Kim Okamura, DDS

I had a really great experience here getting several procedures done. I’m not the most enthusiastic dental patient, and Doc Okamura and her team really put me at ease. I even got flowers after my most recent visit, which is astonishingly thoughtful. :) I’m a new regular!

What a great dentist! So personable and really truly cares about her patients. She even came in on a Sunday when I was having some teeth issues. She offered to come in the night before at 11pm to help me but I am usually in bed by then :) she will be my family’s dentist for life. I feel she is the best around!

Two weeks ago I noticed that I was having an issue with my dental bonding and I realized I would need to have it replaced. I was pretty stressed and in a panic searching for the right dentist. I spent hours going through Unilocal reviews and emailing dentists that did cosmetic dentistry. After coming across Kim Okamura and watching the client testimonials on her website, I decided to schedule a consultation with her. I’m so glad that I did! What a fantastic team! Lesley, the front desk manager is awesome! She is very welcoming and I immediately felt more relaxed when I met her. Colleen is really great too! Dr. Okamura is amazing. She loves her job and you can totally tell! Her personality is super warm and friendly. She really listens and addresses your concerns. I never once felt rushed and it’s obvious that she really cares. Any anxiety I had about going to the dentist quickly disappeared after meeting her. I should also mention that I currently do not have dental insurance and I felt a little insecure about this before going in for my consultation. I’m happy to report that I never once felt judged. They entire staff was very accommodating and responsive to my concerns. I just had my bonding replaced this morning and it looks fantastic! This was by far the best dental experience ever!!! :-)

I really liked this dentist. As we all know, going to the dentist is never fun but the people running this office really make you feel comfortable. The office is nice and comfy, the staff is friendly and attentive and Dr Okamura is truly a professional. She really explains what she’s going to do and is very gentle. I highly recommend her and her staff.

This location has great people that are really focused on there clients. Made me feel comfortable and answered all my question. from the entrance to the office all the way to the back i felt welcomed. i would reccomend anyone who has dental issues /​questions to give them a visit and meet the team. Dr. Kim, Lesley and Colleen are great and fun people. I am excited to see the results and come back to visit them all. Thanks Ladies!

This office is GREAT with people anxious about the dentist.
I went in first for my cleaning and Invisalign consult to scope the place out. Really super friendly staff and Dr Okamura is one of the most caring people I have met. Lesley at the front desk is superb and a great communicator. Susan and Colleen are sweethearts and you feel like they really know what they are doing.
I told the staff about my husbands’ anxieties about the dentist. Dr Okamura wanted to work with him through it. Unlike the prior dentist that we had tried — Dr Stark in the Medical and Dental Building — she really seemed to *get* it from the start. She had us come in for an office visit to take a look around and sit in a «non threatening» office chair to talk about what worried him. She dug down to the root cause of his anxiety and offered several solutions as to how we could get around it.
On the day of his cleaning the staff were prepared about the situation — again, not like Dr Starks office — and were all on the same page. They had blocked out the whole morning for us. Dr Okamura was personally involved in his case and continuously checked up on us throughout the cleaning. They were sensitive to his needs and his concerns.
I just don’t know if I would have ever gotten hubby to the dentist again if it hadn’t been for Dr Okamura. When you go to this office do not hesitate to tell her what is going on. She is an understanding individual who does not believe that the dentist should hurt. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

I am simply pleased to have found Dr. Okamura and her team (especially Leslie)! You will not find a more customer focused dentist office. Dr. Okamura’s chair side manner is simply above the fray. She takes time to get to know you and does whatever she can to make you feel comfortable. No rushing, and completely accommodating.
When you say, «I don’t want anything to hurt», she hears you! If you want good service, great dental work without pain, check her out!

Dr. Okamura has been taking care of my teeth for years. There were a few years when I didn’t have the insurance plan accepted by her office and I went to another dentist. Their office was strangely like walking onto the set of the Stepford Wives (all frozen smiles), but the minute I got enrolled with a different plan, I headed back to her for care. She has always spoken at length with me about the work that needed to be done and has been willing to work with me to schedule procedures to keep pace with what I can afford. Doc Kim is wise, warm, and personable… I cannot imagine how someone else ended up in a screaming incident with her (as reported here)(there’s gotta be more to the story). I appreciate Leslie too, cuz she already knows I don’t do well at getting up early and works with me to schedule appointments later in the day. Thank you Leslie! The rest of the staff is helpful, informative, and always make me feel well taken care of. Nobody likes having dental work done, it’s uncomfortable during and there is always an adjustment period afterwards… but Dr. Kim works hard and successfully to get me biting properly and happy with the outcome of any and all work she does.

I have been with Kim for 7 years, theres a reason! Her office is warm yet modern, I love the little nuances that are a throwback to her heritige (the chinese paper dragon that occasionally makes an appearance). The staff is wonderful, seriously, I look forward to seeing them! They use the latest technology and have the greatest technique! I would reccomend this office to anyone that is looking for cosmetic work, they are the absolute best in seattle! I used to have some really bad gapped teeth and was really insecure about my smile, I smile all the time now:)

I think that I first starting seeing Kim Okamura in 1999 or 2000 due to a recommendation from a friend that I trusted. I liked my experience with her very much. Upon our initial appointment, we put together a plan for what I needed and what I wanted to happen with my smile. We prioritized together and I appreciated that. Shortly after I moved to Hawaii for a few years. There I had to see another dentist to keep up with my 6 month teeth cleaning regiment. To make a long story short, this dentist told me I had many small cavities that needed to be taken care of right away. This was confusing to me since Dr. Okamura had just told me very differently. I went a long with my first appointment of filling cavities in one quadrant of the mouth. The filling was terrible and painful for days and my bite was now off. In the end the botched job caused me to go home to Seattle, see Kim and have help me get a root canal to fix everything. I am grateful that she has always been informative, caring and what I most like about Kim is that she LOVES her job and it shows in how she talks to her patients and how she continues her training. I now live in Portland and continue to make the 3+ hour drive to see her every 6 months for my cleaning and maintenance if that says anything about what I think of her. I continue to pay forward the recommendations to her as I was sent to her.

Initially, I have done my veneers with Dr. Okamura and she did a pretty good job. As a satisfied customer, I referred my father to her. Unfortunately, his veneers went wrong and — seeing how my father got treated — I lost all respect for Dr. Okamura. After only 2 – 3 months of installing veneers for my dad, the veneers started chipping or falling out entirely. My father went several times to Kim to fix these issues and she wanted to bill him for work that she should have done well in the first place. When we had more veneers falling out, we started talking to Dr. Okamura about some kind of full or even partial refund, so we can at least redo the dental work with other dentist (my father lost all trust in her work at this point and did not want to continue dental services with Dr. Okamura). I was pretty appalled at the way she handled the situation. She started screaming and cursing at me and yelled that she is resigning as our dentist — me included! I did my veneers with her in the first place and at the end of the day I was a different patient! She basically said that she does not guarantee my veneers either — because I am the daughter of patient whose job went horribly wrong. Wow. I threatened to sue and Dr. Okamura sent a check for a paltry sum, that would not even cover cost of one veneer installation. I was just in shock at how my father and me were treated. I regret ever going to her in the first place and — moreover — referring another patient to her. And remember — we paid everything out of pocket, as it was considered cosmetic procedure. Just 5 years later, 11 — yes, ELEVEN — veneers changed and thousands of additional dollars spent on dental work that should have been done correctly in the first place, it was discovered that Dr. Okamura used low-​quality material to do the veneers and on top that she did not create correct bite. All this resulted in one long dental nightmare. If anybody told me that they are planning on seeing Dr. Okamura for their dental work, I would put all my effort in discouraging them to do so. I believe that business or professional show their true colors when dealing with problem, not when everything is going as planned and everybody is happy. Dr. Okamura showed her low level of professionalism when the problem came about. She should have stepped up, apologized and suggested a plan of action to fix the problem. If that included full-​time reworking of all veneers to find out the fundamental problem (wrong bite, poor material) and fix that — then she should have done that to maintain her good name. Instead, she chose a low road of constantly denying the problem (how can you deny 11 replaced veneers in 5 years after Dr. Okamura did her job?), accusing the patient and eventually taking an easy road of resigning and throwing some paltry cash at us to shut us up. Normally, I would not write a terrible review just because I had one negative experience with the business. We are all human and we all have our days off. However, I feel like I was treated like dirt by this doctor and I owe it to her potential patents to put this information out there. Very, very unprofessional.
