Lander Hall

I lived here last year when it was completely new so it’s about a year old now. Each room is equipped with a personal bathroom and suited for two people. This is probably one of the best dorms that the University of Washington Seattle offers. On the first floor, you can find Local Point which is basically a cafeteria that serves pretty good food considering it’s college dorm food. They also house the front desk for all dorms in West Campus and the Student Fiscal Services.
The furniture is new and can be adjusted. Beds can be lofted, desks can be personalized, and everything is easily moved. I believe this is the only dorm at UW that has kitchens on every floor so far. Lounges have a lot of natural light and have comfy couches and chairs. Some are perfect for studying, others are equipped to cook and eat, then there are some that are made for hanging out. There are two TVs on each floor with cable then a few lounges on the main floor and next to the laundry room. Lander also has a patio with a pretty nice view of the water. Most of the rooms above the fifth floor on the south side have an amazing view of the Seattle skyline.
One downside is all the construction going on in that area. They’re currently working on Maple/​Terry so opening windows is not always the best options because it can get pretty loud. There are bus stops everywhere but that also means hearing buses at 5:30 every morning but I guess that’s not a problem if you’re a heavy sleeper.
Overall, I had an awesome experience at Lander. The atmosphere is on the quieter side but it’s what you make it!
