Hair By Summer

Summer is such a wonderful person. So, it’s hard for me to write this review, but the right thing to do. The first 2 haircuts I received from Summer were gorgeous and exactly what she and I talked about. The 3^rd haircut had some problems… places where different parts of the hair did not blend in with each other. Heather fixed the problems, and I enjoyed my Maui vacation. This 4^th haircut by Summer is one of the worst haircuts and colors that I have ever received. The reason I am writing this review is because I reached out to Summer several times and have not heard back from her.
Summer and I agreed that keeping my short haircut on the longer side was a look that worked best for me, yet in this haircut, she cut it really short like a boy haircut. I have shed some tears over this haircut and have even cancelled dates! There are these big patches all over where the hair is not blended. It looks awful!
The color has damaged my hair.
Summer, you are such a great lady! We all have our bad days! As a hairstylist, when you mess up, just apologize and make it right! How my hair looks like with most women has a huge impact on my overall confidence.

Hands down, the BEST haircut I’ve had in a very long time! Summer is amazing! If you have a chance to be styled by this talented lady, you won’t be disappointed.

Summer was incredibly helpful to me when my dad died and I had to leave town suddenly for his memorial service. My usual stylist had become more unavailable (over a month out now, ouch) and I was badly in need of a haircut and color. Summer stayed at work late to get me that cut (and I discovered later she’d emailed me and offered to change her schedule around to fit in the color… I’m so sorry I didn’t get that email until later!)
Summer was very patient and kind, and gave me a terrific haircut. A friend who’s watched my hair evolution over the past several years commented that this was best cut she’d seen on me so far.

Summer did an amazing job on my hair. Methodically and skillfully she colored my hair in a way I did not know possible; giving me highlights to brighten and excite my whole head. She also gave me a bang trim for free, helping me with what has been a challenging transition from the bang-​less to banged. The volume and exuberance of the compliment my hairs are receiving is unprecedented in my 34 years! As a human working so close and for so long she is also a pleasure! As are the amenities of the salon where Hair By Summer happens.

I was a little hesitant to get my hair cut short, but I was glad I came to Summer to get the job done! She listens and understands on what you want, and gives her opinion without ever making you feel put down or intruded. She is really friendly and fun to chat with.
Summer is the master of hair. She puts in a lot of attention and detail into getting the right color and type of cut for my face shape and hair texture. I never even knew that it’s better to part your hair a certain way depending on the symmetry of your face! Not only that, she picked a really nice color that complemented my complexion, even though it was a little different than what I showed her in the picture. I trusted her skills and judgment throughout the whole time without ever feeling nervous, and I was super relaxed and comfortable.
My hair transformed from long and drabby to posh and sophisticated within a few hours. With my new ‘do, I’ve been getting compliments left and right. Thank you Summer for my new hair for the new year!

I’ve been going to Summer for about a year now. When I first started with Summer my hair was severely damaged from other colorists that I had been going to. I was almost embarrassed to have anyone try to fix my hair.
A year later, my hair is the healthiest it’s ever been. People always comment about how great my color/​cut is and what do I use to keep it so healthy. I always tell them that it’s not what I use, but the products and technique my colorist uses that keeps my blonde locks (which are naturally brown) looking shiny and amazing.
If you’re new in the area or have a current colorist that is simply damaging your hair, I highly suggest Summer. Very talented and genuine.

I’ve been having a tough time communicating to Summer the hairstyle that I want. I feel like it comes out more frumpy than my stylist in my last city. Also, I put my finger on another big issue — when I leave the salon and see my hair in the next mirror, I don’t feel like it got styled by an expert. My last stylist would also suggest a couple different ways to style my cut before leaving their chair, but Summer didn’t ask and I got styled the same way both times. It’s tough writing this review, because her cuts are technically accurate, just boring versions of what I really wanted, and I like her personality. I’m not sure what I’ll do for my next cut. Regardless, I think Summer is excellent at classic versions of styles.

I will have to say Summer is the best stylist in Seattle. She was very meticulous with my corrective color– not easy. I get compliments on my haircut and color at least once a week. So nice to know that I have Summer to create a style that is all my own and fits my personality. I very unique find! Thanks!

Love Summer. I had the best experience and got the best cut I have ever had, she takes the time to talk to you, find out what you want and explain why some cuts work better and why. On top of it she is as cool as it gets and has a rock star style… So thrilled to have found her !!! I would recommend her to anyone !!

Summer is a dynamic stylist that posesses a combination of qualities not often found. She can zero in on what look you’re going for, if you have specific tastes, but she can also create a perfect style based on your skin tone, frame and personal style.

About 3+ years ago I sat down in Summer’s chair for a consultation. My mixed-​girl curly hair had not been cut for about 4 years after someone who didn’t know how to cut my hair totally screwed it up! It was in such poor condition, the ends were awful… so, so bad. Summer Potter to the rescue! Those first few hair cut appointments were damage control and though significant length was cut off, my hair got healthier and healthier! Now my curly hair is healthy, long and fabulous all thanks to Ms. Summer and I won’t ever let anyone near my hair with shears except her!

Summer has done my hair for about two year. What I really appreciate is that when I come in with an idea about my hair she finds a way to adapt that into a style/​color that will work for my skin tone, face, etc. Her cuts are amazing, and continue to look amazing when they grow out (sometimes I can’t come in again for another six months). I recommend her!
