Ok now that I live on top of Queen Anne, Flame is my go to burger place. Cheesebuger=amazing. Fries=could eat about 10 pounds of these. Shake=chocolately deliciousness. Staff is awesome. Can call in your order ahead for pick up. Family friendly place with lots of entertaining drawings posted on the walls. Yes it is a wee bit pricey, but so much better than your fast food places down at the bottom of the hill.

3.5 stars: the extra 0.5 is for all the awesome, entertaining crayon pictures that cover the walls of Flame. These crayon drawings range from deranged, kindergartener scribbles to absolutely works of art created in tribute to the burgers at Flame. It’s fun to look at the creative things that people draw in homage of the burgers served up here(e.g.: monsters, a couple falling in love, and of course, lots of flames) but I gotta say… I don’t really get what these crayon-wielding, burger-eating artistes are so riled up about. We ordered two burgers, both of which looked and tasted like standard burger patties that had been standardly cooked and standardly decked out in standard toppings. I had to smother BOTH sides of my patty with mustard, ketchup, and Tabasco sauce to make it truly delicious. The fries were great though: thick cut fries(not steak fries) that were crunchy on the outside and just right on the inside. The drawings rocked, the cashier rocked and was super friendly… but the burgers were just A-OK. A great place to have a burger if you’re hungry and don’t want to pay much(burgers were about $ 6 each). A disappointing place to have a burger if you want to eat a burger and then return to Unilocal raving like a maniac about the awesome burger you ate at the burger joint you stumbled across while you were killing time before the ballet was about to start.

The burgers here are pretty delicious. I’ve had better, but they are still far above the average. And they are definitely filling. The problem here is the price… I’m on my lunch break looking to sit down for lunch, a burger and a mediocre sized shake, ten bucks! Jesus its good but not nearly good enough to justify that… I could spend the same at red robin and get better(and more) food. If the prices weren’t out of hand I’d eat here often… but instead I limit it to ‘when I’m desperate for a burger.’

My roommate and I eat here every so often when we are craving BEEF. We like their burgers and friendly staff. We have also noticed that whenever we are in there we are the only people eating there without kids. So be warned, it’s generally a kid’s place.

Decent lunch spot. Stopped in with mom and sister on a Sunday afternoon — they got a burger and a gyro, respectively. I got the chili cheese fries. The food was at fast food prices but freshly made when you ordered it, and better quality than fast food, so that was good. The service was a little weird — there was a hipster counter guy looking like he just fell out of bed despite the fact that it was 2 in the afternoon. My sister grabbed my chili cheese fries when they were ready and he told her to watch out because he had seen a bay leaf in the chili that went on my fries. It was sitting right on top — if he could see it, why couldn’t he get it out of there? Oh well, the fries were only $ 4 for a nice sized portion, so I guess if I had to pick out a bay leaf it’s not the end of the world. But it was a little odd. Other than that, though, the service was fine — it’s an order at the counter place, which is fine with me.

We went here before a book launch party, and it was okay but not super. I had the gyro, and although the meat was tasty and the pita soft, I wasn’t very moved by the tzatziki sauce. As far as I’m concerned, that’s what makes the gyro yummy. My son had a kids burger and didn’t like the meat at all. The french fries were tasty, and the shake I had was wonderful.

VERYDISAPPOINTING. My boyfriend and I were on a long walk Sunday and wanted some flame broiled hamburgers to eat in the sun on the bench outside. I’ve lived in QA for over a year and heard a rave review about this place. Well…I choked down half of my burger before giving up and my boyfriend took one bite of his BBQ beef sandwich and threw it away. We had a lovely lunch of fries and a Coke. :(We left hungry and went to Top Pot for a doughnut because we deserved it after dealing with bland, disgusting dried up meat.

I have lived here for many years, and had never been there, I decided to try it the other night, and it forced me to actually create an acct here, just to rant about what a rip-off my experience was. It was the first time in my life I actually had tasteless cole slaw, and the LARGE, hard bun that my pulled pork came with had to be replaced with Hawaian rolls I had at home.(it was take-out, otherwise I would have sent it back) Just a sandwich and slaw…$ 10.00. Bad place

Burgers are on the smaller side and low quality. Prices are good for the neighborhood. Burgers are flame broiled, which is nice. Closing time is not consistent. I’ve been shut out 5 minutes before closing and have seen people allowed in 10 minutes late. Head down the hill to Kidd Valley for a pricier but(slightly) better burger.

Blah. Chili cheese fries were huge but not very flavorful. Bacon cheeseburger was a preformed patty with a leaf of romaine lettuce, and cheddar cheese slices and buns likely acquired at the Safeway across the street. It’s not«bad» per se, but you can do so much better.

I love pulled pork, and their sandwich did not disappoint. The sauce is just sweet and spicy enough. YUM. My only complaint is that I couldn’t get it to stay together for the life of me, so I eventually got a fork and things were still pretty rough. It’s bbq though! BBQ is messy! Thankfully, I was SOFULL(omg it was a lot of food) that I decided to refrigerate the rest and eat it cold later, which totally solved the problem. Nom nom nom. (However, I don’t recommend the mac & cheese.)

A family with cutest dog was the poster perfect picture to get me in the door of Flame. They go to Flame every week. I asked the cashier to give them a 25% discount b/c they wer egreat promoters of Flame. I ordered the burger with the addition of a portbello mushroom in it. This piggy was not able tio finish the fries which reminded her of mom’s. The burger was big and hardy(I recommend u cut the burger in half.

The burgers here are definitely pricey, but… we are talking Upper Queen Anne here, so it’s kind of expected. They are made to order, huge, and perfectly grilled. I’ve eaten here numerous times and have always enjoyed my burger and love the atmosphere. I like the kids drawings that are put up on the south wall along with the revolving art on the north wall, which gives local artists a chance to display the wealth of their minds. Whenever I’m looking for a good burger I just take a walk down here and am never disappointed.

Maybe I just went with too high of expectations, but the run of the mill burgers here were sadly disappointing. I had a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings and my lady friend had a teriyaki chicken burger with fries. My burger wasn’t bad but the onion rings were predominantly batter and very little onion. My friend’s chicken burger was just a grilled piece of chicken with no sauce and pineapple chunks(yes chunks, not a ring like you would expect) tossed on top like an afterthought. Since it’s so close to my place I will likely try it again, but it’s definitely not my new burger joint. Give me a Fat Burger over this any day.

I’m not a fan of fancy schmancy burger joints that try to dress up and hide the fact that they are basically a greasy spoon slinging grilled meat and fries. Flame keeps it real. You walk in and from the hand drawn menu board to the smell of real beef patties grilling, you know what the focus of the place is. And they don’t disappoint. The burgers are big and delicious, the fries hot and salty(and you can get sweet potato fries!), and it’s all served fast and friendly. Even if you’re not craving a burger, they also do a mean chicken burger and their shakes are just the right thickness to make you really savor drinking them. When you’re jonesing for a burger that’s worth it’s price, hit up Flame.

Deep down you’d rather have Red Mill, but the powers that be have deigned the need to build a Whole Foods(gah!) and a prison(eep!) by it, and besides, it’s all the way down the hill. So you go to Flame because it’s still the best burger you can get with minimal effort… ya know… unless you were just released. And it’s classic Seattle service, polite but not overly friendly… except… he’s British? Maybe? Is that accent real? I should ask. Or maybe I don’t have to, since last time I was there I overheard him explaining how Unilocal works to the owner of Flame. So I pose an open question, are you just playing Limey? Either way, thanks for a good burger!

My office used to be really close to Flame, so I’d come here maybe once a week. At least there are no frills about this place, you get what they advertise — a big ol’ burger. I have to say, when I am in the mood for a tasty burger, Flame was able to deliver. And the fries are yummy too. They are hot and freshly made as you wait. I’m so glad they aren’t pre-made and all gross like so many other burger places. I also hear that their veggie burger is quite delicious, though I never got around to trying it. The owner is also super friendly and makes you feel welcome when you come in. The drawings on the walls are amusing, but I would like to see them maybe cycle through them more often so I can look at some new work as I wait for my food.

We have tried Flame now for a total of three times. The first time very so so therefore had to give it another chance. Second time again … poor food, yet when my husband mentioned it after our son’s checkup. Why not give it a final try. If you like frozen Costco burgers, dried out thin fries, burnt frozen chicken and over priced food it is for you. Don’t forget to add the side of food poisoning, we both experienced with our last visit. Best of luck to Flame, why you exist and have fans amazes me.

The queen anne version of ‘fast food’ — upscale, yet you can get«fries with that». I like their chili and slaw for sides and really love their pulled pork sandwich and beef barbecue sandwich. For kids they make grilled cheese but it’s not on the menu — be sure to ask for it! The O-Rings aren’t great and the workers are all business; not much banter available here. but all in all I much prefer having a Flame on QA than a McD’s.

Delicious pulled pork BBQ sandwiches. Haven’t had the burgers here, but the BBQ is good. Two sauce-covered thumbs up.
