Excel Home Painting

I receive 3 bids from highly rated Seattle home painting companies on Unilocal.Excel had the most competitive price so I went with them. Matt, John, and Josh were the painters and David with the Project Manager. Everyone was excellent to work with and professional. The results exceeded my expectations. I would differently recommend them! Good work is hard to find these days and I feel as though I was very fortunate to go with Excel.

I set up an appointment with Excel and others to bid on painting my exterior trim. Everyone else was willing to spend a few minutes with me to talk and walk around the house. Excel insisted on coming in and sitting down for a full-​blown sales pitch. I’m a busy person and said no, so they cancelled. Doing it their way is more important than doing it the customer’s way!

This was our first time painting a house and ours is an old craftsman that was last painted about 10 years ago.
We felt that communication could (and should) be a lot better. Most of our concerns were brushed off or explained away as work proceeded exceptionally fast (too fast we thought) and we ended up with peeling and bubbling paint in areas within a few months that needed to be redone, or they told us «that’s normal» (on the bubbling). We had the identical experience when the recent work was redone. The house looks good (except the bubbles– and clean-​up was good) but I don’t feel we got the service, quality or consideration I expected. Once the contract was signed, I feel as if we were put on a conveyor belt we couldn’t get off, and the contractors and Excel did not always seem to be on the same page. I’m not sure I would never hire them again, but I would likely try another outfit next time. If you use them, be prepared to stand your ground should issues arise. That can be difficult though when work proceeds over your concerns.

I hired Excel Home Painting to paint the exterior of our house. I worked with the company to schedule the project from the east coast. It was a smooth process. The crew showed up on time, finished the project quicker than expected (thanks to great weather) and the house looked great. Every encounter I had, whether it was with the office staff, the project manager or the lead painter, was pleasant, straight-​forward and professional. I would recommend Excel Home Painting to my friends and family.

Pretentious about selecting projects. The rep I was on the phone with was scrambling for a way to not book my basic, bread and butter project I had for them. 1^st the timing wouldn’t work & when I added to the timeline; the work itself was to blame: A basic white paint refresh on a townhome to start with. They flat out told me they are too high priced for me, before I could talk about my budget and give them the full scope of projects I needed done. I could quote them on only wanting to work with people who have «investment projects» and not real estate readying. The sales person didn’t even awaken to the fact that the home I am moving into would need will need painting, as I mentioned it was a new build. I would not trust their language about what kind of work they are seeking, Don’t waste your time.
Judging by their ratings, if you get the pleasure to use them, I suppose they are good and what they «do»

We are a small tech firm located near CenturyLink field. Excel recently did some painting for us and they were extremely professional to work with. Once we contacted them with our need for painting, they immediately came onsite to discuss specifics. A very complete proposal followed the next day. Working with their office staff was easy in the way of scheduling. They came as scheduled and their painters were friendly, professional, and went right to work. Would definitely use again and A+ in communication.

We got 4 quotes from various businesses. Excel Home Painting came in middle of the road and we picked them because of their professional approach — and we are now very happy with the outcome! Great job from start to finish — on time; friendly staff and offered suggestions. We had the exterior of our house painted and just got in before the weather turned nasty!

These guys were fantastic to work with. They’re the first contractors that I have worked with in Seattle that acted like professionals, and the work was fantastic. Everybody showed up on time, communication was great, and the process was very easy.
I called for a quote late in the summer, and they were the only company to (promptly) respond and send somebody out in a timely manner. The bid was reasonable, and exactly was I was expecting for the job.
Matt and his crew did an awesome job, and finished the work a day earlier than anticipated. Matt was very adamant that the job was completed to my satisfaction, and was great during the final walkthrough.
I only wish they did plumbing, electrical, drywall, windows, housecleaning, etc…

They only completed 2/​3rds of the job and dumped their paint down a storm drain with a sign saying «dump no waste. Drains to salmon stream». Their owner response was that this was normal to dump paint and their paint was non toxic. In retrospect I should have just called WDFW or Dept. of Ecology.
DON’T use this company if you want to protect our environment and want the job done like they said they would.

Excel Home Painting is the best! We needed the interior of our condo painted (lots of strange recessed nooks and crannies, not at all your average 4 walls and a ceiling box) and Excel wasted no time in getting back to us via email to set up a visit to get a solid quote nailed down. The quote process was easy and very flexible with our schedules, and when painting commenced, the job was actually completed ahead of schedule. The paint was perfect, the job was professionally done, and the entire process was relatively painless considering we were painting our entire living space while still trying to live there. They even left us the leftover paint so we could touch-​up when needed! I would recommend Excel Home Painting to anyone wanting to paint (inside or out) without any hassle for a great price. The best experience I’ve had with contractors yet!

First of all let me be clear: I am a happy Excel customer. I had a good crew who, in the end, did a fine job, and left me satisfied with my choice of companies.
I had 3 bids for the exterior house painting, and Randy’s company came in as the middle bid (but just a bit below the high bid). The bid process was fine, the contract was cleared up before I sent the deposit in, and the initial communication and time line were set (and I was surprised at how quickly they were able to slot me, as an opening had occurred).
My crew showed up on time for the first day, and we went over the contract and established what was to be done, and what was outside of the language. They couldn’t stay long the first day due to _​_​_​_​_​_​_​ (not sure what the reason was). The second day was cut short since they had to go back to the last job and do the final walkthru. The other days were short as well (like 6 hour days) but we were in our heat wave of 90+ degrees, and we were right up against the July 4^th holiday so no complaint with that. I just thought I would have heard from them when they were leaving for the day — after all I was in my house and totally available to them the whole time.
So, yeah, the on site communication could have been better, but my communication with Sara (head of ops), Randy and Erin were just fine. Plus, there were a couple of things that my crew did for me that I consider above and beyond, and their work was rock solid (lots of compliments from my neighbors in passing).
I would definitely recommend this company, and would use them again for any interior or exterior painting needs.

Last week our house was painted by Excel. We were very happy with the results. The job was done in seven days, including one day for power washing the whole house. Our team of guys were Matt, Isaac, and Nick. They were always on time, very friendly and polite. Our house has very steep roof lines and that didn’t bother them in the least. They climbed up to whatever angle necessary! Besides the house, we had wrought iron to be painted and fences to be painted. All looks great. Would hire this team back in a second.

We were very pleased with every aspect of working with Excel. The price was reasonable, they were extremely prompt in all communication, the job took half the time estimated, it was very high quality with full clean-​up, and the customer service was outstanding. The crew were great also — thanks Trinidad and Jose!
And note, we were not easy clients. We delayed a lot in submitting info and making decisions, and even had changes the morning of the job. Excel handled them with ease and was extremely polite the entire time.

I am so happy that we chose to work with Excel Home Painting! The experience was really positive from start to finish. The estimator that we met with was extremely knowledgeable and he thoroughly explained their process and what to expect. We even received the bid the same day!
The communication leading up to the start of the project was also excellent — we always felt like we were kept in the loop. The team working on the home was professional, polite, efficient, clean, and thorough. We have an old Seattle craftsman that had a lot of peeling issues due to numerous layers of old paint, so we chose to have some of the siding paint fully removed. Our new paint job looks so good!

This was probably the most stress free I’ve ever been with contractors of any type. I work in property management — so I’m not a spring chicken when it comes to this stuff.
The 3 most important things you need to know for any project is Budget, Scope and Schedule.
1. Called for an estimate, they were on time and provided a quote the same day.
2. Communication between their office was quick, and through.
3. The sent a contract with their full scope 2 days after I approved their estimate.
4. With my permission, they were able to start the job early, and they completed the job early.
5. Oscar, the head painter, was skilled, friendly, and did a great job.
I would recommend this company to anyone.

I am so confused how this place got so many great reviews. They must not have had the same painter we had.
Our townhouse we were selling was completely empty and ready for fresh paint (no obstacles, should have been a fairly easy job).
When we checked out their work the next day we found multiple, I mean MULTIPLE, paint splatters all over the place. On the hardwood floors (had to be at least 10 paint splatters on the ground), paint on the fireplace, clumps of paint on the wall. There were several areas that needed a paint touch up that weren’t. It seemed like the whole job was done by a kid. We called them and asked if they could come back and basically finish their job. We told them we will mark all the paint splatters and areas missed with blue paint tape, so when they came back they would know exactly where to look. We marked probably about 20 areas that needed attention. Sounds flawless right?
Well, they came back and fixed about half of what we marked with blue tape.
They did not come back a 3^rd time. We didn’t have time to waste we had carpet installation coming, staging appointments, etc. They said they will address the situation if a problem came up with selling it. Well, the staging of the townhouse hid the mess nicely with carpets, so now that the townhouse is sold and has new owners, I guess it’s not our problem anymore… I feel bad tho.
Oh, and they charge an extra 3% if you want to pay with a credit card.
Was going to give them 2 stars because of their fairly low price. but decided not to since they didn’t even offer a discount or partial refund for the mess they made. Very least they could’ve waived the 3% credit card fee.

I wish I could give 10 stars. I can’t say enough good things about this company, but I will try to keep it short and sweet so that everyone will read it :) The service was top notch from the estimate to close.
Estimate: Short and sweet, but HIGHLY accurate. We wanted to use our own paint as there was a particular no VOC kind I wanted to use, and this was never an issue for them. They knew exactly how much we needed for the job based on the specs from the website of the company we were ordering it from, so we could order it without issue. The estimate was right inline with two other companies we received quotes from.
Customer Service/​Scheduling: I ended up being admitted to the hospital about a week or so after we decided to go with Excel, with pregnancy related complications. When they reached out to me as a reminder for the deposit, I explained my situation, and asked for a little more time to see if we could even proceed. Without hesitation, they said this was not an issue. This company cares about the people they are working with, not filling up every single day with a job. We also went back and forth. At first we cancelled, and then we asked for the dates back, and they were so accommodating.
The job: It was estimated as a two day job, but they finished in one which immensely helped our situation. I personally haven’t seen it yet, but husband say they did an EXCELLENT job.
All around, I have never worked with a better company.

These guys did a small job for me (under a grand) — and I could not be happier with the results.
Their pricing was competitive, their team courteous and professional (Sam especially), and the support and billing staff were a pleasure to work with.
I would most certainly work with these guys again for future painting jobs.
