Had a horrible experience last night while trying to have a dinner for a party of 6 just before we were going to drop off a bunch of toys and a check at Seattle Children’s Hospital. We had planned to have a dinner at 5:30 and a friend showed up at 5 and asked if we could have a table for 6 and they said Not until the party arrived, which we understood. I arrived at 5:30 and received multiple texts that traffic was bad in all directions and that half of our party was going to be late. By 6 o’clock we asked if we could be seated and start some appetizers and they refused due to it was their rules. The restaurant was at 20% capacity at best 80% of the tables were open with nobody waiting at all. I asked to see the manager and he was even worse. We then went to the pizzeria next door which was at 100% capacity and the service was awesome the food was amazing and we will never go to Jak’s again as we had been doing over the last 5 years for each charity event that we do for Seattle Children’s.

Ribeye and potato pancakes are amazing. Great wine selection. Not cheap but great value for what you get. I always come here when in Seattle.

Jak’s Grill is a very nice establishment the food was decent, there wasn’t anything really worth getting excited about, it lacked flavor in my particular dish… all the food my party received looked amazing maybe it was just my entrée that lacked flavor. I don’t want to take too much away from this restaurant the staff was incredible and very friendly, it just wasn’t a good first impression for me.

Great steak restaurant near Children’s Hospital in Seattle. Steak quality was as good or better as I have had in more expensive restaurants and my server, Carrie, was best in class. If you’re looking for a wedge salad, ribeye and baked potato as I was, along with a well made cocktail, then Jak’s should be on your to-try list. If you need a break from seeing someone at the hospital, then this is a close by oasis of comfort. Highly recommend Jak’s.

The NY Steak Sandwich at Jak’s Grill is hands down the best steak sandwich in this town when it comes to these high end steak restaurants. I have only come here for lunch so I cannot comment on their dinner steaks. This sandwich consistently over delivers for me from a taste standpoint, the temperature is always as ordered, and the quality of meat is unbeatable. It is a NY strip steak. The dish is served with Au jus and thin cut French fries. All of my favorite things. The service is always exceptional at Jak’s much like other high end places like John Howie or El Gaucho, these are professional waitstaff and they do a great job. I have been here dozens of times for this sandwich including today and my experience is always 5 star. This is a true 5 star rating here folks.

Typically 4– or even 5-star food, but I’ve had a poor steak(can happen anywhere) and service can be inattentive even when not busy. Portions are large so avoid eating the large salad or you won’t have room for the dinner you’ve ordered.

First time having brunch at Jaks. Came in at noon and there wasn’t a wait. Restaurant is dark and blinds were still closed. $ 5 mimosas and bloody Mary’s. Chicken fried steak is good, but too thick on the batter. I opted for a side of a side of fruit in stead of the Jak’s potatoes for $ 1. It also came with a side. of eggs made your way. Fruit wasn’t the freshest. Steak and eggs. Eggs and potatoes were tasty, but the steak was way overcooked. Jak’s Benedict was good. Instead of the usual English muffin bottom, it’s replaced with potatoes pancakes. Hollandaise sauce is thick and rich. Service was friendly.

This place has a policy all parties needs to be present in order for you to be sat. Which is fine we just waited for the other party to park the car. The hostess was nice she was going to sit us at a table and we requested a booth. She lead us to the booth as requested. I think the server at the table would have been better. We had someone that just didn’t give much attention to us until the very end when we were done with our meal. She wasn’t around most of the time. The server before was a male and he was really attentive and good. Whitney was our server I only know the name because insane it on the check. Okay enough about the service. The prime rib was yummy and the rib eye was even better. It was tender but I am not sure if I like the horseradish on top. The string beans were average kind of on the raw side and not much flavor. The garlic mash potatoes were pretty good, I think it was red potatoes. The steak salad looked pretty good. The hamburger was pretty thick and yummy. The side salads were just lettuce and dressing no croutons. Oh but the sour dough bread was yummy and freshly made it was still hot. Prices are decent for a steak house some it comes with sides. The place inside reminded me of a outback steak house.

If I could give this restaurant a negative 5 stars I would. In meeting a colleague for a quick bite and drinks — the restaurant hostess and then the restaurant manager REFUSED to seat me because the other person was not here with me. I fully respect that — however, I explained calmly and repeatedly that I would like to order food for myself and if I was a party of one — that would they seat me? Anyway — round and round — horrible customer service and rude at the front desk. Table service was fine. Food and drinks were good. Will I go back? No. Do I recommend this place? No — unless you prefer bad customer service. I go out quite a bit — I am certainly understanding and do not write negative reviews when there appears to be a one off experience. This unfortunately made me want to bother to write anything. No need for a response or reach out — I won’t be back to any of your locations or recommend Jak’s to anyone. Beyond disappointing.

We have been to Jaks several times and often have good experiences. This one was less good, but the rating reflects our collective experiences. We both usually have the ribeye and potato pancakes. The meals start with a salad, which is usually kind of disappointing, mainly just lettuce. The main dish is the steak, some steamed veggies, and the potato pancakes. The pancakes are always outstanding, perhaps the best I have ever had. The steamed veggies are also often good. We just had green beans and carrots this tiem, but often super fresh broccoli. The steaks are usually outstanding and often cooked just right. Tonight the steaks were a little gristlley, but we hope it is just a bad night. Usually this is very good value – big reason there are usually big crowds. We did not have tonight, but bread pudding is also excellent.

Came for lunch and ordered he French onion soup — the chophouse sandwich with salad — and the French onion soup. The soup was very good — great flavor and very hot ! Loved it. The sandwich was huge and had a large meat patty kind of like a the old fashioned patty melt. My husband thought it was good. It was 12 ounces! !Not exactly on the budget side– but the food was high in quality so justified. The service was good– the facility was very clean /the place wasn’t very busy when we went. I would give them another go when we are back in town.

Great place to have a steak dinner, hands down! Spent a lovely evening celebrating a friends birthday and each time is always super amazing. The service is extraordinary and I am pleased that they offer fresh ground pepper for your salads. My only caveat is if you have a large group, there are no reservations so you can just hang out at the bar to reserve some spots once they open. I have yet to see a lot of locations in Washington State offer a good Beef Wellington dish, this one sure does. If you’re in the area, stop in and see what I’m talking about, it’s worth it to treat yourself out to a good steak meal every-now-and-then.

A 20-oz Bone-in Ribeye Dianne Steak was a beefy bonanza of flavor thanks to a juicy sauce and mound of mushrooms; however, I don’t recommend this version of your grandparent’s favorite steak. Jak’s Grill is a steak house, so, I expected a decent $ 40 steak. Despite noticeable effort to tenderize the Ribeye Dianne, the meat was served tough and chewy with at least 2 bites I just gave up on. Jak’s earns 3 stars based on feedback from my table mates on their meals and some friendly service. They enjoyed the $ 30 Panko Parmesan Halibut and a Jak’s Cheeseburger with Sautéed Mushrooms($ 16) which had me jealous. My side salad with real Blue Cheese was a nice starter, but hardly worth going out of your way for at all. If you are in this part of Seattle near UW, Jak’s Grill is a dinner option. It isn’t cheap and steer clear of the steak. The vibe is classic and if your date is into that, then Jak’s Grill may be all you need for a satisfying date.

Came to Jak’s Grill for brunch. Service was stellar and there was easy free parking in the area. The food was only OK; the sausage gravy desperately needed more meat and spice and the smoked salmon benedict is made with thick dry smoked salmon instead of thin lox-style smoked salmon. I would still give their dinner service a try!

First time coming to Jak’s Grill after my friend’s recommendation. Great steak, portions and overall price! All dinner entrees come with a house salad with your choice of dressing and a side dish(baked potato, fries, or potato pancakes). I decided to try the potato pancakes and they were delicious! They reminded me of tasty hash browns. I ordered the petite filet mignon cooked medium and it came out perfectly, very moist and pink in the middle. We ordered a side of their mushrooms since my friend kept raving about them and they were seriously amazing! Not sure what they put in it. Garlic and spices? Whatever it is, it’s really good. I would highly recommend it. With the salad and mushrooms to share, I wasn’t able to finish my steak or potato pancake so it was nice to take home and eat for lunch/snack the next day. The only thing we weren’t too happy with was the«side of local veggies» which was basically just a few thinly sliced carrots and a couple large pieces of unseasoned broccoli. It looked very unappealing to eat and looked more like garnish than actual veggies to eat. I wish they sautéed them or grilled them or something to make it look and taste better.

While we were not Sleepless in Seattle, one of my friends asked if it’s ok if we would be down to try out a restaurant of her choice. But of course! why not? Apparently she knew someone who worked there. (Big shouts out to Dennis for speaking to his staff that we were on our way.) Any hoot, FYI this well known establishment is known for their Steaks. Arrived and greeted right away to a very nice hostess who mentioned yes your name is on the list! A classic dark-wood, mostly booths with low-light interior still has a bit of the West. Moving forward ever hear the expression that «One’s eyes are bigger than stomach» So overwhelming with lots of good choices. Starters: Fresh bread Lobster Mac& Cheese: lobster came in abundance. There is lobster taste in every bite, leaving you in gluttony. AMAZING!!! Everyone ordered the smokey marinade, richly marbled, boneless Ribeye served with salad and a choice of baked potato or fries or they ordered the most tender cut aged to perfection the Filet mignon. Both were cooked perfectly to order and were melt-in-your-mouth tender. Me on the other hand, wasn’t in the mood for meat so I chose from the Sea: Crab stuffed Halibut-filled with dungeness crab, celery, onion, dusted with panko bread and oven roasted, finished with a champagne buerre blanc. Prepared properly with robust flavors. The combination of the thick, creamy crab and the light and butter-like halibut complimented each other wonderfully. Overall we had a delicious meal with great service! Thanks Jak’s & Dennis

Not the best steakhouse around, but not the worst either. Post-hike, a friend and I had a hankering for steak and potatoes to replenish all the calories we burned trekking thru the wilderness. Given we were starving and still wearing our grubbies, it wasn’t like we could roll into the Met or Daniel’s, but Jak’s seemed like a reasonably casual choice. We were seated immediately, and promptly ordered glasses of wine, while we perused the menu. Let it be noted that I love steak establishments where complete dinners are an option. This was definitely a selling point when deciding to dine here. All steaks come with bread, salad, veggies, and your choice of potato. Both of us went with petite cuts which were cooked perfectly(medium rare & medium well), but bland and under-seasoned. So much so that we had to ask for steak sauce. There’s nothing worse than an under-seasoned steak, especially at an establishment that bills itself as a steakhouse! TL;DR Good calorie replenishment, but under-seasoned food.

Jak’s Grill is a fancy cowboy restaurant. Big portions, butter in almost everything, and not a healthy option on the menu(without making serious adjustments). The wine was great, the server was extremely attentive, but my actual steak(while huge) was very chewy and was not a quality cut at all. I think this place specializes in fatty, hearty, comfort foods. Their complimentary bread(sourdough yes please!) and potatoes(try the UFO!) are especially well done but quite frankly I’m not very impressed by restaurants where the flavors depend on large portions and butter.
