Based on the reviews i read, i decided to check the place out for myself, first of all let’s get this clear, there’s nothing gay about that «beach» I’m not sure if I can refer to it as a beach. it’s a small space that borders on lake Washington and the people I saw ranged from men and women, men and men and some kids. I wonder why a reviewer referred to it as a «gay» beach because he probably saw two guys together what about the «heterosexual «couples. It’s just people who’re comfortable with being naked without offending anyone period! If you take your kid to the locker room after a swim you don’t mind other naked people around right? Let’s get real and stop labeling and stereotyping.

A nude gay beach is all anyone really needs to get through a beautiful summer in Seattle. A gorgeous, slope-​hillside amid forested private property, Howell will be your perfect getaway.
Given the location, the hill starts to be covered in shade around 430 to 5 pm so account for that! The water, on a clear day, gives a perfect view of downtown Bellevue and Mt. Rainier (picturesque to say the least).
Given how hot and dry it’s been, the grass will soon start turning brown and prickley, so bring a towel or blanket to lounge on. Other things you might wanna bring: a few friends, some sunscreen, and food/​water (there aren’t too many facilities nearby).
Leave your modesty at home and soak up the sun at Howell.
P.S.
While nudity seems to be optional at Howell, a healthy 80% of patrons were nude at the multiple times I’ve been.

A neighborhood family-​friendly nude optional beach. Only in Seattle would this exist in a really rich neighborhood. It’s small and pretty shaded, and the direct sunlight disappears after 1 or so. It seems like it’s visited by all kinds of people, young and old, queer and straight, white people and people of color. It’s really not a cruisy spot, and I’ve never heard complaints of people feeling creeped out by unwanted leers. Not that it’s impossible. No food anywhere near, so bring water and snacks.

I love this place! I visit at least once a week usually. It’s typically probably a 60⁄40 male/​female ratio, with people of all ages. It’s a mix of couples, groups of friends, and people who just come swim or sunbathe by themselves. It’s a great spot to relax and be natural while you’re surrounded by the city. Plus the views of the lake, the mountains, and the Eastside can’t be beat.

This is a great beach! It’s so nice to have a clothing optional beach right here in the city. It’s a good mix of older and younger and while our one experience proved it to be mostly male, there was no sexual or «predatory» vibe and I would feel very comfortable inviting my female friends.
The beach is fairly small but the swimming area goes out quite a ways. It’s also private enough to not feel nervous about bringing a beer to balance out your afternoon.
So glad we found this place!

This is not family safe as it is a popular nude beach. I went there today looking to see if I could see some female breast basking in the sun and it was a sausage fest. Nothing but a bunch of dudes laying around showing everybody their dicks.
