Glam & Tonics is amazing for hair and make-​up. A pure Aveda salon in Seattle — convenient and comfortable. Shane is an artist and master! He is consultative, provides great recommendations for the latest trends, and he also listens to what I need for my career or life at that time. He is so professional and the result is a fantastic haircut, color, and make-​up every time! Friends, family and people I just meet compliment my hair and ask me where I go and who does my hair. Honestly, one of if not THE best Aveda salon in the Pacific Northwest. The staff is always super fun to be mingle with. Juan the owner, is so funny and has a good crew working under him. Shane has some of the best customer service. Phillip is sharp with his coloring skills.
The ambiance is on par with every season and always maintains a refined comfy mountain cabin getaway feel without feeling tacky or over done. Its a little quieter and personal of an experience which is why I keep coming back. Another favorite part of my visit beside my hair, is the TEA.
Overall, if you haven’t checked out this place, its a must! Winter has the cozy fireplace to snuggle up to while your color processes. During summer, you can sit out on the patio with a warm breeze while you sip lemonade.
You wont be disappointed.

I always get so excited when it’s time to come here! It’s such an inviting atmosphere that I feel like I’m going to hangout with friends :) The space itself is very clean and chic and there’s always fantastic music playing! Their patio is such a lovely place to rest while your color is processing.
I’ve been seeing Phillip Todd for quite a while now and his artistry is nothing short of stellar! I’m continuously amazed and impressed with what he can do with color! He’s in his element, and I trust him completely. It’s really cool watching him work! His work with me has ranged from lovely/​professional to the edgier side, and he just makes it all look so good! Bonuses: He even found a lipstick that works for me-​and my hair ;) (I was previously a staunch lipstick-​hater.) and he gives the BEST scalp massage! It’s also a delight just to visit with him! What a great person to know and to spend time with!
I’ve also seen the work of some of the other stylists there, and it’s clear that they’re all artists!
I can’t recommend this place highly enough!

Shane Talley is one of Seattle’s most gifted hair stylists. He is a true professional and you immediately notice that with your initial consultation. He actively listens to you and explains the process to get you the look you want as well as advises on what’s on trend, and whether you’re a man or a woman… he knows his stuff. If you’re looking for a clean fade, to color your hair, or try something completely new, then Shane is your guy at the Glam& Tonics Aveda salon. I’ve had him cut, fade, straighten, and color my hair and it looks great every time and all with Aveda products that are good for my hair and the environment. He’s also got a great personality and is an amazing storyteller. You won’t find a better stylist in the Seattle area, or an Aveda salon with such a trendy, personal, and friendly vibe.

Before yesterday, I had never dyed my hair. I had been wanting to make a drastic change to my hair color for a while, and then finally made the plunge yesterday. I could not be happier with my color! Dirk was absolutely phenomenal. He listened to me and made sure that he understood my vision completely and kept me in the loop every step of the way. After two rounds of bleaching and applied color, my hair still looks and feels great & healthy!
The entire atmosphere and service is so friendly and welcoming, I honestly couldn’t imagine a better experience.

It’s taken about 8 years but I can finally say I am in LOVE with my hair and my new hair guru Phillip! I’ve been to so many places always hoping that someone could do something special and pretty for my fine ashy blonde hair that I always kept i a ponytail for lack of style and finally this has happened! I have the most perfect cut for my face and the most beautiful shade of baby blonde hair I’ve ever seen!
Phillip is so skilled at his craft (cutting & coloring) and so easy to talk to and also easy to not talk to if you don’t feel like talking. He listened to what i wanted and made it so that my hair was healthier then it was when I came in and so much more beautiful.
I’m getting married in three weeks and I kinda thought I was nuts for going in for such a drastic change but I kept hearing such wonderful reviews for Phillip so I just took a leap of faith and knew my sweet finance would think I was beautiful anyway and wow am I just thrilled for my new look.

I have been wanting to try Glam & Tonics since reading such good reviews on their hair color, but instead of making my appointment like a normal person, I decided to bleach my own hair one night because I was bored, (not a good idea).
2 boxes later and I still have bright yellow hair! I stopped attempting to fix it and called G&T with my shame. Juan answered and was lovely, I felt like they genuinely cared about fixing my post-​it-​note colored hair, he even got me an appointment the same day with Dirk.
Dirk was very welcoming and I felt like I was sitting down with an old friend, he was professional, had ideas, listened to me and we laughed (several times)!
With every minute that went by I felt like a new woman and I was fascinated with the way he applied my new ‘natural color’, he made me feel like a catwalk model having a color and cut in Paris!
Juan was also very welcoming and offered me a glass of mimosa and a seat out on the pretty patio while my color was developing.
It is unfortunately rare to have such a great experience from start to finish with businesses but these guys know cutting edge!
My color looks fantastic, the cut was amazing and atmosphere was blissful!
I never felt pressured into anything and even made a follow up appointment as I left. I will only let G&T — Dirk work magic on my hair from now on.

Phillip is beyond amazing. My hair had been brutalized by some no-​talent hack when I found this salon… I thought I was hopeless. Phillip was able to give me a really edgy, fun short hair cut that made me like my hair again. I always have some hair brained scheme for what I want to do next, and somehow he always makes it happen! The salon is beautiful, the entire staff is welcoming and very professional. I would basically pay his rent. .I would give him bone marrow. I would help him hide a body!

He cuts and colors my hair and I’m always happy with the finished look. I’ve been in and out of a lot of Salons — Gene Juarez, Obadiah, Best Kept Secret — and Dirk @ Glam & Tonics is my favorite stylist by far.

Amazing blowout magic performed by Justin. The deep conditioning treatment he used made my hair feel like butter. More than that, I felt very comfortable and at ease here. Some salons have that uppity vibe that just rubs me the wrong way. None of that attitude here. Just skilled craftsmen who are obviously passionate about hair. I would recommend in a heartbeat!

Dirk has been my hairdresser for 3 years and I’ve gotten more compliments on my hair in those three years than at any other point in my life. Dirks passionate about hair and understands how to collaborate with his clients to achieve something truly special. He’s a talented hairdresser and has a way of making you feel like a cherished friend he’s known his whole life. Amazing hair done by your «best friend» what more could you want? Well if you’re me you want a beautiful space to get your hair done in and voila Glam and Tonics is just that space. From the décor to the music to the fashion the guys are rockin it’s the perfect spot to share a few hours and some laughs with your favorite hairdesser.

I could not be happier with my hair color! Phillip is the best. No really, not just saying that. THE BEST! He listens and is completely creative. I went in there with an idea of what I wanted and after consulting about what is going to be realistically the best thing for me, I came out of there with EXACTLY what I wanted. That foresight and flexibility is the mark and defining characteristic of a true professional if you ask me. I am a makeup artist and I could have chosen anyone but I chose Phillip! You should too if you are looking to seriously upgrade your look!

He’s been coloring, cutting and styling my hair for over a year now! He is absolutely fabulous! He listens to what you want and has the skill to make anything you want become a reality. He is excellent at color, at styling, and at cutting your hair! I am very grateful that he always listens to what I am thinking about for my hair, and, I am grateful that he also gives me his expert feedback. He is simply a 10! I am unsure what else to write because I wouldn’t change a thing about him. He is incredibly intelligent, has an awesome personality, and can discuss anything. He can do incredibly funky cool chic things for your hair, and he can do traditional and classic, and anywhere in between. Parking is a breeze. And the salon is cozy and happy and family and chic! I am thrilled Dirk is at Glam & Tonic, a lovely Aveda salon in the Montlake neighborhood. Yes, the Aveda products are the best, but I would follow Dirk anywhere, he has my loyalty for life. He is a highly skilled, charming and compassionate stylist who confidently works his magic until I walk out the door a transformed woman. I feel ready to face the world again after an appointment with Dirk. Glam & Tonic is easy to get to from almost anywhere in Seattle and if you get an end of the day appointment, you can waltz your loveliness into Café Lago afterwards for drinks or dinner — nice.

Glam & Tonics is the essence of a neighborhood Aveda salon, keeping in line with the minimal footprint ideology of Aveda. I much prefer the smaller, off the beaten path environment to that of the busy mega-​salons Seattle is so well known for. I took the bus directly from Capitol Hill to their front door. The three staff members were friendly, I felt like I had been coming in for years.
Juan, the stylist I booked online through their website, evaluated the length of my hair and came to the conclusion that «cleaning it up» would leave me with the length I desired. He was very knowledgeable in the Aveda line and the aroma of the salon was everything I remember and love the brand for.
He trimmed up my side burns and hair line after we both agreed the length was a plus. The end result was a very satisfied customer and a bit more cash in my wallet. Thanks so much for keeping my hair manageable! It is always such a gamble when you try a new place.
