Went here for the first time yesterday, and got my hair cut by Leah. I was really unsure about cutting it shorter at first, but she did an AMAZING job. I love it! (I got a longer reverse bob, btw) She’s also very personable. I will definitely be back!

Affordable/​cheap hair stylist isn’t the best choice, you get what you pay for. The stylist here has ruined my hair multiple times. When I came back to get my roots bleached she turned it YELLOW! and the rest of my hair darker than it was before. Very upset as it was pushing MIDNIGHT, she didn’t deserve to be paid for that service. I paid anyway. I was so pissed as she was arguing with me on what color my hair was, I showed her a recent picture of me and she had the nerve to say «that girls hair is different» uh um THAT IS ME AND MY HAIR. Very unprofessional to argue with a client! Actually I’ll change this to one star.

Heading back to my car after dinner on Greenwood Ave, glanced in the Fredericks window & did a double-​take; the patron in Mallory’s chair had the EXACT cut & color I wanted. Walked in & told the Receptionist I wanted «her» hair. She thought I meant Mallory, who had blonde & lavender hair :-)
Mallory delivered fabulously for me! My red color has been natural, mellowed beautifully, & the cut has been insanely easy to style. All my life my styling routine has been either: 30+ minutes of fuss, or most days fling into a ponytail. I can wash this cut, slather in some product, let it air dry then run my fingers thru & go.
As others have said, this is not a fancy spa salon. Just talented pleasant ladies who give a great service.

I love it here, they have always been excellent with color for my hair and I’ve been trying out new things lately (going grey, need help!). Also, have had Mallory and Jamie for color and cuts and love them both. All the ladies seem great and they are all friendly and easy to talk to. The price is just right for getting a great color and cut, and I always feel like I come out looking great!

Scheduled with Mallory. She was great! Gave me a haircut that was the perfect balance between the general description of what I wanted and her stylistic touch. She was professional and fun to talk to.
Also, brownie points for simple online scheduling and a cash discount (which not all the stylists do).

I hired Andi and Mallory to work my wedding day for myself (the bride) and the bridemaids, the they are amazing.
They were able to work with me/​us on what looks I wanted, yet also be realistic to what will hold up for the whole day (multiple days, to be specific). They are incredibly talented, and worth beyond every penny. I will continue to work with Andi for future hair/​makeup endeavors!
I could not recommend them enough!

The price here for a brazilian blowout is GREAT, but the service itself is not so much. They really, really skimped on the product and of course, the results were virtually nonexistent. I had it done at Frederick’s a while ago, so perhaps they have been more through with this service, however the impression they left on me has made me hesitate to return again.
Wish this could have been a match made in heaven, but alas, you get what you pay for.

I highly recommend this place! I had to find a new salon because I moved up to northern Seattle and going to Cap Hill for a hair cut became too cumbersome a mission. After looking at some reviews on this place, looking at the photos, and finding the price reasonable, I made an appointment. So glad I went! I had Mallory and she was awesome! Very easy to talk to, totally understood what I wanted and she even gave me her recommendation on what would look good.
I was also inspired by her lovely lavender hair and I will be returning to get my hair dyed too!
Can’t recommend this place enough!

Andi did an amazing job with the Brazilian Blowout and got me in on short notice.

I visited Frederick’s for the first time just a couple of days ago after my friend recommended it to me. Having my hair cut this time was such a big deal for me since I wanted to go from veeery long hair to really REALLY short!
Mallory was excellent! She made me feel very comfortable with my decision and helped me find the perfect haircut for me. My family, friends and me are loving it!

Andi is wonderful! She did the hair for my wedding and did a phenomenal job. I am so picky about my hair and she knew exactly what I was looking for. She is super responsive and great to work with. Andi helped make my wedding day great and I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking hair for their wedding or special occasion.

Andi’s a cool lady and she saved this 8 months-​pregnant woman from a heat stroke! The combination of prenatal vitamins and pregnancy hormones turned me into a disheveled Rapunzel. Combine that with the crazy hot weather we’ve been having and I was liable to melt.
It was really nice to chat with her while she cut my hair, and she did a fabulous job. She knew exactly what she was doing — did a lot of lightening with layers, but kept it long enough for me to pull it up into a bun if I needed to. Thank you for relieving this woman of a veritable head blanket!

I had to gave it a five star. My experience was amazing there is nothing wrong, not a single thing, with Mallory. I am pleased! I always wanted to have blonde strips on my hair or a Balayage but when I went for consultation in another salon, they told me it’s not possible because I have a really dark hair. So I put it off until now. Mallory at Frederick’s was amazing, she understands and achieved this great color on my hair. Mallory gives you what you want and that dream hair of yours is achievable with her. Mallory is also such a sweet heart. I’m an introvert and I am awkward at meeting new people but Mallory made the whole experience comfortable. She does amazing job and also an amazing person. You’ll have to see it for yourself :)

Coming up on 5 years. Impeccable stylists. Leah is just awesome! Trying something new today… I would recommend her to anyone!

Leah is my go-​to! Solid in knowing her coloring and products, a joy to talk to and one to always give good and fun suggestions on hair and color.

One word, JAMIE. Seriously, she is amazing. She does my cut and color, as well as my husband’s cut (she’s versatile, see.) I lucked into her over 5 years ago when she worked at a salon a few blocks from my home. When she moved to Fredericks and I realized I would have to bus or drive to her, losing the convenience of walking, it was a no-​brainer. I trust her, she listens to my concerns (read, lack of desire to do anything that takes more than 3 minutes) and always makes my hair look terrific. You can schedule on-​line, and I love that convenience. She is super accommodating, and I just adore her. I have recommended her to a very hard to please co-​worker, who is very satisfied.
*All of the beauticians seem wonderful, I can just only vouch for Jamie. The salon is bright, clean and organized. The 5 (bus) stops directly outside the shop, so super convenient, or there is parking behind the building.

I have been seeing Jamie for 5 years. She is a very talented stylists who listens to what the customer wants and makes sure you leave happy! Plus she is a great person, easy to talk to, and will accommodate her schedule to find appointment times that work for you. I won’t go to anyone else!

I’m the type of girl who gets her hair cut once or twice a year, so when I do I want to go somewhere that can give me two things: A great experience and a lovely haircut that will grow out with my busy schedule. After searching around I found Fredericks of Greenwood.
I booked an appointment with Mallory (+1 for ease of online booking) due to her glowing reviews online. Parking was easy and I was able to get in and out in no time. Mallory was sweet and genuine, a pleasure to chat with, and gave me a wonderful cut! I asked for some layers to lighten the load of my hair and a touch up on my self cut bangs (yeah, I decided to do that to myself) just in time for a New Years Eve show.
Overall I had a great experience and will be returning here for my next cut– that may have been inspired to be sooner than six-​12 months!

I’ve been frequenting this salon since I moved to the Greenwood area of Seattle in February of 2013.
I was new to the neighborhood, so I went on Unilocal and just browsed through reviews for a few of the local salons. Frederick’s sounded like good quality, unpretentious, and friendly service. My kind of place!
I’m not going to lie, I chose Andi for my first appointment at random. But it was my best random decision ever! I’ve loved everything she’s done with my hair, and when I was on the fence to cut it all off and get a pixie cut, she was enthusiastic and supportive.
I definitely recommend this place!

I tried this salon shortly after moving to Seattle in October of 2012. While the girls here are super nice, I left the salon and cried after my first haircut and color. In fact, I cried every morning as I got ready for a week before I called to let the salon know I was not happy with my hair.
The problem: I have fine brown hair that is cut in pretty basic long layers (my hair was about halfway down my back) with natural looking highlights and lowlights. I brought the color formula from my previous stylist and pictures of my hair after a fresh haircut. The color was blotchy, but what was devastating was how she cut my hair with this blunt shelf at the jaw line.
The owner offered to do a free corrective appointment, but with the chaotic schedules of the holidays I didn’t get in until Jan 2013.
I sat down in the chair and she basically begun cutting without telling me what she was doing. She cut into/​thinned the ‘blunt shelf’ in an attempt to blend it a bit better. unfortunately, since I already had thin hair, it now just looked horrible scraggly in the ends and really from the jaw line down. She retouched the color which made it slightly better. In the end I flew out of state to my old hairdresser back home, and ended up needing about 6 inches cut off to repair the damaged look from the thinning. Almost a year later, my hair is still growing out from a bad decision to try Fredrick’s. I feel terrible posting this because they are so nice, but would hate for this to happen to someone else.
