As new homeowners, one of our priorities was dealing with the rats in our attic. We hired Integrated Cleaning Solutions in August. I’ve copied and pasted below from an email with Ray Williams, the manager, outlining the service he was giving an estimate for: «Attic Cleanout 1. Remove existing feces contaminated cellulose debris(roofing shingles) . 2. Vacuum droppings and blown in insulation. 3. Sanitize all areas. 4. Inspect for and seal access points as needed. 5. Dispose of all waste material» =$ 950 After the team was«done» I went up to check on things, and found a ton of rat poop had been left behind. They were quick to come out and cleaned up again, but at this point, I hadn’t paid them yet. I made the mistake of paying them after this second trip out before inspecting the work again. A week later, we heard rats scurrying around in our attic. I placed a call to Ray, expecting the same sort of rapid response he had earlier from estimate through second clean-up. Two weeks of calling nearly everyday, and emailing, I finally caught him on the phone. He had been on «vacation.» He offered to come out and take a look. When he came out to look, he told us that in order to block all the holes, he’d have to remove the gutters, fill the holes, and replace the gutters. Another $ 1,000 of work. Not once did he get up on a ladder and look. He strongly recommended that we not replace the instillation in our attic until the rat problem was dealt with. He set three traps(in a 1,000 sq foot attic) and left. That was the last we’ve heard from him. Upon closer inspection ourselves(crawling into the harder-to-access-points of the attic) we found that there were a number of areas, not easily visible, that had not been cleaned ATALL. There is still insulation and a TON of rat poop. We also found an incredibly obvious HOLE that we could see both from inside the attic and outside on a ladder next to the gutters. The hole is complete with gnaw marks. It had not been filled, a service included in the estimate. After using flashlights around the perimeter, we found no other holes that even a beam of light could fit through. It has been almost five months of calling, leaving voice mails, reaching out via email, and NOTONE of them has been returned. We have been living in this house without any insulation in the attic, through the winter. My mom always encouraged us kids to give everyone a chance to make things right. Ray and his team have had ample time to make this right, and have not. They did a sub-par job, and we are paying for it with 1) a continued rat problem 2) sky-high heating bills 3) unsanitary living conditions.
