An experience of true indulgence, the Swinery Burger with pork belly will have you entranced from the first bite. Pork belly by itself is like Disneyland for the tasting senses. Throw in a golden brioche bun, hand formed burger patty, cheddar cheese, pickle, tomato and greens and one has a feast. I feasted today. I indulged. I am satiated.

The sandwich special of the day was the Ribeye Steak Sandwich and the only word I can describe it is GORGELICIOUS! I had mine with the Blue Cheese and my friend had it with the Red Pepper aioli. Both were amazing and make sure you get them medium rare to rare. I’ve had just about all offerings on the board and I’ve never left disappointed or hungry. If you get a chance to have chef’s meatball sub, take it! I thought I was in NYC again in Little Italy.

We checked out The Swinery because we saw the mention in Seattle Met. We had some trouble finding it at first but well worth it. Great burgers and the fries were incredible too!!! Garlicly, crisp and abundant! The pepper bacon on my burger was fresh and tasty. Nice fresh veggies. Fat juicy burger. Can’t wait to go back and try another item!

I am always on the prowl for good meat, burgers, pork, bacon anything pig related or beef related basically. So, having read the article in the SeattleMet on Cheap eats around Seattle and learning that this place is in my neighborhood, West Seattle I had to give it a try. To say it is the inner sanctum of porcine love doesn’t do this place justice. When you walk into this tiny little space off of the corner of 3200 California Ave you first notice the smell of fresh meats wafting through the air that go beyond the pig. The next thing you come in to contact with is the glass cases of freshly butchered meats… pretty much anything you want. The menu which almost seems like a secondary part of the business or maybe a passion project includes hamburgers, pulled pork sandwiches, ham and cheese, and an Italian grinder. I ordered the pepper bacon and bleu cheese burger. The meat was the real highlight. The hamburger meat which I got medium well was cooked perfectly. The bacon was fresh and crispy and the bleu cheese and caramelized onions gave the whole thing a fantastic texture that really allowed you to savor every ingredient. To summarize, this place is all about giving you a good product. It’s a place with limited patio seating. mainly just some benches and chairs outside and indoor seating is just a bar with some stools. The staff were super friendly, charming and helpful with no pretension. I cannot wait to go back and try the other fantastic looking ingredients on the menu.

Well I can finally and safely say I’ve found a decent burger place in Seattle! I searched far and wide for this one so my opinion should definitely be valued! The set up inside the shop has a ton of tasty looking cured meats that I didn’t buy although I did pick up a package of chorizo and will let everyone know how that goes. They also had raw cuts of beef, pork, and lamb that all looked amazing and various pates as well. The shop is clean and cute, and in an adorable old building. The courtyard is where the food action truly goes down though, and they have a grill set up with some condiments and stuff nearby. They also have a deep sink to help wash up because you can definitely get messy! Also near the sink are recycable plastic cups so you can pour yourself some water as well. I ordered a swinery burger and it was hella awesome! The buns are interesting and very tasty. They had carmalized onion as well as fresh that they added to the burger and instead of just plain iceberg lettuce, it was more of a spring greens mix with some spinach, red lettuce, and some other green. Extremely tasty! The burger was super fresh and I seriously can not go on enough about it. The fries were also amazing. The only reason I’m giving the place four instead of five stars is that it’s a LITTLE pricey, but pretty comparable with other grass fed/sustainable farm prices. The burger was like seven bucks, but you are definitely getting what you pay for. Also, like others have said, the courtyard has benches but not really much seating, which is no fault of the shop, just be aware that it’s not a place to come with a huge group of people and sit down at. Still, bring your friends by because this is hands down the best burger in West Seattle.

Best hamburger I’ve eaten in a long time. I ordered the hamburger, adding the pork belly and blue cheese which made this burger cause me to almost swoon over each bite. This will be the burger to judge everything else for a long time; well worth the trip to West Seattle. We also ordered one of their bacon dogs, which I was less impressed with. Too salty and none of the expected bacon flavor.

I bought a few different cured meats and also had lunch in the courtyard. The cured meats were all good and seem to contain a lot less salt then the standard lunch counter Jenny-o type of brands. The spicy capicola was the standout. Could have used a little more spice, imo, but the texture and fat content was perfect. The roasted duck terrine was really good on crackers. Next time I’ll get a little more creative and buy some more. The little slab I bought was devoured before I could get tricky with it. In the courtyard, I had a braised pork belly sandwich that was a daily special. It was damn good, really sloppy(in a good way) and the price was right. My friend had the burger and said it was great. I sort of regretted not getting it. The food is priced right and you can feel good about supporting a shop that has such respect for the animals they use. The courtyard is definitely rustic, there are no tables. Just some huge slab wood bench’s that could probably support a hundred sumos. Once the weather warms up I’ll be out there more frequently. I have yet to buy and raw meat but it all looks great.

Had the«Swinery Burger» here the other day and slapped on the«Swinery Bacon» and«Skillet Jam.» …OH. …MY. …GAWD!!! It was pure bliss! The best burger I have *ever eaten*… and I suppose it doesn’t hurt that the little courtyard area is run by a sustainable butcher shop that probably made my hamburger moments before… Definitely worth the trip over to West Seattle to enjoy this little gem. (The folks I was with were equally impressed — one ordered the salad which was topped with pecans and fresh bleu cheese and her dad ordered the Ksand — a pulled pork sandwich that was so big the bun wouldn’t have been able to hold anymore… I will be back for sure!
