Love the swanky classy feel of this place! The décor and almost makes you forget you’re in a hotel/restaurant. Food and eats: + Eggs benedict(my all time favorite at any place): the eggs were soft poached and cooked perfectly! + OJ: FRESH! A must if you love OJ. The portion size looks small, but it’s just right. The service is exceptional and the atmosphere is like nothing else in this city. COMEFORBRUNCH! :)

Wonderful atmosphere, attentive staff, and great food. The only reason why I’m not given them 5 stars is because they did not have one of the appetizers(mushroom hazelnut pâté) and one of the desserts(mousse). Considering that the lunch menu is quite small, I wouldn’t expect anything to not be available

The Library used to have gluten-free granola — no longer. Seems like evolving backwards to me… also, my cappuccino was lacking, in presentation and flavor. Might try another breakfast spot next time I’m in Seattle…

I had breakfast at the Library Bistro on Sunday morning. The wait was long, almost an hour. The food was bland. I had a ham omelet, and I asked for gluten free sub for toast and no offer was given. Two of my friends ordered the mushroom crêpe and they were both raw. They left most of their food on their plate. At the time we didn’t want to wait another hour to replace the food we received. The service was poor. The waitress was not very friendly. The prices were too high. The atmosphere was lovely and one of the other waiters was friendly, but overall very disappointing. I won’t be back.

We came down to the Library Bistro from our excellent room at the Alexis. We had a little over an hour before we needed to head out for some scheduled activities, but thought that should definitely be enough for breakfast. We were seated promptly and served some great OJ. The décor is really great in the bistro. We were seated in a large booth amongst all the books. The tables are all covered in some paper for breakfast so we could doodle and play some games while we waited… and boy did we wait! We placed our order after a quick chat with our server Carlos. It was great that he let me know the steak and eggs might take a while and I chose something a little simpler. What I didn’t know is that just about everything takes a while. Carlos kept us up to date and after almost an hour of waiting our food finally came out. Carlos knew we were in a hurry and went out of his way to apologize and make it right. If it weren’t for his excellent service even when the kitchen really dropped the ball, the whole morning could have ended poorly. The food, however, was actually really great. It’s a shame it took so long and we had to eat in a hurry, but maybe next time we’ll have a chance to really sit and enjoy it.

Excellent food. The French Toast was awesome, and the atmosphere, great. Something was a bit odd with their orange juice, but maybe it’s different on the west coast(it was the same the second glass). Regardless, the staff was nice about it. Will update if illness ensues.

Went here for brunch! Outstanding setting! The staff was super friendly and our waitress… HEY! lol The coffee is strong and outstanding! The juice is all fresh squeezed, that extra touch just shows the quality is set high! The atmosphere is beautiful and inviting and the old books add to the charm! If you want good food you cannot go wrong! Just give this place a try you will love it. The food maybe a tad pricey for some of you but it is worth it!

The world’s best clam chowder… total five stars… heck, I’d give it 6 stars. Unusual drinks… been here a couple of times and the only thing I remember is the chowder, which says to me that the rest of the stuff was unmemorable. Not bad, not spectacular, but definitely go for that amazing chowder.

Wonderful brunch in a great downtown setting. Menu covers all the staples, and then some. Service was exceptional. Corned beef hash was perfectly prepared, as were the Bloody’s. Companion’s Biscuit & Gravy also a noble dish…

This was a fun destination breakfast spot for my friends and I to have our Christmas get together at. We enjoyed our time there and the server«bones» was very nice and attentive without being annoying. He kept all of our beverages full and the timing of the meal was perfect. The apple fritters are to DIEFOR. ALL7 of us gushed over how good they were. I am not a huge fan of donuts or stuff like that but they were very tasty. I had the Monte Cristo and it was ok. I was actually surprised that it wasnt better for the price. It was just kind of bland. The orange jelly served with it was tasty though. The prices are high(12 – 18 for a breakfast item). I dont know that the food warrants those prices. I have had better food for cheaper. Coffee was 4.00 a cup. Blood marys were pretty pricey. BUT the ambience was very nice. Parking on the street is expensive but that is downtown Seattle for you. We would probably go back but only for a special occasion. There were only 2 other tables occupied during our two hour breakfast so my guess is that other people feel the same way about the food/prices.

I have come here for Breakfast/Brunch on several occasions. I have never had to deal with it being busy or a long wait. It’s always very quite, the staff is super friendly, and the food comes out fast and hot. I love taking out of town vistors here because the interior is amazing. It’s like being in a little Book store from a period movie. The reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is because all though delecious, the food has never blown me away. With that note, their strawberry jelly is the best! It reminds me of homemade Strawberry marmalade my mom use to make as a kid back in Germany. And a note for first time vistors, the entrance is hard to miss. It’s on the side of the building and you ahve to walk up stairs into the hotel. It will be on your left after the first flight of stairs.

Bibliophile’s brunch heaven. Remember the scene from Disney’s beauty and the beast where the beast presents the entire library as a gift to Belle? Well it’s kind of like that but smaller and cozier, and the flatwares don’t sing and dance. Then again, the food is certainly real and delicious. The atmosphere resembles that of a library, complete with rather quiet noise level of the entire establishment. I see solo diners here often, so if you like to read Nabokov while enjoying some scrambled eggs and fruit, this is your spot. Each table has a small glass full of crayons, so you can doodle while you wait for your pancakes, eggs Benedict or biscuits and gravy. The service is great and last time I was there, they gave us complimentary apple fritters which were totally worth breaking my paleo streak for. I definitely plan to come back for more of their hospitality and good food, not to mention to ogle at their book collection. They do have a cozy little bar as well — that’ll be my next place to check out.

I can’t update my review of the restaurant yet, but I want to address how the general manager, Erica, responded to my meh rating. If I could reflect 5 stars on her responsiveness, I would. Instead I will add a star to the restaurant rating. Erica contacted me directly within 24 hours of writing about my disappointing experience. She asked for specifics on when I dined so she could pinpoint the staffing and food prep issues I had shared. She then credited my meal back to my hotel charges(I had been a guest of the hotel at the time I dined there). I wish every business was run like this — many business owners or managers would prefer to look the other way rather than get to the heart of the problem, which is damaging to their businesses. Instead, this was handled very professionally. Nice job, Erica — kudos on the professionalism and I will come back next time I’m in Seattle.

This whole concept is awesome, books and food. What’s not to like? I went in with high expectations. I really wanted to like this place, I was already a fan of everything, the real test was going to be the food. I was torn between the dutch baby and the french toast but I stuck to my gut and went with the french toast. I should have tried the dutch baby. My french toast was more bread like(it was as if it hadn’t soaked in the egg mixture long enough), burnt and just overall a disappointment. I didn’t even bother finishing it, and my companion even said, «it’s not worth the calories.» On the upside though, the apple fritters were pretty good, more churro like(and not enough apple in my opinion, but still good). The restaurant wasn’t very busy, and it took awhile to get our food, which is unfortunate but I’d come back again to try the dutch baby. Usually when a place lets me down(especially when the french toast lets me down) I don’t ever see a reason on returning, but damn you library bistro and how cute your interior is.

I am a little bummed that I didn’t like this place better. The place is undeniably cool and the staff and service got an easy 5 stars but the food was lacking. We had a slightly difficult time finding the restaurant which is tucked away in the Alexis Hotel. There was a lounge area that we walked through that we thought was the restaurant but appeared to be closed… but a few turns and corners later, we found it! The service was nothing short of impeccable and the restaurant itself was really cool with bottles of liquor everywhere and books galore! I was surprised by the crowd — everyone in there was super dressed up for whatever reason and slightly older but not as old as some of the other reviews mentioned. Mostly business casual on steroids. We had the BBQ sliders(at a happy hour price) for an appetizer that came with 2 generous-sized sandwiches and then I had the roast chicken and my husband had a burger. My favorite thing out of everything that we ordered? The fries that came with the burger. They were the crispy, super slim fries and perfectly salted. LOVELOVELOVE! The BBQ sliders were my next favorite although to be honest, I totally wasn’t in the mood for them. They were a little greasy for my taste but you can’t beat the smokey sweetness and the awesome buns. My least favorite was the chicken… it was really bland, tasteless, and dry. I didn’t particularly like the root vegetables that came with it either. All in all, just kind of meh. The mac and cheese looked good so maybe I’d try that next time. Sadly, there weren’t a ton of choices available for entrees since they only had a few entrees available since 2 of them were sold out. Lesson learned. 2 entrees, a happy hour appetizer, and a glass of wine came to around $ 45 which wasn’t bad. Having a Prime Card was even better. I’d be willing to give this place another shot… all of the food that came whizzing by us looked better than mine.

What a public library outing should be! This rich looking and comfortable space served as a tranquil and delicious breakfast spot twice in my weekend Seattle getaway recently and was definitely a great way to start a hectic wedding day. I ordered their omelette both times and chose spinach, chicken sauce and chevre cheese. The difference on the second visit was making it an egg white and adding caramelized onions. Both remixes were making them shake butts on the taste bud dance floor. I didn’t expect to be immediately seated during Monday rush hour, but we were warmly welcomed by the cute smiling guy in my photos and I have to admit that DOES make for better masticating. ;) Our food took a bit longer to come to the table, not excessively, because a company party was being hosted in a nearby room. This speaks well of the building’s acoustics because I could barely hear the group giggling and sauntering about. I love how tucked away and fabulous this spot is and would not hesitate to visit many times if I lived in Seattle.

I really enjoyed this place but I did not eat here so I can’t cooment on the food. But I loved the bar– dark, quiet with some goofy board games. including some niosy ones that seemed to annoy the neighbors. It was a great place to just mellow out after a long day of sightseeing, shopping and eating. we just sat and. breathed for a while. the drinks were quite good. I had a martini.

Found this biz on Unilocal. The review was very good. What caught my eye was the description that it is surrounded by books. So we decided to give it a try to have brunch. You go up a stairs to get to the bistro. It will be on your left. The hostess was very pleasant. The décor is very library like alright. Surrounded by books. I love the nice checkered floors. Walls are dark warm brown perfectly complementing the soft warm brown leather on the booths. Nice warm lighting. Jazz music in the background is very soothing while you’re eating. I had three over medium eggs. A couple of bacon and some toast. Anyways a brunch for two would cost you about $ 45+ tax. This is the first library I’ve been to where I didn’t have to whisper :)
