I agree, they’re not a cheap place to buy outdoor gear, but you get what you pay for as you’d expect when you visit REI but with more stuff for the traveler on the go. They stock more inventory at this branch than the one at Seatac Airport though I’m bummed they no longer carry backpacks or luggage. The staff are great and very helpful. Ask them anything! You can always count on them to carry the latest state of the art moisture-wicking, skin-cooling materials in their clothing items. I and my friend can each vouch for the quality of the travel underwear(the one they advertise as «16 cities, 1 pair of underwear») like other reviewers echo here. We both travel a lot for our jobs and it’s invaluable to save space even on undergarments. Check out the travel«toys» near the cash register. Travel pillows, cleansing leaves, portable luggage scales, carabiners and more. Parking can be tough in this area, but hey, it’s Belltown.

ExOfficio Give-n-go Briefs I was absolutely freaked out that this product did exactly what it claimed. It’s the dryness and the moisture wicking that makes these briefs GREAT. So what if they cost like $ 20 just get your self one pair and try them out. I originally purchased some for backpacking /camping and like them so much I started wearing them to work so now the next time I’m at a store that carry these I am going to get me a bunch.

Safari clothes can be found here. The clothes are pricey but you can get your African safari clothes here year round. The store is small and the staff were friendly. If you don’t want to venture too far to get the last minute travel clothes this is a good place to go.

I bought my boyfriend’s birthday present here, what a neat store! They have all kinds of outdoors-y and utility clothing. The prices are high, but the quality is good. Also, they have a loft above the store which is full of clearance racks making the prices much easier to swallow. Very helpful girl at the counter searched desperately to find me a gift box… and found one!

ExOfficio Seattle Store is amazing! It’s tucked away on Vine Street in Bell town and probably carry the entire line of clothing… Wait. Back-up. What the heck is ExOfficio? They are a small but increasingly popular outdoor clothing company. They started off by making a vest for fly fisherman but have expanded their line and have been embraced by travelers and explorers. Think Indiana Jones type clothing except made with today’s latest and greatest fabrics. Buzz-Off clothing! If anybody spends any amount of time in the back country, you know the one thing that will ruin an incredible backpacking trip is bugs. Biting flies, mosquitoes, etc. ExOfficio Buzz Off clothing repels insects! It doesn’t smell or leave stains… the incredible clothing has this insect repellent/shield within the fabric itself and lasts something like 70 washings! Aside from that, most of their clothing incorporate lightweight synthetic materials that are light, quick to dry, wrinkle resistant, UPF40 or so AND repel bugs on the buzz off line! I’ve totally fallen in love with all of their clothes and although some of the clothes have a safari type look to them, nothing is better as far as I’m concerned when I got backpacking. Next time you’re in need of some outdoor clothing, do yourself a favor and drop by to take a peek at some of this company’s amazing gear!
