Interlake Child Care & Learning Center

Interlake is a diamond in the rough! Once you get past the main «Hobbit door» entrance of this one-​time home, you’ll find a dedicated staff, a program that promotes social-​emotional development and a play-​based curriculum, and the best child care food program in the city. Both of our kids started there as wee infants, and they prospered and grew from their time being a part of the community. Our oldest impressed his kindergarten teacher with his emotional maturity and compassion as well as his readiness for the three R’s; our youngest has developed dear friendships and a fertile imagination filled with wild cats! I can’t recommend this child care center enough (an we toured many)! They helped us navigate being new parents seven years ago and they fostered creativity and caring in our children, for which we shall be forever grateful.

My toddler thrives at Interlake. He has learned sign language, the good habits putting away toys and dishes and washing hands, how to be empathetic to his friends and how to share. Care provider turnover is low too, relative to other care centers. The Center has a cozy, homey feel, and I am so grateful for the excellent, safe care he receives every day. When I ask my child if he wants to go to daycare, he points out the window and says, «That.» That pretty much sums it up for me.

Wonderful staff that care about the children like they are their own. My son has been there 4 years and he has flourished with his friends and teachers.

Our child has been at Interlake for two years, and it has been an amazing experience. The teachers work hard to develop self-​help skills, learning, fun, love and play into a day that is packed with experiences. Staff is always open to talking with parents and helping us learn about developmental milestones, to brainstorm ways to approach different phases that may be difficult at home, and they truly, honestly, love these kids.
The community of parents, teachers, staff and children is a gift to my family. We do not have relatives that live close by, but feel like our only child has a rich social experience with his school family. I can’t imagine our lives without Interlake as a part of it, and will be sad when our son graduates into kindergarten down the road.

I love Interlake! I was an active parent at Interlake from 2005 until 2012. The teachers and staff have a high standard of care and compassion for the children. They build strong relationships with families to create a true community. My children learned important social skills during their years at Interlake and I learned how to be a more compassionate parent.

Poor facilities and unsafe conditions, high staff turnover, and very little «learning» or education in the curriculum. I think this once was a gem, but not any longer. There are many better options in Seattle.
