I really wanted to love this please, I was saying to my husband how I was going to give them 5 start even before we ordered because I am latina and I want to support my people. But food was not great at all. I was sad it was no that good, the portion and flavors were not that good. Maybe it was just what we ordered? Or maybe because I grew up eating this type of food? Popusas were just ok, Husband got a ground meat plate and I got chuleta frita. Overall the only thing we agree on that was good was the chip plantain, though I asked the girl if that was patacones and she said yes. That is not patacones but it was good. Service is great, really nice and friendly !!! I hope I will adjust review if we go back.

Papusas at last!!! Had a delicious meal here last night. Food was delicious and the staff was awesome. They brought out food in a timely matter, even with all the take out that was happening. Definitely will be coming back since I saw a lot of other dinners on other people’s tables that liked equally as yummy!

I’m seriously impressed! Central American food at its finest. We had a little of everything. For the grand finally… The Flan! It’s not made in house but the company that does is here in Seattle. Oh so yummy!

Delightful service, delicious food! We had chicken dishes from Nicaragua and Costa Rica. The mojitos were just so-so though. Their passion shines through. We’ll definitely be back!

This place is the real deal! So impressed with the service, friendless of the staff, and the quality of food! The woman helping us was so genuinely kind, and was always there to bring us a water refill or drink refill. The food was amazing! The fried plantain chips are the best I’ve ever tasted. They have two great hot sauces they bring to the table, both are delicious with the plantain chips. I ordered a shredded beef, carrot, potato and green bean dish with rice– it was amazing. The meat was extremely tender and the portion was great. My boyfriend got some type of sampler plate that had a little bit of everything. It was also extremely tasty, and a great introduction to many foods. We also ordered the chips and guacamole– the chips were hot and you could tell they were hand made. The guacamole was also extremely fresh and balanced. Amazing experience. The Mojitos are great, as well! I recommend coming here for any meal– it will hit the spot! I’ll be back for more

We just left this place having shared the Bandeja Centroamericana plate — it’s big! Lots of great flavors. Be warned, the cabbage salad is tasty, but spicy. We would definitely return. I’m now headed for a Google search for recipes for pupusas and pastelitas…

This restaurant has been blowing up on Unilocal recently, and lucky for me I just moved a few blocks away. I came here last night for the first time. I found the interior to be very minimal… nothing fancy. But the staff and service is very good. So what do I do? It turns out I must have ordered the most UN-LATIN item on the menu. I get the breaded prawns. I’m not really sure what I was thinking to be honest. It came with rice, salad, tarter, and delicious tortillas. They did provide me with some spicy sauce to use. But I will say this about the prawns. Those things were delicious… cooked to perfection. Probably better than most seafood places. Next visit we try something more authentic.

Amazing! Super friendly, good for kids, easy parking in the lot. Plethora of spicy flavors to be had from this new jem. Chorizo with lime is my new favorite thing.

The food and the service was fantastic! We will most definitely be back. The pork tamale was excellent– moist and had a huge chunk of pork in it. My boyfriend loved the carne asada; he says it was mouthwatering. I loved the sweet fried plantains and the empanadas de leche. Don’t be deterred if the parking lot is full, there is plenty of street parking right around the corner.

Great food and people!!! Outstanding customer service and very flavorful food. Bring back a lot of memories from when I was a kid growing up in Nicaragua. My family and I drove hesitantly 45min to get here on a Saturday night and we were not disappointed. We will be coming back! Thank you!

This place is simply fantastic! Ambiance is comfortable, come as you are. Service is so genuine, and the food is SO good! Talk about authentic! I’ve been for both breakfast & dinner and it’s been awhile that I’ve had a really memorable meal that left me telling everyone I know… including Unilocal! They have a section of their menu with a map of different cities and the native dish in that area, with a little story — super cute! Get the yummy plantains that must be slow roasted, brown sugar caramelized… they come with the huevos rancheros but you can also get a side of them for dessert.

If you are in north Seattle and like good food, you NEED to eat here. Everything surpassed my expectations — including the cocktails! I highly recommend the revueltas pupusa or the loroco and cheese pupusa! And of course the empanadas for desert!

Found my neighbors talking about this on NextDoor, of all places. We were on our way elsewhere to dinner when I saw them saying good things about it so we went to investigate. It’s right next to Tim’s Tavern on 105th(A fine bar for stiff drinks and the owners Tim & Patty are super nice). Parking was available in the side lot. It wasn’t very full when we arrived but when we left it was almost filled up. The restaurant is simple, clean and inviting. From Unilocal posts I knew I wanted the porkchop dish and the hubs ordered his go to: carne asada. We started w handmade guac n chips. They come out and the chips are freshly fried and crispy and the guac needed just a little more salt for my taste and then it was PERFECTO! We were giggling bc this tasted better than Hecho and was only $ 5.50! Our meals were authentic and generous. We took some asada and sausage home. The housemade corn and flour tortillas were awesome. This place is gonna be popular!

Ok first of all I’m Salvadorean so I’m gonna have high standards when it comes to Salvadorean food. This place just opened about a month and a half ago so for just opening they’re not doing too bad! The décor and ambiance is nice I felt at home when i walked in. Here’s my break down: –The owner and staff is very nice and accommodating –Sopa de Res is pretty solid! I would come back here just for that. The meat is tender and the flavor is good. I really enjoyed it. –Pupusas were ok but not great in my opinion. I had two with bean, cheese and loroco. Are my moms and mine better? I think so. Would I come here on a day to eat them if I were too lazy to make my own yes probably. –salsa and curtido were ok — Atol de elote: great flavor but mine was served almost cold :(I should’ve asked them to warm it up but I didn’t. Also a mug full costs $ 4.50! That’s pricey for atol –buñelos de yucca: not really what I was expecting. The syrup was good but I wouldn’t order these again –Flan– I liked it. It was dense but I liked the flavor Overall I think I would give it another try in a couple months since they’re still pretty new but they have my comfort food.

We’ve lived in the neighborhood for 15+ years and it’s so great to finally have a place with good food in this spot– we’ve been twice already. They’ve got a big menu with specialties from all over Central America– quite an offering for such a little place. Breakfast options are great, chorizo, eggs, tortillas, the usual. Try the Desayuno Central Americano plate– chorizo, eggs, fresh cheese, fried plantains, crema, beans and avocado. It was delicious. Dinner has carne and chicken dishes, all which are flavorful and pupusas all day long. Homemade tortillas! And they have a small bar and offer margaritas and mojitos as well as beer and wine. Owner and servers are all nice and friendly.

I really liked this place. The dining area was clean and well lit, bathed by sun light(lunch time). I ordered the Bandeja Centroamericana dish. It was a variety plate that had a sampling of different Central American foods. Everything seemed to taste fresh. I really liked the skirt steak served with the dish. I would definitely come back to taste what else they have to offer.

This place is amazing. The staff are incredibly friendly and offer great service. We ordered the bandejo and one of their camarones dishes. Both were excellent but the bandejo was outrageously delicious. Easily could be split between two. The tamale, papusa, chorizo, carne asada were all so good. I’ll be back again very, very soon.

The food was amazing, everyone at our table cleared their plate and all the ingredients tasted very fresh. The staff was great! Looking forward to eating here all the time! Update: they’ll sell you their homemade tortillas. Great for breakfast burritos at home! Double update: the burritos are amazing!

I went in for dinner the week they opened. I ordered the Carne Asada. The beef was nicely seasoned and cooked well. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant appeared to be clean and tidy. I would definitely recommend La Cabana to others.

I guess that the owner is more concerned with giving friendly service and amazing food than putting up cheesy tourist trap atmosphere enhancements. We had a long lunch here. The taquitos were plump and the carne asada place delicious. Adding the little sausage and grilled Jalapino was a plus. This fat man loves it. I am going to try it all.

This place is amazing! On the outside, it really doesn’t look like very much. Plain looking sign, not much décor inside. Very simple atmosphere… but that isn’t what is important to me. I’m going out to eat well! I got the salpicon and my wife got the bandejas. Both were authentic and incredibly delicious. While I really liked my salpicon, I was definitely jealous of my wife’s bandejas. We also got margaritas with dinner, which were really quite good. They were pretty big portions. We had enough between the two of us to make one pretty awesome lunch for the next day(my wife took it). Service was quite good. The staff was attentive to us, despite it being pretty busy at the time. Our orders were taken quickly and food came out when we would have expected. We’ll definitely be back!

My husband and I were craving pupusas and forgot our usual spot was closed on Mondays. So thankful we wandered into La Cabana instead! The restaurant is family run and serves authentic Central American cuisine. My husband who grew up in Central America looked like a child in a candy store reading the menu. We ended up ordering a loroco and cheese pupusa and catrachitos to start, split an order of the Honduran Fried Porkchop as a main and finished with a typical Honduran dessert, empenadas maduros. The food did not disappoint! There was none left. We will definitely be returning to this new restaurant!

My hubby & I were so thrilled this place opened in a formerly flavorless Chinese/Japanese restaurant. La Cabana was deeeelish! Food made with flavor, time & heart. We started with potato pastellitas– fresh & hot. Dinner was the classic Pollo Guisado. Man! It was layered with great flavors! The owner was friendly and service excellent. Featuring regional dishes from all over South America. Dinner was $ 13.50 — great price. Of course it helps that we can walk here in just 2 blocks! Do yourself a favor and eat here!
