Both Unilocal, and the sign on the door, said they open at 11am. I waited 10 minutes, door still locked and open sign not on so gave up and went to nearby ethiopian.

After accidentally going to the wrong place because I can’t read signs but be careful lots of Ethiopian places in this area literally not far from one another !!! Anyways the food is really good and I love that after I explained I went to the wrong place and the ladies there grabbed me and yelled at me trying to force me to order food when I’m guessing they got my phone order but never made it then realizing I’m at the wrong place I show up here the right place that she my order ready to go and she felt bad so gave me a taste of some Ethiopian wine bc she felt bad that it had happened lol Pretty spicy but so good and the wine is sweet but still delicious good balance when someone who can’t handle spicy needs something sweet to handle the good food lol

My favorite place to eat in Seattle! Affordable, and so delicious! I come here almost every week with my husband, and we are treated so lovely. Always a wonderful experience! Go here and enjoy a wonderful Ethiopian meal! You won’t regret it!

I really love the food at this place. I’ve only been here a few times at the recommendations of friends but have enjoyed all my experiences. I don’t get enough Ethiopian food in my life and always find this to be a special treat. Parking can be tight and the door is a little tricky but everything else is fabulous. I’ve only had the vegetarian combo. I really like the salad and the spinach parts. I am thankful the lentils are not too spicy. My friends enjoy the meat combo. I love the injera here. I appreciate that they bring you more when you run out. Seems they also have gluten free injera available here with advance notice. They even serve breakfast, I hope to try this sometime. This place is always crowded.

A Taste sensation! My first time for eating Ethiopian food. It reminds me of how they eat And serve Indian Dosa. Finger food served on a lentil based pancake. Yummy. Make sure you love spices, for each different bite has a taste of spices! The owner is the editor, and he is very griendly and attentive just enough. Quick service with warm, freshly home-made food! The bathroom is clean too.

The was my other favorite place for Ethiopian food! Their meat combo is amazing and they have a cute little family store stocked with spices, tea & coffee sets, green coffee beans and all kinds of other goodies! And the female owner(I’m assuming) is the one of the sweetest ladies I’ve ever met! Actually, it’s been my personal experience that the Ethiopian culture have some of the most personable and kindest people one will ever encounter! They have service & hospitality down to an art form! I really miss this little café and plan on returning to satisfy my craving soon! Clean and some of the best service around! This place really cant be beat!

Delicious! I’ve been here at least five times since I found it last month. Get the meat combo #2! Way better than the other Ethiopian place across the street.

Seattle is a city blessed with many options for amazingly tasty Ethiopian food. If you haven’t tried it, you are missing out. Avoid the FOMO, my friends, these platters covered flavorful veggies and meats arranged on injera(sour, soft bread) are meant to be shared and eaten with your hands, making Ethiopian a unique and delicious type of cuisine that is a must-try. Although I’ve only tried it once so far, Jebena is a really solid option to try Ethiopian and I highly recommend it. We ordered the meat combination #2, and it came with a nice variety of vegetables, salad, and several different meat dishes. You’re also given an individual plate of injera as well. I thought all of the food was spot on in terms of portion size and flavor. After craving Ethiopian in my time away from Seattle, Jebena really hit the spot. Service here was very friendly as well. The restaurant was packed when we went on a Friday night, so it seems this is a local favorite for good reason. Try it out!

Fresh, flavorful food prepared with love by generous, beautiful souls who love food and love to make you happy. One of the best deals in town with some of the best quality meals anywhere(not just in the Ethiopian category, but in any genre). If you go here, get to know the owners. They are such wonderful people and have a remarkable story. Talk to them about the food and how they prepare it — they have a lot of pride in what they make, as they should. If you have allergies they will accommodate, even making gluten free injera if you ask 24 hours in advance. My son has multiple allergies and Marta always makes sure to give him a delicious, safe meal, confirming every detail with us. Go back for brunch on the weekend and plan to stick around for the coffee-making ritual. Try the house-roasted coffee as you enjoy a warm bowl of foul(fava beans). This is a special place. I am so glad it is in my neighborhood. I frequent with my family as often as I can. I hope you find it to be as beautiful a place as we do.

Wow! Just … Wow! Ethiopian food at it’s finest. The service we received from Martha was top notch. My boyfriend and I both mentioned how friggin sweet she is! She was always smiling and was very accommodating. We both wanted a good amount of food and I wanted some leftovers so we ordered combination plates. He ordered the meat combination #2 and I ordered the vegetarian combination. We saw a previous review that had house made hot sauce so we needed to try a bit ourselves. It was spicy but flavorful and went well with everything on our plates. I really loved the red and yellow lentils but the red lentils, in particular, were my favorite. They paired very well with the house made hot sauce. My boyfriend said that the tips were his favorite, especially with the hot sauce. My boyfriend gave his dish 8⁄10 and I gave mine a 9⁄10. For $ 15, you can’t beat a dish this big! We took leftovers home but the injera is just not going to be that great as it gets soggy quick. The injera was spongy and had a flavor similar to sourdough. So delicious!!! I felt super relaxed in the small-ish restaurant with mellow music and friendly employees. I can’t wait to come back!

Oooo-ey! We all loved Jebena — and one of us(my daughter) lived in Ethiopia for over two years, and knows the cuisine well. We were so excited that traditional breakfast options were available that we forgot to ask if the firfir we ordered had meat in it. The lovely owner gave us a new, vegetarian firfir order at no charge, though a meat eater in our group had volunteered, happily, to take the meat dish on. We all found it to be the best Ethiopian food we’d ever had. And the owner is a dream!

Holy injera! This is by far the best Ethiopian food I’ve ever had. Out of the seven or eight places I’ve had veggie combo plates, injera, and buna, this one gets them all right. The buna is done right, and doesn’t clot up at the bottom of your cup. The injera is sour and that’s what makes it the best. Heaping portions on the combo plate and single meals, both. Friendly, wonderful owners, as I have come to find pretty common in these places. Oh, and the honey wine! No complaints at all. I love it and will keep returning.

My first time trying Ethiopian food! Let’s just say, I enjoyed my first experience. The restaurant is kind of hidden in Lake City but with Google Maps, nothing is impossible nowadays. Clean, modern interior with friendly service. We got the Jebena Combo($ 18.50) that fed 4 people! So cheap. Food was good! Injera was interesting. It’s kind of like spongy sour dough pita that you wrap all your food in. It was also my first time eating without silverware. Interesting experience… but YAGOWITHTHEFLOWYAKNOW? Haha. Turns out I actually enjoy eating with my hands. The service was lovely. I’d definitely come back.

Perfect injera! I love this Ethiopian place. It is quaint and the waiters are so friendly. The injera(bread) wasn’t as sour as most places I’ve eaten and I really appreciated that. The food had a bit of a kick to it but it was tolerable. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. I got the meat and veggie plates for 5 people and then came back and got the combo for two people(but had to take half of it home). Plenty of food to go around.

Hidden away amongst a Laundromat and other little stores, this place is sort of a hole in a wall. It’s not a huge restaurant but it’s small, cozy and intimate for small groups of friends, dates, and families to eat at. If you haven’t eaten Ethiopian food before, this is a great place to try it. First of all, I have never tried Ethiopian food… So looking at the menu was a bit overwhelming when I couldn’t pronounce half the words or know what the food item was. Thanks to the yummy pictures from Unilocal and the recommendations from the wait staff, my friend and I decided to split an order of meat combo #2, Ethiopian style latte and an appetizer. Man…if one needs a nice kick in a latte, I highly recommend trying an Ethiopian style latte. The aroma of the drink is sweet and texture of the latte is strong and flavorful. You don’t taste too much of the milk but you can definitely taste the yummy coffee beans and such. As for the appetizer, this was a pretty unique dish! Chewy with a slight crunch, this appetizer was light and delicious. At first bite, the taste may seem bland but wow, the aftertaste has a nice light spicy zing to it. Word of caution, don’t let the small portions you see on the combo platter fool you! My friend and I couldn’t finish the entire thing. The meal in itself, was very rich and filling. The lamb and pork = absolute deliciousness. Tender, savory, and moist, the meat itself could make one drool over it. Combo in with the lentil and other veggie sides and boom, you have one solid meal with everything in it. For this dish, no utensils are provided. Instead, you would use this pancake sponge like feel wrap to scoop the food up and eat! The wrap itself is soft and squishy, which makes it easy to scoop food into it and such. Overall, I love this place. Super friendly staff, warm atmosphere, and parking wasn’t too bad at all. Got a growling tummy? Get your appetite sated here. Definitely will come back to try other dishes soon =]

Jebena Café was my first Ethiopian meal, and I was so hooked that I came back the next week. Seriously, it’s that good! Between a friend and I, we split the Meat Combo 1 which comes with plenty of meat and veggie options for 2. They’re very generous with the injera here and keep it coming. According to a friend, apparently the injera here isn’t as sour as other Ethiopian places, so something to keep in mind. The combos are just a great deal in general, I believe it was $ 13 – 14 total for both of us, which is an absolute steal! The staff is also super sweet and quick!

We came here on a friday afternoon. The place was not busy at all. We first got greeted by two employes and told to sit anywhere we liked. After looking at their great menu, we decided to order Fir Fir and Vegetarian Combination. These are two different meals but we asked to have them on one plate(as shown in the picture, the Fir Fir is in the middle). The Fir Fir is consisted of Injera pieces with salsa and beef. It tasted amazing with a little spicy flavor. The Fir Fir is one of the best Ethiopian food I ever had. The Vegetarian Combination came with shiro wot, cabbage, yellow lentil, spinach, and salad. The spinach and the salad didnt have the best taste but everything else tasted great. With good food and a great service, i would recommend this place.

This is definitely the best Ethiopian food I’ve had. Husband and I got the veggie platter and the two of us couldn’t finish it. I was surprised to see that it cost only 12 and besides the injera it was served on we both got our own serving of it. The food/flavor was good. This injera was less sour than I’ve had in the past, I liked it better this way. Service was very quick. We were expecting a long wait based on reviews. We got our food in about 10 minutes. Service was good and friendly. For quality, cost, and service, I would recommend this place.
