After I sold my house in Columbia City, I wanted an apartment on Capitol Hill that would make no demands of me (unlike said sold house)
The location is walking distance to Riley dog’s favorites places! Volunteer Park and Cal Anderson Park. In fact, it’s a very pet friendly building. It’s great that there’s a small park across the street for potty breaks! I would say for the most part the dogs here are quiet and well behaved, but when I left there was a recent tenant who’s yappy dog never shut up. Felt sorry for the neighbors close to that apartment.
The on-​site management team of Elisa and Peter were awesome. Peter noticed I was having issues getting my station wagon in my tight parking space and assigned me a new spot that I could easily manage. You could find Elisa and Peter regularly cleaning the common areas. I’ve forgotten my card key on more than one occasion and even when it was later in the evening, Elisa let me in while she was in her PJ’s AND with a friendly attitude. My few maintainence requests were handled promptly. Whenever they do the yearly window cleaning or fire alarm checks, you get proper notices. Great communication with the tenants all round! My damage deposit when I left was promptly refunded less carpet cleaning, blinds cleaned and door re-​keyed. I’m a bit of a clean freak, so I left the place über clean and was not charged for cleaning.
15^th Ave. has lots of great restaurants and coffee shops and this apartment sits atop Bakery Nouveau. Easy walking to all the happenings on Capitol Hill.
The only cons I can think of are that when a power outage happens, you cannot get into the building since it’s entry by electric card key. I was taking my dog out for a quick potty break and the power went down. I didn’t have my phone on me and ended up getting a ride from a police officer to a friend’s house to crash.
If your sensitive to noise the sound of the buses and sirens may bother you. The park across the street has two major bus stops around it. They come every 10 – 15 minutes. Sometimes you’ll hear loud arguments/​conversations. The hospital nearby has it’s fair share of siren noise too. I sleep like a log, but I’ve had overnight guests complain of the noise.
All in all my year here was awesome. It’s a place that I was proud to have friends and family members visit and I will always think fondly of my time here.

PS– When I was there, they didn’t charge «Pet Rent» which I think is the biggest rip-​off.
