitely coming here often

Cute little place with a lot of Russian items I haven’t seen since I was in Russia. They have a lot of items that you might want for tea for entertaining guests.

The main reason for the poor review is customer service. The owner does a poor job hiding his prejudice toward non-caucasian looking customers. I was followed around the store with obvious mistrust. I had no interest in stealing any stale produce. They have RED caviar locked in the fridge with a luggage lock? Embarrassing. The cleanliness of the store is acceptable but the refrigerated/frozen sections look questionable. At checkout i was what it will cost before ringing you up. In response to my puzzled look he said«What you don’t trust me?» and tried to sell me a greasy pirozhok that had been sitting out by the resister. He became a little more friendly once he heard me speak Russian, but I have been to this store at least 3 times over a period of time and each time I have left feeling offended. I would rather drive to Bellevue next time for Russian foods than come back here. Very disappointing.

What a find as you wait for the nearby Social Security office to call your number or after you go to Super Supplements across the way. I loved the stuffed cabbage and the goulash. My wife had the borsht. I went back the next day to enjoy a great Pilsner beer with my stuffed cabbage. Most customers that came in were Russian and they shopped for specific items and left. They missed out on the freshly made, warm piroshky I had for dessert

What a wonderful place. Such dear people. A special store to be transformed by the scents, sounds of Ukrainian & Russian languages. And of course the visuals of those imported cakes & pastries! I do not know food east of the Danube, but Mr. Gregory is always easy to ask about what he recommends. Last visit a few lovely Russian customers pulled me aside and happily shared their favorites. Too cool. The local stocked raw honey here is the best. And then the Russian chocolate. And the Croatian Cherry liquor. And that shipped in Lithuanian dark bread! you cannot reproduce those flavors here. Was so happy to find the Russian equivalent of Austrian farmer cheese, which grew up on and could not longer find. He carries about four different brands! In the ‘70s my father would take me to the now gone Continental Store(German) near Roosevelt &50th, and Delaurentis(Italian) in the Pike Place Market. It is so great to find well stocked, quality, dear people proudly showcasing their homeland. PS It was very revealing of someone’s cultural/political/historical ignorance and pettiness by giving one star ridiculously based on it being called«European» and not Russian foods. This shop carries typical foods you would find in Europe, by type — what you would find in Austria, Germany, Poland, France(wait no Slavic brie) etc. Just some with east of the Danube manufacture. And Philadelphia as well. I dare you to go to Moscow, or anywhere w/any tension w/US policy, even now, or retroactive it 17 years — and open an «American Foods» named store & see what kind of prejudice & flack you get by the local populace… understandably(somewhat) biased based judgements based on Cold War memories, and fear. It was a smart and wise move on many levels to name the store as such 17 years ago. Highly recommend this wonderful store — each time i step it in is instantly going back to Europe. Russia. Ukraine. Blessings!

I love this small store! They have some of the best meats, beers, and candies I have ever had! The smoked trout and Polish sausages are delicious!!! The employees are friendly and have great recommendations. I haven’t had time to try the restaurant but plan to in the future. Strongly recommend this small business to anyone who wants delicious European food!

I am Ukrainian. I felt my life was incomplete without SALO(pork lard), which is a Ukrainian national product. Today I found it at European Foods. That was a great success! Besides the Salo, there are many other tasty smoked meet products, sweets and snacks, which are well known in Ukraine and Russia. The storeowner is a very pleasant man. I will definitely visit the store next time.

We wanted to get some pelmeni and saw that this is the closest Russian store to us and they had great reviews so we thought we would give it a try. They had pelmeni along with some other good finds like these dessert cheese things I like and some candies my husband got that brought him back to his childhood. They also had the sturgeon caviar that we love so we got some of that as well. The store is small but has a good selection of food. I also saw there is a actual restaurant in half of the store which was pretty cool. The owner Gregory was very nice and said that the store had been around for 17 years!

If you live in the area you have to try their piroshki cause their just so good. Every time I pass by the place I have to stop by and buy some of their candies just because their my favorite and the best. Gregory and Liulmyla are nice and funny. Enjoy going there every time. Totally recommend this place for lunch and dinner. The delicious food is made by the best chief I know out there liudmyla. Also don’t forget to try their ice cream CCCP. Best ice cream out there. The sour cream they sell is probably the best in town. My family just loves it!!! Great place !!!

Great Russian store and restaurant! The food is authentic, tasty, reasonably priced with nice portions, and the cakes are amazingly good! Try the«smetannik». It’s the best cake ever. You can also get all of your Russian staples in their small store. There are great deals on sunflower oil, and you can get a liter of 100% pomegranate juice for $ 4. The owners were there both times we visited, and they are friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back to dine and pick up some more delicious«halva».

the piroshki(sp) here is very different from the one downtown and the one at the Bite of Seattle. if you like a lot of meat in the middle this is the place to go! Although you have to go home and put it in the oven to warm. It’s not great but I like it enough to go back if I want some more.

I love this place. My fiancé and I try to drive up here every few weeks to get all sorts of goodies. Well, we drive up here to get tvorog usually and end up getting some candies and piroshky and whatever delicious food they have on the counter(eating some left over pork chops right now: D). They have the stereotypical feel of a Russian store in the US(if you don’t know that — go find out, you’ll fall in love eventually) and the proprietors are super helpful. I just wish it were closer to our apartment.

I was on a quest to find Russian liquor bonbons before I was going on a trip to see my family. My mom loves that stuff, and I used to get a box for her when I lived in Tacoma, where there used to be a small Russian market nearby. Since moving to Seattle, I haven’t found any place that carried it. I looked this place up on Unilocal and decided to give it a shot. Voila. European Foods! You got it! I grabbed the fanciest most ridiculous looking box, with embossed golden texts and ribbons, asked the man(who may be the owner?) «is this any good?» and he said in heavy Russian accent, «Its not good… its PERFECT.» ok SOLD. Half way across the pacific, I delivered my mother this ridiculously gaudy box of liquor bonbons from Russia, she absolutely loved it. So much so, she hid it from me after she opened the box, and I lost sight of the box my whole trip… until the last day when I saw the empty box ready to be thrown in the garbage. I was only home for a week! Thanks European Foods, your recommendation held true and has produced one extremely satisfied customer.
