We came here as it was close to our hotel. Great location, with many other restaurants in the area. I had the paella, and it was delicious. The waiters were very friendly, too! The food is rather pricey, but I suppose that’s to be expected for seafood restaurants in the area.

What a waste! Went there for lunch with the team. Wasted 2 hours as the food took 1 hour to arrive. Quality was poor too. Never again.

3.5 star for the food 1 start for the service(no service and slow, if you’re going to ignore us during the entire meal at least be fast about it) for a grand total of 2. It is pricey — expect to pay at least $ 20 for lunch, and don’t expect it to be fast. I mentioned it to some coworkers later and they confirmed that was their experience as well. be warned. But the food itself is fine.

Good happy hour menu. Fresh oysters, sashimi scallops with wasabi, tasty Kobe sliders, etc. Can’t go wrong. I’d recommend the bar and outdoor patio. The few times I’ve visited, there’s ample seating. Even for large groups.

My friends and I came here for Happy Hour two weeks ago, enticed by the $ 1 oysters and $ 1.25 sashimi scallops. The oysters were of only one variety, and the server was not aware of their origin. From my oyster-eating experiences on the Midwest(especially there) and West and East Coasts, I have learned that when the origin of the oysters is unknown, one shouldn’t have too high expectations of quality and flavor. This was the case at Flying Fish. Flying Fish doesn’t compare to Cold Storage in Chicago, or Neptune in Boston, but for $ 1, you can get a-ok oysters on the half shell in South Lake Union with a one drink minimum(not the case at other establishments). The Happy Hour menu includes drink specials, and you can order non-alcoholic drinks to use toward Happy Hour pricing for the oysters and scallops. Service during Happy Hour was disappointing, with waitstaff intent on clearing tables for the Friday evening diners that didn’t flock in droves to FF. Other dishes we tried: popcorn chicken(overbreaded), coconut shrimp(beautifully presented), and edamame(salt on the side). Portion sizes are comparable to appetizers for two people.

Came on a Friday night for happy hour. They have a good happy hour 3−6pm and 8:30 to close. It was a nice sunny day and a warm evening great for patio seating. The restaurant was almost empty aside from a few tables. We ordered fresh oysters on a half shell($ 1 on hh) and sashimi scallops on half shell($ 1.25 on hh) as well as Ahi tuna poke, truffle fries, honey miso crispy wings and drinks. They oysters did not disappoint, they were fresh and delicious. This was my first time trying sashimi scallops, can I just say that I have been missing on this mouth-watering goodness. If you have not tries this, you must, you will not regret it. The Ahi tuna poke was good nicely stacked with rice. The fries are good and predictably addicting. I did not try the wings. I also had a very tasty and refreshing cocktail, jalapeño, basil, cucumber margarita. SOGOOD.

$ 1 oysters and $ 1.25 sashimi scallops during happy hour. Doesn’t get any better than this! I hope this place sticks around!

I have been here a number of times and its definitely my go to stop in south lake union. Their gluten free options and the server’s knowledge of the menu and ingredients is extremely helpful. Its hard to compete among the plethora of high end seafood restaurants in Seattle and I wouldn’t say this play is the«best», but its delicious and consistent. I have had the fish tacos which were excellent(but extremely overpriced) as well as the fried rockfish, green curry tofu, and swordfish. I have never been disappointed by the food, however I do agree with many of the other Unilocalers that you arent really paying a fair price for what you get. I would like to see them expand their happy hour menu to include more gluten free options. But if you are a shellfish lover, you wont be disappointed. The cocktails are usually on point, and sitting outside on their patio on a sunny Seattle day is really quite pleasant. The service can be a bit hit or miss during happy hour, but if you are there in the dinner hours, usually you will get high quality and attentive service.

My wife and I took our friend visiting from France and her fiancé here as a chance to engage the Seattle gastronomy trend, but left feeling very underwhelmed. Our service when we visited was just fine, and I have no complaints against the restaurant’s ambiance. The food just seemed very sub-par for the price. My friend and I each ordered a Chorizo pasta with clams and white wine sauce, while her fiancé and my wife ordered salmon. All parties were disappointed with the result. The clams were okay, but the pasta was tasted like cooked box penne pasta. The chorizo was added almost as an afterthought, and neither my friend or I could tell it had been cooked in a wine sauce. The salmon was overcooked and honestly tasted old to me. Frankly we didn’t even finish our meal it was so lack-luster. It has been awhile since our meal, so maybe things have improved. Overall though, I don’t think I could really recommend it.

Happen to be a fan of seafood soups, chowders, bisques, etc? Well you are in luck because this place has one of the best I’ve ever had(and I have had alot). It’s one of those soups where you don’t really care that people are watching you lick the bowl. Northwest Crab Bisque. Get it.

Lovely seafood dining experience in the heart of SLU. I came here for Dine Around Seattle and was very impressed with my 3 course meal. Reservations were easy to make even though it surprisingly wasn’t too busy on a Monday night. Appetizer: Spicy Prawns. The portion was amazing for an appetizer. 5 large prawns that could’ve been an entrée on its own. The prawns were very tender and juicy and the saucy isn’t terribly spicy which is perfect. Entrée: Seafood Cioppio aka seafood stew. This was by far my favorite dish. The stew/broth was delicious and very home-y and comforting. There was a great variety of seafood and plenty of it! It may not look like a lot in the picture, but this dish was very satisfying. Dessert: White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake. Nothing very exciting or different about it, but it was still very good and a delightful way to end dinner. Bread is provided upon being seated and you are given balsamic and olive oil for dipping. I prefer balsamic and olive oil than just a cold slab of butter that doesn’t spread and tears up your bread. Much more refined and less messy. There is parking below the building and they do validate, which is great because parking can be difficult in SLU. They have oyster HH from 3 – 5 pm daily and another late night time slot that I forgot. Sunday is all day oyster HH. Oysters are $ 1 each I believe during this time, which isn’t a bad deal. Planning on checking this out in the near future.

The bartender, Josh, was really fun to talk to. Heck, I enjoyed him so much on Friday I cruised back over for Saturday. I am not going to lie though, I didn’t just go back for him because if you ever have the Happy Hour Scallops on the Half Shell with wasabi cream and miso, you will understand why I went back. I want to go to Seattle again, just for this moment. I want to bring ziplocs and fill them up. I want to bring friends, family, enemies, children, babies, whatever to enjoy these little salty, tender, gems. Booking my flight now. Would I go back? Ummm, HELLYES!

My favorite place for oyster happy hour in the city! The vibe here is so relaxing, and the servers are very attentive. We started with a dozen of raw oysters, they happened to be some fatty Penn Cove oysters(one of my faves) so I was excited! And we also got a half dozen of the raw scallops, they come topped with a wasabi sauce and ginger, and they were so good we had to repeat the order! We also ordered the sliders, popcorn chicken, and tacos, all of which were delicious and had incredible flavor, I would definitely recommend this place for someone who doesn’t like seafood because the beef and chicken are equally delicious as their seafood. We finished our meal with a crème brûlée served with two cookie chips and that was really the perfectly sweet ending. Great quality food, attentive staff, I highly recommend this place!!!

We had a team lunch there and, despite it being some what more of a finer dining place for lunch, I was underwhelmed by both the service and the food. Service was in general pretty lacking. We were a large group of people during lunch, we had to wait for quite a while before the waiter come to our table to take drink and food order. During the meal, there was no refill of the water. Luckily I had a glass of drink that I ordered, but one of my colleagues even pointed out on this subpar service when he pointed to me there wasn’t really anyone helping ensure that the glasses are filled. Come to think about it, I don’t think anyone checked on us how the food was or if we needed anything once the meal was distributed to us. i ordered seared albacore tuna, partly because I figured hey, there’s the word«fish» in the restaurant’s name and risotto did sound good. My tuna was seared in the outside but the inside wasn’t cooked through(which was what I totally expected out of the searing process). However, I felt that the fish may not be the freshest. Maybe I had to fault myself for having tried excellent sushi places… so my standards may be slightly high for some raw fish. Although the portion was decent, I didn’t like the fact that my tuna actually did have some minor fish smell to it. Initially, I thought it was just once piece of tuna that smelled, but actually pretty much all pieces of the fish did smelled. I actually immediately regretted ordering that dish and had to cover the taste and eat it with risotto to not get that strong smell of it :( Overall, underwhelmed by both food and service. There aren’t just many places around that area to go for larger team lunch though :(…maybe I have to continue looking for a better place the team lunch comes around.

I’ve told this is more 3 stars during regular service due to high prices. went during restaurant week and i thought the value is much better. lunch was served at a good pace, and the food(i had fish) was tasty. Not ‘exceptional’ by any standards, but given price/location it’s not bad. and worth going to again during restaurant week.

Came here for the $ 1 oyster happy hour from 3 – 6 p.m. on a Saturday. Among 3 people, we shared 2 dozen oysters, ½ dozen sashimi scallops, and truffle fries, and we washed it all down with $ 5 Stellas. Overall, it was a good deal and we had a good time, but nothing was particularly outstanding. The oysters had a lot of shell pieces in them, and the truffle fries were not among the better ones I’ve had. Sashimi scallops also were just ok; I think they sounded better on the menu than they tasted. Service was friendly, though a bit on the slow side. No complaints about the $ 5 Stella Artois though– nice and refreshing! Surprisingly, not that many places around here seem to offer $ 1 oyster happy hour, especially at that time on a Saturday. So props to Flying Fish for having that available!

Crazy Kiddos, it’s a Flying Fish… Actually not really, because this place is fine dining, placed in the middle of South Lake Union. I would think that a place like this should be living up to its name, but I’m not sure. I have been here a few times now, and I’m not sure if not for it being so close to where I work, that I would otherwise seek out this place. Let’s chat about it. I love fish, shellfish, and just about any creature that is edible that comes out of the sea. So I have had both the Steelhead Salmon dish and the Ocean Salad. Steelhead is notoriously hard to cook well, because the meat is so incredibility lean; there just isn’t enough fat make this fish right, and unfortunately this place falls into this category. The meat was just a tab bit on the tough side. The ocean salad, was a protein packed meal, except it was hard for me to tell what the fresh bits were. My plate contained a bed of green spinach, little shrimps, bay scallops, and one crawfish? The shrimps didn’t seem to have any seasoning, and the scallops seemed to be a bit to briny for me, and didn’t seemed to be the freshest out there. One Crawfish. So yes, it’s not the most expensive for a lunch time meal… actually at 19 bucks, it’s really expensive for a cold salad. I would have preferred to have the burger instead, as that was what my team members all seemed to have ordered and were stuffed afterwards. I guess that’s what I’m getting instead, except I’m going somewhere else to get it, because at 15 bucks, that’s one expensive burger. I would rather drive to Red Mill, and get something there, because the value is there… in fact I’ll probably head over there today. So flying fish, it’s a flying fish at best, and while I dislike generally giving a 3 star review, but it’s just what it is.

Im rating on their daily happy hour. I really wish this restaurant becomes better known(and should be better rated in Unilocal) because of the amazing experience i had during happy hour today with my fambam. The 88 cent oysters were extremely fresh and worth way more than what we paid. The ahi poke with coconut rice which i also believe is worth much more than what i paid. It was an upgrade from a typical mundane ahi poke. Truffle fries also nicely added the heaviness that was necessary for the meal. The scallops which were like 1.25 a piece was amazing as well. It had a sort of mustard– wasabi ish sauce with ginger on top, and it was a one of a kind. Loved the experience
